I was just browsing a computer forum ( I sometimes take a cheeky dive into the post a picture of yourself thread, some of the guys on there have some lovely jumpers) and I noticed they had a mumsnet thread.
Do you think this thread has good criticism about us? HERE
Sorry I am using a throwaway account as I don't want that forum to know that I am a girl who just goes there to look at the pictures of them.

OK, being as it's calming down a bit, my DP is a computer guy, and is very lovely IRL as are his geeky mates; in the same way we are lovely IRL too. Can't we just be lovely to each other, pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?

Foxtrot26 · 27/10/2011 23:28

sounds like a plan :)

you want to tell my wife to be nice to me then please?

ouryve · 27/10/2011 23:29

Mine is, too, MissVerydead. I do hang around online in a few geeky circles, though not so active recently (and never on OCUK, sorry labr@t - though wondering if you're the ratty I used to know from a few other places). I can safely say that techy forums are as widely varied as mumsnet and netmums (though few of them are particularly fond of ginormous blinky graphics in the same way as netmums)

Surely their shock shows what good parents we are?
They are either very young or without live-in partners, so they think that mummies and ladies don't swear.
No we don't sweeties, not usually to children and random strangers.
I never swear in my job either.
We save our earthier moments for when we are with friends and relaxing, rather like the way my children do.
Bet some of their mums are on here...Smile

'Bet some of their mums are on here...'

I was thinking that too River, it is pretty sad they've separated off 'mums' into a separate group from themselves.

So much so that they can make jokes about hitting women with the buckle end of a belt.

It seems they can't apply it happenening to their own mum and how they'd feel about that.

At least most people on MN can see past it being an anonymous person on the end of the computer and show some compassion for those trapped in a cycle of violence.

DownbytheRiverside · 27/10/2011 23:43

Very difficult for many teenagers to understand the reality of a DV situation unless they've been part of it, and bravado and talking bollocks are also traits of many inexperienced young people.
Especially if they are a bit confused about a new situation.

TipOfTheSlung · 27/10/2011 23:47

Ok I admit I had a look at one of the links they posted.

And now I am wondering if [[http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17954504 RichLs other half has thread about sex noises in classics.

TipOfTheSlung · 27/10/2011 23:48

Oh shit - I am so glad we can sweat here

TipOfTheSlung · 27/10/2011 23:49

gah sweat swear. that's what comes from trying to mn over a sleeping childs head. So neglectful

Whatmeworry · 28/10/2011 00:38

Just to balance some of these silly feminine comments (not that I expected anything else obviously), but the average age of the OCUK member is 30+.

Many of us are married, have children and are perfectly normal. So perhaps you can all stop getting your panties in a twist and get back to your household chores; you do have to justify your existence you know, you can't just sit on your fat arses all day while your better halves slave to keep you in mint Viscounts!

Now off you all toddle...

VivaLeBeaver · 28/10/2011 09:57

I don't think its a case of not liking us ScaredBear. The OP on that other forum talks about why do MN get all the media and politicians' attention. More like jealousy if you ask me.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 28/10/2011 09:57

OCUK - Confused

Why are you bothering? Seriously, why do you care?

Animation · 28/10/2011 09:58

"I am a little bit in love with Luke

"

Me too. Blush

Tank is a bit scary though. Confused

Do you not think that juvenile, immature postings like that are the reason why people snigger about you all been a bunch of 15 year olds? Its hardly a well considered, intelligent post is it dear?

OCUK · 28/10/2011 10:01

Oh, I see...so it's OK for all of you to post silly things...

Perhaps have a little think to yourselves in future then.

DownbytheRiverside · 28/10/2011 10:06

OCUK, I apologise for thinking you were a teenager, but considering the posts on that site, it seemed a reasonable assumption.
But considering your very traditional attitude towards women, you do sound more like my father than my son.
Little wifey at home whilst hubby works?
Very 1950s. Although it does have a certain appeal after almost 30 years of full-time wage-slaving. Grin

MonstrouslyNarkyPuffin · 28/10/2011 10:07

Perhaps we can all get on with our own stuff on our own sites and stop trying to shit stir.

OCUK - yes, we can post what we like here on MN. We're not coming over to your forum and calling your immature little cunts much as we'd like to.

Stick to your own playground, there's a dear. You might be mature, married and older than 30 - why don't you act like it?

HTH
