AIBU to ask you all to boycott Muller products

My DH was driving on the M6 today with DCs (10,8,7) his lane became closed so he indicated and moved over in front of a Muller light truck. When the traffic began to move again said truck hit the back of him and pushed him 200m down the road, making my DCs have hysterics and all of them feeling extremely distressed. He has reported the truck to the police, DD took the number plate. My DCs are now asleep but very upset by the whole incident and I now wish to ask you all to boycott their products, even if only for a week. We will be emailing the company in the morning, there is only a few scratches to my car but it could have been far worse and DH says he is sure the driver knew there were DCs in the car. DH is [hangry]

I am actually trying to imagine Muller's response to learning that Mumsnet is boycotting them for a week.......

soandsosmummy · 31/10/2011 08:19

A tesco lorry went into the back of me during my first driving lesson - I never suggested a boycott of Tesco

I am sorry your family have had such a horrible experience but in short grow up

blackoutthesun · 31/10/2011 08:24

i'll boycott tesco for that soandsosmummy

lottiegb · 31/10/2011 08:37

Yes. Basic political education inc 'the role of boycotts' needed OP.

On a personal level, definitely pursue it determinedly with the police.

AgentProvocateur · 31/10/2011 08:43

I hope I never get hit by a wine lorry.

spiderpig8 · 31/10/2011 08:48

it sounds as though your DH might have cut the lorry up?

Sirzy · 31/10/2011 08:50

I thought that spiderpig

MenopausalHaze · 31/10/2011 08:50

Is it just me? Does this sound, in the OP, like an RTA? And if so why on earth didn't the Police attend the scene? I don't understand this at all. And I really really don't understand the concept of boycotting Muller - that's just insane beyond the call of duty!

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 31/10/2011 08:50

Does boycot really have two ts?

So it does.

As you were.

coraltoes · 31/10/2011 08:51

I don't eat muller. Might start now though, just due to your unreasonableness.

whoneedssleepanyway · 31/10/2011 08:53

I am a little confused by you post whenIgetto3, are you saying the lorry nudged the back of your DH's car, didn't stop but continued to shunt him along the road for 200m...?

Even if you DH did cut the lorry up this is inexcusable.

But like the others say a boycott is not in order, contact Muller and tell them about your experience, I would imagine said driver will lose his job over this.

blackoutthesun · 31/10/2011 08:53

now that i've re-read the op it does sound like the op dh cut up the lorry

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 31/10/2011 08:54

Anyway - this reminds me of that video that was doing the rounds a little a while ago, in which a woman (or rather her car) was pushed along the motorway for ages.

The driver apparently didn't realise he'd done it, or something.

Would Google but videos blocked at work.

Boycotting Müller seems a little daft, OP. Although I appreciate that you all must have been very shaken.

What did your DH do? Did he pull over to the hardshoulder or come off the motorway or something and call the police? What have the police said?

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 31/10/2011 08:58

this one

BOOareHaunting · 31/10/2011 09:00

Grin @ agentP

Trills · 31/10/2011 09:03

Yes, YABU

Whatmeworry · 31/10/2011 09:15

If DH was on the motorway in traffic why wasn't he driving his car rather than being shunted by the van behind? I'll bet there are 2 sides to this story.

You must be kidding if you think I'm giving up my Greek style corners summer fruit and black cherry are the best, BOGOF at Tesco atm

whenIgetto3 · 31/10/2011 09:40

the traffic was queueing DH moved from closed lane into open lane, truck did not want to let him in but had to, (hence why I said he pushed, but there was space and the truck stopped without any issues) traffic in that lane then stopped truck stopped as well. When all the traffic moved again the truck bumped into the back of him 4 times before pushing him 200m down the motorway. DH pulled off motorway into services, called police who had had other calls about it from other drivers but they have now said this morning that they did nothing about it as there was no damage to our car other than some scratches. The fact the driver got away with it and thinks that nothing is wrong with what he did means he could do it again with potentially fatal outcome. DH said they were up to 20mph without him touching the accelerator.

MenopausalHaze · 31/10/2011 09:42

Right. Hmmmmmm - this didn't really happen did it OP? Grin - It just doesn't add up does it?

worraliberty · 31/10/2011 09:46

So despite having the drivers reg plate taken down by your DD...and witnesses and presumably CCTV images, the Police have decided to do nothing about it? Confused

Are you sure your DH isn't spinning you a line and he just pulled in front of the Lorry without checking his mirrors?

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 31/10/2011 09:47

I'm very surprised that the police aren't pursuing this, OP. That's the only thing I'm a bit Hmm about.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 31/10/2011 09:51

also wrt damage, there might only be a few scratches externally, but until the car has been checked out neither you nor the police have any idea whether or not the suspension (for example) has been knackered.

I wouldn't be driving it tbh until it had been checked out.

ScarahStratton · 31/10/2011 09:52

No way am I boycotting Muller, there would be an uproar in the Stratton household.

I'll happily boycott Tescos I wouldnt shop there if they paid me .
