a drunk conversation on a girls night sparked the conversation of shaving down there.... i was very surprised to hear that out of 11 females only 3 still had hair down there.... Its not something i ever thought about before, and in the conversation i was 1 of the 3 that wasn't completely bare down there lol i am now the center of several hairy jokes, which doesn't bother me as they are quite funny... But anyway, as none of us no each other on here my question is are most people bare down there?

Jenai - I know who he is, that's why I said 'intellectual name-dropping'. Wink

It was the way Luz said 'has NO-ONE...' in CAPS that ired me. Is she reading a different thread? Confused Lots of people had already raised the point!

melzyR · 26/10/2011 22:02

sorry all, your day is my night so this conversation has been happening while i was sleeping... I am actually amazed at the response!

the comment on midwifes etc having a joke about some womens pubes, i am actually quite Shock i was all natural when having dd at 19 now getting ready to have ds i feel rather self conscious on what i will look like down there...

The conversation that started this all with friends happened over a year ago, the hairy jokes don't bother me as some of them can actually be quite funny :)

I must admit i used to think that i would feel like a child having a baldy but after reading some comments yesterday i thought i would give it ago just the once...... so indeed i shaved last-night, dp has never once asked/hinted etc that i shave but i must admit he was more then happy/shocked and i did have the best oral sex of my life Blush

it does make me feel kind of sexy but in saying that if i will keep it up will be a different story and to be honest when preg with dd i put on alot of weight everywhere and even tho i lost the weight i still somehow.. how shall i say this... have a fat box??? lol i think the pubes make it look skinnier lmao Grin

FearfulYank · 26/10/2011 22:33

PMSL at "fat box." What a term. :o

Thingumy · 26/10/2011 22:42

fat box is true.arf.

Moominsarescary · 26/10/2011 22:43

Mine got stretch marks whilst pg with ds1 so it is a little sparse in places, I did leave it natural whilst pg with ds3+4 who both came early before I had a chance to let dp loose with the razor

I must say I don't give a rats ass what the midwife, student midwife, doctors and consultant thought of it

LadyWord · 27/10/2011 09:21

Isn't your "box" supposed to be a bit fat? I mean kind of cushioned like a bum.

FearfulYank · 27/10/2011 09:47

:o hahahhahaha!

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 27/10/2011 10:09

Grin countess

I thought of an hilarious joke about Haralambos last night. If only I could remember it...

yaimee · 27/10/2011 11:26

Shaved for years, was extremely relieved when DP told me a couple of years ago that he didn't care. Am now as nature intended!

hwjm1945 · 29/10/2011 10:12

Late to be posting this, bt the fat box comment made me laugh so much. I have a stubborn 3/ or 4 kilos post pregs thta 6 years on I have given up worrying about, but actually, now she mentions it, I do havea fat box! Is this weight gain, getting older or pregnancy, can others please help?

knittedbreast · 29/10/2011 10:55

It not shocking drs and midwifes etc laugh at us, people are funny!

If they are not doing it in front of you they are doing their job well- respectful and well mannered to you. what does it matter what they say in the staff room/pub at the end of the shift?

I am shaved at the front and very neat underneath.

catgirl1976 · 29/10/2011 12:01

Given the divide on this topic I think a midwife or doctor is just a likely to judge you for being hairless as hairy.

I don't think its worth worrying about what other people might or might not think - as long as they don't let on you'll never know.

Health care professionals are not saints - they will judge as much as anyone else in life. They might pass judgement on your weight, your looks, your haircut, what you are wearing. You can't go around worrying about it and who cares what anyone else thinks anyway? If you are happy with your look / choice it really doesnt matter what anyone else thinks.

Solo · 30/10/2011 00:28

So, no one has yet admitted to sporting a sparkly vajazzle then?! Hmm

PoppaRob · 30/10/2011 05:28

Time for male input. I have a beard, I have a hairy chest, I shave my pubic hair totally including dick and balls daily when I shower. Have done for about 10 years now. It takes all of a minute with Dove soap and a good quality disposable razor, and I like the way it feels. Simple as that.

FearfulYank · 30/10/2011 05:47

Every day PoppaRob ! That is commitment!

seeker · 30/10/2011 06:37

Interesting that pre - oh, about 1990ish women must have gone round covered in poo and blood clots because of our pubic hair! Thank heavens for those lovely public health campaigners, Mr Hefner and his friends.

PoppaRob · 30/10/2011 06:59

Fearful, I have a beard and just shave my neck below it, so the time I spend tending the pubes is probably about the same as the time most blokes do shaving their faces. Swings and roundabouts so to speak! :)

microfight · 30/10/2011 07:06

There's judging which of course everyone does but laughing about someone who has natural hair on the fanjo is well, just strange!
I know and have lived with many medical students over different decades and have heard many a story down the pub. However, the stories we heard were genuinely Shock If any of the students or doctors I knew told a story about a fanjo with hair on it I think it would kill any laughter or banter for just being boring.

notyummy · 30/10/2011 08:06

Grin at Seeker.

Indeed.

TipOfTheSlung · 31/10/2011 21:17

I read that as pubic health campaigners which is apt (or not)

Bakelitebelle · 31/10/2011 21:29

This thread has been an education to me. I am nearly 50 and of the generation where educated, left-leaning women would often chose not to shave their armpits or even their legs. Shaving their fannies was definitely not on the cards. Natural was good.

Really shocked that younger women want to have fannies like pre-pubescent girls. Sorry if it's been said already, but I can only despair at the message this gives young men

edam · 31/10/2011 21:29

I tried shaving it all off once. It was flipping cold! What on earth do all you waxed or lasered women do in winter - wear a muff on your muff?

Each to their own and all that but it does make me uncomfortable that some people think it's gross to have public hair - how bizarre - and that it's part of the porn aesthetic. Normal women shouldn't be made to feel odd because they don't look like actresses in porn movies, FGS. Oh, and there's something quite unpleasant about the idea that women have to look pre-pubertal to be sexually appealing. In a culture that demonises paedophiles (quite correctly) its deeply odd that fashion and culture is putting pressure on women to make their genitalia look child-like. Yuck.

motherinferior · 31/10/2011 21:36

John Ruskin apparently fainted on his wedding night at the sight of his wife's pubic hair, you know.

I cannot, by the way, say that the sight of my untrimmed bush has ever caused any gentlemen caller to make his excuses and leave. And back in the day, a lot of gentlemen called Wink

seeker · 31/10/2011 22:33

Did anyone read that article in the Guardian ( God, I am such a stereotype!) about women who have their labias trimmed because, apparently they are "uncomfortable" if they are too big.

Women justifying buying in to a pornographic aesthetic by citing comfort and hygeine - how deeply depressing is that.

Solo · 31/10/2011 22:54

Actually seeker they can be uncomfortable. I occasionally wish mine away, but would never actually have it done. Lucky are those that don't have to give them any thought at all.
