So it seems that the guys over on pistonheads are laughing at mumsnetters:

Feel free to see what they are saying here:

Maybe I'll go and put an ad for my T25 on there. Didn't realise they had a Classifieds bit.

MonstrouslyNarkyPuffin · 26/10/2011 17:07

JJ333 links to the thread about sexual assault and calls it 'comedy gold.'

Sounds like a lovely place.

Whatmeworry · 26/10/2011 17:13

They are not entirely wrong about MN, must be said....

What interested me most was the assertion that MNHQ strong-armed them over some forum invasion (before I got here so don't know the ins and outs of it)

squeakyfreakytoy · 26/10/2011 17:16

For real bunny boilers, look at the feminist section on mumsnet - the rest of the site is relatively normal compared to them.

Its a fair point! Grin

Evilwater · 26/10/2011 17:24

It's a shame I can't post. I would have loved some proper insights into wheather a blue motion or a greeenline Skoda is better.

mistlethrush · 26/10/2011 17:25

A superficial glance at MN and, particularly picking certain sections doesn't necessarily give a very rounded picture of MN.

I know we were 'invaded' by a techy group (sorry tech, can't think of a better way of putting it) who changed their tone rather rapidly and some of them decided that they rather enjoyed the argy bargy that was allowed on some threads - the AIBU in particular.

It is quite amusing though that they can't swear Grin

I also find it interesting that MN allows people to post immediately upon registering and yet a forum like that feels it can't.

Is netmums really like that Shock I never saw any threads like that and got so put off by tickers and general tone that I gave up.

mistlethrush · 26/10/2011 17:27

Evilwater - I tried out the energy efficient skoda when I was looking for a replacement 18 months ago and I found it underpowered. The Bluemotion in the VW was much better, but much more expensive than the Skoda - so I stuck with the 1.9dti - its about run in now Hmm and I'm getting over 50 mpg on most journeys (unless DH is driving as he's heavy footed)

scaryteacher · 26/10/2011 17:28

PH is useful for advice on the cars, and I hope they note that some of us are petrol heads as well.

HeadlessLamAAARRRGHHHH · 26/10/2011 17:31

Similar to Usualsuspect I can't be arsed to join a forum where I'm not allowed to swear.

Evilwater · 26/10/2011 17:34

Just found a posting about how children change your life.

I can't believe they can't swear!

by 'they' you mean one person ?

I've seen two threads on MN describing how all men are rapists in the last few days. Both actions are disturbing but this is the internet.

Thingumy · 26/10/2011 17:44

Internet-serious business.

giyadas · 26/10/2011 17:44

SGM - Yes, I do. And they weren't the only ones, the Cliosport forum was also linking to it yesterday.
WTF is wrong with these men? Why do they get so incensed by women sharing their experiences?
And having posted vile misogynistic vitriol, they then come over here to say we're man-haters. Unfortunately there are a core of mners who are only too ready to agree with them. Hmm

Could you link to those threads you mentioned MrGin?

No you haven't MrGin. Twisting what you've read, and deliberately mis-understanding and mis-representing makes you look like an idiot.

giyadas · 26/10/2011 17:50

SGM - yes, I'm glad they're behind the campaign. Hopefully it'll start to make a real difference.

Beaverfeaver · 26/10/2011 17:53

I can't believe their topic got closed so soon. I think that means mumsnet won?!

I might be new on mumsnet, and yes I do frequent the pistonheads forums every so often (my DP is a member so it's just to keep an eye on him really) but I rarely post on there, and when I do I usually get silly/unhelpful responses that make me think I shouldn't have bothered. Prefer it here!
Pistonheads is good for selling /buying cars though, which is something I tend to do quite often as it happens.

usualsuspect · 26/10/2011 17:53

I didn't take any of their posts seriously tbh

They just sounded like a bunch of idiots

BertieBotts · 26/10/2011 17:55

I could be wrong, but weren't they the forum who had a couple of members who came onto an extremely sensitive thread in relationships and made a horrible, crass joke? Angry And then the thread discussing it on their site had loads of people saying "WTF would you post on the internet about that subject for anyway?? She was asking for her thread to be trolled."

MonstrouslyNarkyPuffin · 26/10/2011 17:56

Yes, I think so.
