purse in their bag, zipping their bag up, faffing around really annoy me. Can't they just move to the side so someone else can get served. AIBU to be pissed off with them? (Yes, I do have PMT)

and you should have just handed your item to the cashier regardless. She made you wait, you waited. Theres the two of you in it!

StarlightMcKenzie · 25/10/2011 16:34

Sounds like me when I know I have a huffer behind me in the queue. I won't be bullied, I'l be S.....L.....O.....W and check every single pocket numerous times for a tissue I don't need before I even pay!

mumblechum1 · 25/10/2011 16:35

I think it's really inconsiderate and bad manners to:

  1. Faff about at the checkout when there are people behind you
  1. Ditto when there's only 1 loo and a huge queue (like at Crystal Palace th other week when some bimbo took 12 farking minutes and there were 11 people waiting!
  1. Drive really really slowly when there's a queue behind you. Pull in and let them past!

It's just good manners to think about the people behind you imo.

duchesse · 25/10/2011 16:35

I really hate people who tut, express annoyance, tap or roll their eyes at people whose circumstances they know nothing of and do not know at all just for being themselves. Do you seriously suppose that people deliberately hold others up on purpose? I prefer to err on the side of assuming that people do not set out with the express intention of pissing others off. I find I get a lot less annoyed in general that way.

limitedperiodonly · 25/10/2011 16:35

Whenever possible I always count out the correct money when shopping, making full use of small change.

That has the double bonus of lightening my load and really pissing off people such as the OP.

StarlightMcKenzie · 25/10/2011 16:36

Dotty WHAT?

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 25/10/2011 16:36

At least she wasn't gabbing away on her mobile, Belle.

I have several times recently bordered on frothing berserkery at the sight of people seemingly unable to put their conversation on hold for a moment in order to engage with the checkout process.

That's dissing me and the cashier. The fuckers.

duchesse · 25/10/2011 16:37

mumble- did you ever stop to consider that 12 mn "bimbo" might have been in the middle of her period or have IBS or have just had really news and needed a private cry?

lolaflores · 25/10/2011 16:37

YABU. and rude, don't care if you have PMT. Where was the fire? The basics of civilisation are a bit of give and take. Deep breath and carry on

Tchootnika · 25/10/2011 16:41

It's just good manners to think about the people behind you

Yep, most definitely!
All the better if you can be considerate to those in front, too... and on a good day, perhaps even those to the sides.
Can slow things down a bit though, and I mean, really, the effort of being considerate to all those other people. How very cumbersome.
Far easier to just gnash your teeth and persuade yourself that only your needs/pace are 'normal' ... especially if the culprit in front is a HEALTHY YOUNG WOMAN - damn the lot of them! Angry Angry Angry

Right, where's me Daily Mail?

belledechocchipcookie · 25/10/2011 16:42

The fire was in my BLADDER, lora!

I hate people on their mobiles, and people who ask for stupid things that your shop can't possibly sell. Do Superdrug sell swimming costumes? Duh! Why the hell do people ask for them? They sell tampons, shampoo, toothpaste. Why the hell do people think it's OK for them to stock bloomin swimming costumes? (I'm not making this up).

People should hurry up, unless they are disabled. The person behind you may be in a hurry.

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 25/10/2011 16:42

oh gawd, you'd HATE me! Blush

I have to arrange my shopping on the conveyor belt so that the assistant scans it in the order I need it to be in so that it is easy for me to put everything in the right bags. I then have to tie the handles of each bag and put them in the trolley. Then pull out my purse.

lolaflores · 25/10/2011 16:44

belledechocchipcookie piss down your leg then. you can't give a fuck about anyone, why should they? simples.

ShatnersBassoon · 25/10/2011 16:44

Why shouldn't disabled people hurry up? It might strengthen them a bit, if they try to keep up with normal people's expectations. You're being too generous with your precious time.

Hmm
pigletmania · 25/10/2011 16:44

Yabvu people just want to be cautious that they have put their cards back in their purse and their money is all there and in their purse. My carelessness meant that I dropped my bank card at the till and had to cancel it. Better be safe than sorry, if you don't like it do your supermarket shop online

CurrySpice · 25/10/2011 16:45

OP it pisses me off no end. But I have the good grace to realise that IABU

belledechocchipcookie · 25/10/2011 16:45

Why Hecate dear? Dump your items on the belt, put them into the trolley, pay, then put then put them into the bags later. There's a little space with tables and chairs for this. FWIW, I order all of my food online. The people who stand and have conversations in supermarket isles are just too much for me. Grin

Bupcakes is right about prattling on to fellow queuers.

Were any parents in the shop with their children?

Unsolicited parenting advice from strangers in shops always goes down well ime.

Such a wasted opportunity :(

lolaflores · 25/10/2011 16:47

OP. Suck it up princess.Grin

Tchootnika · 25/10/2011 16:47

belle - are you suffering some sort of delayed rage from working in Superdrug all those years ago?
You sound as if you're having flashbacks everytime you spend time in a shop queue.

belledechocchipcookie · 25/10/2011 16:47

Goodness, some of you are very rude. Do you not get out much?

OP posts:
OriginalGhoster · 25/10/2011 16:47

Or

People should slow down, the person behind you may not be in a hurry.

Getting stressed about things that are just part of normal human experience is bad for your own health, and is unlikely to change anyone else's behavior.

OhYouBadBadGhostie · 25/10/2011 16:49

yabu. I'm young(ish) but when my arthritis has kept me awake half the night and my fingers are cold and stiff, its all I can do to coordinate getting my money out of my purse without half of it rolling all over the floor. I do my best but having a stressy person behind doesnt help coordination.

You have to remind yourself when someone is all slooow that speed isnt the most important thing in life.

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 25/10/2011 16:49

In my defence, I am really really fast! (years of practice) And the arranging is often done while the person in front of me is still being served. Grin

I don't know why Blush I just have to, or it's wrong. It's got to all go in the right bags in the right order.

It's never occured to me to try to put a trolley full back into the trolley and then try and bag it all up from the trolley in the trolley into the trolley away from the tills. I would imagine that would be really awkward.

belledechocchipcookie · 25/10/2011 16:49

Na, I was always nice Tchootnika. The customers who were too engrossed in their conversations to pay were a tad draining on the old soul though. The shop wouldn't let me use a cattle prod. Sad
