DH obv think I am AIBU but we live in a cottage built in 1856 and the incidents so far:

Hearing footsteps on stairs thinking it's our DCs only to find them fast asleep. Happens a lot!

DCs special 'taggies' (comfort blanket) disappearing for days, only to reappear in really obvious places we have looked at before.

DD's electric toothbrush turning itself on at 3 am in the morning. Bzzzzzz.

A friend convinced she saw a Childs face peering through our bannisters. DCs def in bed at the time.

DD 5yrs old saying 'who is the little boy that came to stay last night?' No little boy was staying!

I dont know. Possibly some could be explained but the toothbrush and footsteps freaks me out! Even DH has heard them, checked kids who are fast asleep and stated 'that's weird'.

When we moved into our house (a 2nd hand new build so only 18 months old) strange things happened especially on the sofa when it felt like someone was tickling your face. My dad came round, sat in the same place and kept wiping hos face. I saoid "h, that's our ghost!" We got new neighbours a few months later who eventually called in the local priest. It transpired that our old neighburs had been mucking about with ouoji boards. And then our sofa thing stopped,

When my 55 was 2 I was a single mum and was convinced the house we'd just moved into was haunted as all the ornaments on the windowsill kept lining up - I like the arranged in groups. Then I caught DD on her own in the room re-arranging the ornaments and putting them into a pperfectly straight line!

Or you have someone living in your walls.

(been watching too much tv)

Did the ghost resurrect this bloody thread!

Beaverfeaver · 06/01/2013 18:45

My parents live in an old mortuary.
This is where I grew up.

Lots of scary stuff happened there. I was used to it by the time I moved out, now find it weird to live in a house that is silent throughout the night.

And we still live in an old cottage now

I always thought there was something in my PIL's house, but never said anything to anyone. Part of it is a conversion of an old stable block (used to belong to a large house next door) and there's a definite change of atmosphere as you pass from the old to new.

One of my friends stayed when my PIL were away and I know she's experienced things in the past (elsewhere). She was totally freaked out and I had to move her to the new part of the house. I hadn't told her about my suspicions. I always feel there's someone there when I'm on my own. My friend did see and feel something, but won't give me any more details.

YANBU OP!

Why is there always some idiot bumping old threads? Too stupid to start one of their own?

thegreylady · 06/01/2013 19:06

A ghost discussion is always fun-most ghost stories are pretty old-doesnt stop folk talking about them though :)

CheCazzo · 06/01/2013 19:10

I agree. Nothing wrong with a ghost story thread. A fresh one is surely always preferable to one that's been at the back of the fridge too long and is starting to smell a bit funny?
