AIBU to ask you all to boycott Muller products

My DH was driving on the M6 today with DCs (10,8,7) his lane became closed so he indicated and moved over in front of a Muller light truck. When the traffic began to move again said truck hit the back of him and pushed him 200m down the road, making my DCs have hysterics and all of them feeling extremely distressed. He has reported the truck to the police, DD took the number plate. My DCs are now asleep but very upset by the whole incident and I now wish to ask you all to boycott their products, even if only for a week. We will be emailing the company in the morning, there is only a few scratches to my car but it could have been far worse and DH says he is sure the driver knew there were DCs in the car. DH is [hangry]

Well rather obviously you need to make a complaint about the police then (if this happened at all).

SnakeOnCrack · 31/10/2011 10:03

It sounds unlikely that they would only prosecute someone for dangerous driving if there is more damage than a couple of scratches, I'd challenge that if I were you..

Lucyinthepie · 31/10/2011 10:03

Don't be so silly.

Whatmeworry · 31/10/2011 10:06

I suspect the police are a tad sceptical that one can have a 200 yard shunt at up to 20mph with only a few scratches to show for it.

DoingTheBestICan · 31/10/2011 10:07

Sorry i havent read anymore after Talc&Turnips quip about the driver driving off with a wave & a 'You've been mullered'

So funny,love it.

Sorry op but i think your dh has fed you a line & he cut the driver up.

squeakyfreakytoy · 31/10/2011 10:21

Sounds to me like ops husband was one of those idiots who ignores the get in lane signs and races right down the lane at the last minute. And doing so cut up a lorry that didn't get chance to stop. The rest of the tale sounds highly unlikely.

worraliberty · 31/10/2011 10:23

Yup! I'd sooner boycott billy bullshitters....

TeWihara · 31/10/2011 10:24

200m is probably not that far in terms of lorry stopping distances - they need much more braking space than cars do, if it was a case of the husband cutting up the lorry.

NellyMelba · 31/10/2011 10:27

I don't know whether to laugh or cry

im laughing

NellyMelba · 31/10/2011 10:27

DH said they were up to 20mph without him touching the accelerator.

think of the fuel he was saving Grin

WhereYouLeftIt · 31/10/2011 10:34

I found the original OP a bit extreme (Boycott a whole international company because one of their drivers was in an accident? Really?), but the later description of multiple (and implied deliberate) bumping that the police have decided to take no action on has tipped this OP's tale of woe into the unbelievable.

I can only suppose that OP's DH's sense of entitlement to roadspace that a lorry is already occupying hassparked OP's sense of entitlement to lead MNers on a boycott that none of them can understand the need for.

Bizarre.

Whatmeworry · 31/10/2011 10:35

If it was a Froot Shoot van she would have been onto a winner :o

ShowOfHands · 31/10/2011 10:38

Are you absolutely sure you called the police and not a, you know, garage ?? Because afaik the police don't make decisions about whether to investigate based on the number of scratches on your car. They're largely concerned with whether somebody's broken the law. Don't quote me on that though, I might be wrong.

I can boycott Muller this week though. I've already done the weekly shop and have Other Yoghurts in the fridge.

exoticfruits · 31/10/2011 10:38

Accidents happen and it must have been frightening but I shall not be boycotting -I'm sure that when you have calmed down you will realise that it was a 'knee jerk' reaction.

Nelly Every little helps.... Grin

ripstheirthroatoutliveupstairs · 31/10/2011 10:53

I am pleased you posted this OP, not because I want to join your boycott, but had I not read it, DD wouldn't be getting a corner in her lunch box.
I need to go out to do some shopping, I was toying with Asda but am now set on Tesco.
Thanks.

tooearlymustdache · 31/10/2011 10:53

your DP was being shunted repeatedly down the motorway with your DCs in the car and the only damage to your car was a few scratches?

are you in a John Dahl film, OP?

Grin
KatieMortician · 31/10/2011 11:08

mmm I quite fancy a Muller corner now.

poppyknot · 31/10/2011 11:09

I only have corners with banana yoghurt and chocolate flakes. They are my secret vice...........

spookshowangellovesit · 31/10/2011 11:09

damn i forgot my mullers in this weeks shop.

Whatmeworry · 31/10/2011 11:10

Cherry corner for me....and strawberry MullerIce.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 31/10/2011 11:16

OP - have you talked to the police? I think your husband is spinning you a line. Either that or you are spinning us a line.

I prefer to give you the benefit of the doubt.

worraliberty · 31/10/2011 11:19

Perhaps they've brought out their own line of yogurts and want to crush the competition? Grin
