I was just browsing a computer forum ( I sometimes take a cheeky dive into the post a picture of yourself thread, some of the guys on there have some lovely jumpers) and I noticed they had a mumsnet thread.
Do you think this thread has good criticism about us? HERE
Sorry I am using a throwaway account as I don't want that forum to know that I am a girl who just goes there to look at the pictures of them.

GDN really doesn't speak for the rest of us. To be honest he's done nothing but make himself look like a fool. If admin here are willing to share IP information, we'd be very interested over at OCUK. =P

Just a note to say that neither geekdorknerd nor OCUK should be assumed to represent the majority opinion - if anything of the type exists - of the posters of the OcUK forums. Even though many hold an opinion as to the varying scale of bat-shit insanity prevalent on MN, only a great minority would consider it amusing to create an account on MN purely for the sake of posting sexist, derogatory or inflammatory comments.

Still, it's interesting to note that both forums seem to be holding the superiority baton above their heads while their fellow members degenerate into purile insults. I've seen jibes about greasy, masturbating, socially inept teenagers at least as often as references to extra-kitchen activities and hysterical, rabid "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!" reactions to mundane issues. It'd probably be a good idea for posters on both sides to get a grip and act like the adults they all claim tobe.

I hope not, Pasty. There's no need for some of the comments that have been said.

And I repeat, why do any of you feel the need to come over here and start a bunfight? Confused

It's just strange. You say that we have no lives and sit on our arses - but you're the ones taking the time to do this. It's, quite frankly, a bit weird.

Anyway, I need to get back to my cooking and cleaning and watching Jeremy Kyle get back to my high powered executive job.

Can we have a fun interforum struggle with a bit of light hearted exchanging of insults? Gwan ....

I've finally read both threads and I have to say, I'm quite impressed by the fact that on their forum, they're trying to find out which one of their members is posting utter crap over here. Yes, they have swear filters but they do appear to be doing a good job of self-policing.

They have their fair share of nutjobs, just as we do, but I think I actually quite like some of their threads.

I'm not about to leave Mumsnet any time soon but, like their member Alaister84 did, I've looked beyond the silliness and see that a lot of people over there have their heads screwed on.

Just sayin'.

^ Yay

@howverynice - That is a long list of insults. But there has been a lot of tit for tat you have to admit. (lol tit)

You've given just as much as you've received.

But surely it can be written off as harmless banter. :) I have no problem being perceived as a greasy, spotty teen. It's the nerd Stereotype isnt it.

I was actually thinking of overclocking an old Acer I have got lying around so I have signed up so I can find out a bit more about how to do it!

Pasty - but some of your cohorts' comments were beyond the pale. Hence why one of them has been deleted.

But heigh ho. I agree with Seph in that not all of you should be tarred with the same brush - just as we shouldn't.

But we're not the ones causing trouble in YOUR forum

Indeed, this is your forum. We shouldn't really be trying to invade and mediate you. FYI. We have a cat love thread on OCUK with plenty of pictures. Cats really are a universal language.
