purse in their bag, zipping their bag up, faffing around really annoy me. Can't they just move to the side so someone else can get served. AIBU to be pissed off with them? (Yes, I do have PMT)

Pisses me off no end.

I am not impatient either, it is the sheer lack of respect, when they can see you are waiting, but still faff around sorting receipts, fiddling with bags etc.
Gets on my tits at petrol stations too.

Thank you. I though it was just me. I want to poke some of them with a cattle prod. People who stand really close to you in a queue also, I want to 'accidently' stumble backwards and stand on their toes. They really piss me off.

If you have ever had your purse stolen you wouldnt be criticising, I promise you.

Yes it is annoying but there are far more important things to get wound up about.

I'm with you when it's a young person but older people get in a muddle and forget where they've put their purse....and get cared of being robbed...so I don't mind them faffing.
People who do the faffing at cashpoints annoy me too.

The other day I was (just) behind a gent in the queue who was buying a birthday card and nothing else. I had 3 heavy items stacked up in my arms (only local shops not supermarket) and he faffed and faffed and was a real PITA at the till. I use the term gent loosely.....

When I get to the checkout I look to see who is likely to pack quickly and join that one. It can often be better to go for one with a lot of goods than one with a few and a person who looks as if they won't pay until all the goods are packed in a painstaking manner.

YABU. I have had food stolen by the customer in front of me because the cashier was in such a rush to put the food through; and only yesterday I felt obliged to rush packing my food and I left something behind - it wasn't in my bag when I got home, but it was certainly on the receipt.

You could do with learning some patience.

Mumling, just move to the side and let the person behind you get served quicker. It's not rocket science. Check where you've but your purse by all means, just move out of the way.

I can't always shop online for things. I can't see Boots delivering me a drink.

I've seen people grunt at the cashiers, horrible people.

I never said I was in the supermarket. Actually it was in Boots and there was one person serving. The customer in front took 5 minutes (there's a clock) because she rearranged her bags. Confused Why??

On the other hand, some of the people who get excessively exercised about this are themselves pretty anti-social. Once the woman behind me in a queue came up to me as I put my card away and shouted "get yourself together woman!". Aside from the fact that I was behaving perfectly reasonably, it was one of those checkouts with multiple tills serving one long queue, and since she'd been behind me all along I must have been the speediest of all those ahead of her Confused.

They do that in the shops Fleur. I worked in Superdrug several years ago for a summer, some will dump their basket and let you scan the items/pack before even bothering to open their bags to get their purse out. I really feel for the poor sods behind who have half an hour for their lunch.

Believe it or not, supermarkets are open for everyone to use, not just the super busy and fast customers! If a customer wants to be sure s/he has everything before moving away then s/he is at perfect liberty to and you can rant and rave all you like but it seems like a massive waste of energy to me when it is something you cant do anything about!

As Belgo said, learn some patience and chill!

She was just rude Veronica. Of course you need to put your card away. Taking so long that you could actually print yourself a new card is taking it to extremes though.

My mother is one of these people. Tell her she's a pain in the arse and is ruining your day next time you have the misfortune to stand behind her in a shop. She's the one with fingers disfigured and disabled by arthritis and a tremor, which you'll spot if you look closely but probably not from a few feet away.

The people that huff and puff behind you when you are packing, putting your purse in bag etc are the ones that piss me off. You really need the extra 30 seconds that you'll gain by climbing up someones arse to hurry them up?

and what if the person in front of you has arthritis or tendinitis? I get painful tendinitis, you don't see it, but it makes manipulating things very hard. There are millions of people with arthritis, and it won't help if someone is behind them standing impatiently.

People should have more consideration Bogey. Is there any need to go through all of her shopping to make sure she had everything? Even if the shopping wasn't from that shop? Was there any need for her to check her pocket for a tissue in case she wanted to blow her nose later? I think not.

She thinks there is, yes. And as you are behind her in the queue you just have to suck it up or shop elsewhere.

"Should"s are all very well, but some people are slow and thats that. Why waste your energy getting pissed off about it.

You have spent longer on MN moaning about it than you did waiting in the queue!

Depends how extreme you are going. When I shop I tend to be entertaining DD, lots of bags etc and can be very absent minded, so I make sure I put my card back in my wallet, wallet in bag, receipt in top of shopping bag etc before moving off. I don't see that as unreasonable, just the culmination of the transaction. I think it is more rude to deny someone that 20 seconds to be honest.

Moving away from the till in most supermarkets moves you into the thoroughfare, where someone would prob think you unreasonable to be putting your belongings away there too! If other people are that much of a bother I would do my shopping online (which I tend to do anyway most of the time).

Heaven forbid someone may be delayed for a minute, unless the fate of the world is depending on it, in which case I could understand their impatience.
