To expect dh not to eat the Peshwari Nan? Warning - ranty and trivial.

We had an Indian takeaway tonight which is a big treat in our family.

We ordered 2 nan breads because dh doesn't like Peshwari Nan and the rest of us don't like Garlic Nan.

Dh also gets a meat curry and me, dd and ds share a veggie one.

Dh gets a rice to himself and I share a rice with the 2 dcs.

So, to recap, dh gets a whole curry, whole rice and whole garlic nan to himself while I share all of my food with the dcs.

Am I being unreasonable to complain when he eats the peshwari nan, meaning I got none and ds only got one small piece, when there is garlic nan sitting there uneaten?

When I commented - in a calm tone - about him having a whole nan and that I now had none his comment was, "Oh, here we go!"

I know it is trivial and hardly life changing Grin but am I being unreasonable to be a bit annoyed with him and his selfish currying ways.

If it is relevant it was me who drove the 16 mile round trip to get the curry and me who paid for it too Angry

Ooh you have name changed. Congratulations on dd Grin that is lovely news.

Have you searched the rescue centres yet? They are usually overflowing with rabbits at this time of year as people can't be bothered caring for them over the winter Sad

He obviously doesn't dislike Peshwari naan so it makes things easier next time as you order 2 peshwari naans and no garlic ones, or 1 garlic one and 1 peshwari naans and give him the garlic one on a special plate.
Putting them both on the same plate and letting him have some of the peshwari one sounds like a mistake.
I think you were unreasonable to only point out which naan he was supposed to have eaten after he had eaten the other one as he was obviously happy eating either and you sound fussier than he is..

Carrotsandcelery · 17/10/2011 22:36

The naan were on different plates. He knew he was eating Peshwari naan and he knew that he was the only one who ate the garlic naan. If he had managed to wait until I was actually at the table then I would have been able to point him in the right direction. The fact that his was distinctly green and ours was distinctly orange was a huge giveaway though, as was the coconut rather than garlic flavour Grin

thats really unreasonable of him. I'm shocked that people are shocked that you share that amount of food with your kids, takeaways are massive, there is no way you could eat a whole portion of everything and as a family we never would! And I am fat lol!

Tortington · 17/10/2011 22:39

tbh if your sharing your food with the kids it;s either becuase you can;t eat it all or becuase your a martyr.

so thats not the point at all

the point is he ate your naan and hes a cunt

a greedy fat cunt

kick him in the cunt

the cunt

Putrifyno · 17/10/2011 22:43

What Custy said. And I want a peshwari nan now.

susiedaisy · 17/10/2011 22:48

This thread is hilarious Grin and now I'm bloody hungrySad

SpookhettiTwirlerAndProud · 18/10/2011 00:23

She's just over 17 weeks old now! Can't believe how quickly the time has flown! There are some pictures in my photos on here, if they haven't vanished again that is [hhmm] but beware, she is unbearably cute :o

Next time I get on the computer I'm going to start searching for one! Hope I manage to find one soon.

diddl · 18/10/2011 08:02

He ate what was closest-even though he doesn´t like it?Confused

So you can serve up anything at all, & as long as you leave it close enough, he´ll eat it?Grin

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 18/10/2011 10:28

YABU to not like garlic naan. They are delicious.

There are some very clear rules on Indian takeaway ordering in our house but the most important of those are that I always have a portion of spinach chicken with skinny fries (even if obtaining those fries requires a trip to a different takeaway) and a garlic naan.

And nobody is to expect to share any of it with me until I am too fat to move full and can't eat any more.

You people with your "lets all order something different and share" can get stuffed. I've fallen for that one before and what it means is everyone eats my spinach chicken first because it is vastly superior to whatever vile, creamy, coconutty crap they ordered and I'm left with a teeny-tiny portion of spinach with no chicken in it, a spoonful each of five different, disgusting looking gooey curries and no garlic naan but a share of something that looks like woodshavings on a pizza base.

No. Not anymore, not in my house matey. If anyone so much as looks at my spinach chicken or garlic naan they are in danger of getting a stab in the hand from my fork. LO excepted in all of that because he's showing signs of inheriting my spinach/garlic tendencies and I think they need encouraging. One of his first full sentences was "It's MY garlic!"

An extra naan bread can't cost too much more OP but if that's not the way you want to go, I promise you a stabbity face and a sudden gesture at his hand with a fork will soon put a stop to his naan stealing ways.

PopcornMouse · 18/10/2011 11:31

YANBU! My DH does this too. In fact, he will "share" mine, and he will somehow end up with enough of his to have for lunch the following day, but all mine will be gone Hmm and then I will get ranted at if I refuse to "share" with him!

mrskbpw · 18/10/2011 12:34

This is making me hungry. And VERY glad that I live in London. 16 miles for a curry?! That's crazy! And 12 miles for chips?! How far do you have to go to get to a supermarket or school? Ooh I wouldn't like that. calms self by listening to police sirens in distance

littlewish · 18/10/2011 12:58

god, I am starving reading all this about naan breads!!! I've decided what's for tea - CURRY! Yum

YANBU I certainly would be extremly miffed if someone pinched my naan btw.

MrsMooo · 18/10/2011 13:59

YABU to not like garlic naan

And if you want to save money, order more naan and make your own rice, just as nice and WAY cheaper

I still don't understand why he ate a whole naan he didn't like, so he is being vvv.unreasonable for eating it at all and because he didn't like it

I also now want a curry

Mmmmmmm curry

Ormirian · 18/10/2011 14:02

Didn't you notice before he ate it Confused

I bloody well would have Shock

I only like plain naan bread TBH -anything else is rank.

Hassled · 18/10/2011 14:03

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes - I am slightly scared of you now :o.

I'm of the "let's everyone share" camp, except when they share too much of the one I've randomly decided is actually mine. A lot of time and effort goes into the positioning of the takeway boxes around my spot on the table.

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 18/10/2011 15:07

Hassled - if that scared you then you really don't want to be near me when I'm taking possession of the sweet chilli dip from Dominos [stabbity grin]

NoOnesGoingToEatYourEyes · 18/10/2011 16:08

Smithy speaks wise words verlain

All he was missing was a stabbity face and a fork and he'd be spot on. Grin

susiedaisy · 18/10/2011 17:34

noonesgoingtoeatyoureyesGrinGrin

architien · 18/10/2011 18:48

Yes all this talk is very unreasonable.

I want curry tonight.

I'll put it on your tab at the local TA.

Tyrionlovingyourwork · 18/10/2011 19:13

peshwari naan is ground almond with pistachio if posh (not coconut in my book)

it is known verlain

You need to order another takeaway and report back on lesson learning

Carrotsandcelery · 18/10/2011 21:27

verlain I am learning here - Smithy is indeed wise and will henceforth be my curry ordering mentor. I am also perfecting my stabbity face and plan to have a special fork ready in the car so I can come in the door brandishing it Grin

I will also show dh the link, should he ever come home from work Hmm

bigbarnfarmer · 13/01/2012 15:36

I would be bloody furious tbh.

I would feel like divorcing the bastard but then i LOVE peshwari nan and currently have pmt.

You are def not being unreasonable.

I'd be raging too.

Surprised at the number of people who commented about buying more food/nipping out for more. I also live miles away from a take away and consider them a treat (money wise and health wise) and surely this was missing the point.

Next time i'd accidently buy him a vindaloo.

OnlyANinja · 13/01/2012 15:41

I hope Carrots is over it by now - it was 2 1/2 months ago...
