I am a SAHM, live in east anglia. HOuse prices are massive, we have a house up north that we can't sell (need to be near London for DHs job) and a mortgage. We've got 3 dc's. Struggling to by decent food on top of all the bills.

alwayspoor · 30/10/2011 22:59

Exactly can't spel, we have a lovley kitchen that a shister put in and have already been told won't pass electrical certificate for renting.

Now then. I am to understand that the national average is £500 per week. Does your husband earn more than that?

CheeseyZitLover · 30/10/2011 23:00

They don't own two houses tho, they own 1 house they can't sell and had to move and rent for work, you know, that thing people have to do to earn money.

Jesus wept, don't see the reason for the sniping [hconfused]

alwayspoor · 30/10/2011 23:00

pete we can't because the only job my Dh could get id in south

blackeyedsusan · 30/10/2011 23:01

you are running 2 houses, it is bound to be expensive for a while. it is not like one of them is a Second home. chicken breast would be off the menu for a while. that is bloody expensive. try diced turkey thighs instead, far cheaper! and look at some of the threads on eating cheaply.

alwayspoor · 30/10/2011 23:02

Thanks cheesey some people can't do basic working out. We don't own two houses.Hmm

OP posts:
alwayspoor · 30/10/2011 23:02

madonnawhore · 30/10/2011 23:03

Well what is this thread for?

You can't work.

You can't rent your house out.

Your H can't get a different job back up north.

What do you want us to say? Or do you just want to have a whinge?

We're all struggling too. Yes, it's shit. Poor us.

alwayspoor · 30/10/2011 23:04

IneedAbetterNickname · 30/10/2011 23:04

Thanks for clearing that up cantspel :) I didn't consider that! But then again, I've never really thought about it as I can't get a mortgage :(

JajasWjolef · 30/10/2011 23:04

OP, you aren't garnering a whole load of sympathy here it has to be said!

alwayspoor · 30/10/2011 23:04

Oh and I didn't say we can't rent out the house, migt be tricky.

OP posts:
madonnawhore · 30/10/2011 23:04

blackeyedsusan · 30/10/2011 23:04

AbbyAbsinthe · 30/10/2011 23:05

You haven't answered my question, OP.

alwayspoor · 30/10/2011 23:06

No madonna you were just really bitchy.

OP posts:
CheeseyZitLover · 30/10/2011 23:06

Oh gawd, you lot would hate me then, I only own one house tho, with a stupidly low mortgage of £150 a month, we have above the national average coming in and I still feel bloody skint.

What on earth with the op wanting a moan ? Isn't that what mumsnet's for ?

Pah, bitter and twisted vipers.

alwayspoor · 30/10/2011 23:07

Abby thats because you are being nosey and prehaps incitive?

OP posts:
countessbabycham · 30/10/2011 23:07

Is £500 a week the national average? Is that before or after tax?

blackeyedsusan · 30/10/2011 23:07

average wage used to be about £23k per annum, it has probably fallen a bit recently.

slavetofilofax · 30/10/2011 23:07

I hear you.

It's shit.

YANBU

Some people will just never grasp that feeling like you have no money is all relative.

gaelicsheep · 30/10/2011 23:07

Oh dear what a nasty thread. Totally unnecessary as well. Must be Halloween. Hmm

alwayspoor · 30/10/2011 23:08

Isn't it about £28k before tax

OP posts:
cantspel · 30/10/2011 23:08

£25,800 is the national average per year but that is pre tax and other deductions
