To think that I shouldn't be made to feel guilty for driving on the school run?

Some people have to drive their children to school, I am one of them.

AIBU to feel put out at the constant letters home and remarks from other parents/teachers about driving to school? To the point where last week I was given a very hard time for not signing the petition to stop parents driving to school?

As much as I agree that walking to school is a great benefit for children, the campaigners really should consider that its not a viable option for everyone.

Bloody hell, who nicked the jam out of Wibbly's doughnut?

OP YANBU Ignore those who think you should cycle. As evidenced by posts on other threads, attitudes to cyclists mean you'd be putting your life in danger even if it was possible to do so.

As for Wibbly I notice she mentions her ex taking their dd to school and not herself Hmm

This whole 'you MUST walk to school' thing really pisses me off. I agree with the sentiment, better to walk than drive, and some of the parking near our school is frankly atrocious. But I have to drive because I not only have to get to work, I have to drop off dd2 at nursery as well. And we live in a very hilly city, I never really learned to ride a bike safely in traffic and don't feel confident with a child seat on the back of a bike even away from traffic. I will not risk my child's safety.

Actually, I don't drive to school, I drive to my childminder who lives near the school, then they walk to school. And I usually pick up my dad at the childminder and drive him to work so at least I'm car-pooling.
