To expect dh not to eat the Peshwari Nan? Warning - ranty and trivial.

We had an Indian takeaway tonight which is a big treat in our family.

We ordered 2 nan breads because dh doesn't like Peshwari Nan and the rest of us don't like Garlic Nan.

Dh also gets a meat curry and me, dd and ds share a veggie one.

Dh gets a rice to himself and I share a rice with the 2 dcs.

So, to recap, dh gets a whole curry, whole rice and whole garlic nan to himself while I share all of my food with the dcs.

Am I being unreasonable to complain when he eats the peshwari nan, meaning I got none and ds only got one small piece, when there is garlic nan sitting there uneaten?

When I commented - in a calm tone - about him having a whole nan and that I now had none his comment was, "Oh, here we go!"

I know it is trivial and hardly life changing Grin but am I being unreasonable to be a bit annoyed with him and his selfish currying ways.

If it is relevant it was me who drove the 16 mile round trip to get the curry and me who paid for it too Angry

Men can eat a lot more than women without putting weight on... FACT!
Accept it and move on.

picnicbasketcase · 16/10/2011 19:35

Why doesn't the takeaway deliver? Bastard bloody thoughtless non delivering gits. At least then you wouldn't have had to drive to get the food as well as be deprived of it.

SardineQueen · 16/10/2011 19:42

God LORD his behaviour is UTTERLY UNASSEPTABLE.

Retrain him to get the drinks while you and the kids have the pick of what you want first. Use a sticker chart if needs be. His behaviour is stunningly outrageous.

Do feel free to post on the relationships board if this happens again Sad

VivaLeBeaver · 16/10/2011 19:44

Yanbu.

Peshwari naans are the best and I would murder dh if he ate it all.

ScarahStratton · 16/10/2011 19:46

There is something about Peshwari naan that is sheer perfection.

Pascha · 16/10/2011 19:51

Aside from the fact that Peshwari naans are vile and I would have the garlic one, our nearest takeaway is a 10min drive through 2 villages so I would also do supermarket ones. I can happily eat my way through almost a whole portion of rice and dopiaza and sag aloo, so sharing is not really an option for me.

SpookhettiTwirlerAndProud · 16/10/2011 19:52

picnic maybe the takeaway does deliver but only upto a few miles away, I know plenty a couple of takeaways who only deliver if you live in the same town.

Give me garlic naan any day. Coconut?

Yanbu btw.

IgnoringTheChildren · 16/10/2011 19:52

I want a peshwari naan now...

Your DH was BVU.

toddlerwrangler · 16/10/2011 19:55

The BASTARD. The utter BASTARD.

Nan theft (even shitty pashwari) is punishable by death. Or at least a scotch bonnett being rubbed over his knob. But preferably death.

rhondajean · 16/10/2011 20:01

2 curries, 2 rice and 2 naans are more than enough for 2 adults and 2 children - I am shocked some of you think it isnt! We would probably get one naan between us - its also very high calorie (sadly).

YANBU though, he said he didnt like it, you bought what he did like, and then he ate yours! It doesnt happen in our house - I am erm not a good sharerquite sensitive about food being taken from me.

rhondajean · 16/10/2011 20:02

damn, score out didnt work!

Xiaoxiong · 16/10/2011 20:09

He managed to neck an entire peshwari naan the size of a dinner plate while you were getting drinks, before you had even served yourself? Confused

Next time, order two peshwari naans.

Tyr · 16/10/2011 20:14

I'd have killed him. After the first bite. Alternatively, you could make the punishment fit the crime. If you can handle hot curries yourself, give him a BJ with a mouthful of extra strength vindaloo.
That will teach the theiving bastard.

Bellavita · 16/10/2011 20:17

Admittedly my DS's are 14 and 12, but I could not get away with ordering anything less than one meal each, one rice each, one naan and two chapatis.

I have 3/4 of my rice and the other 1/4 goes to DH to go with his full portion.

We do not have takeaways very often as it costs nigh on £40.

But yes, naans are calorific.

TheSkiingGardener · 16/10/2011 20:17

Fresh Naans in the chiller cabinets are usually quite good. Long life ones on the shelves are crap.

BUT, however good they are your DH was BU. and his comment obviously suggests he knew he had taken a trip to titsville and was trying to deflect the conversation.

longjane · 16/10/2011 20:20

I would cook the rice at home that is is way we save money and I am always happy with super market nans . Like the real ones is i am eating in restaurant though but takeaways I just get the curries.

Bellavita · 16/10/2011 20:20

BoF - we drive 15 miles each way for our Indian takeaway. We live in the sticks. They would not deliver to us.

Bellavita · 16/10/2011 20:23

Trills, that so would no work in our house. DS1 always goes for a madras, DS2 likes a mild one, DH likes something spicy and I like something inbetween.

However, if we have chinese, then we all share the dishes.

LeBOOOf · 16/10/2011 20:23

Does it not get cold? God, I wouldn't drive fifteen miles to eat Johnny Depp.

squeakytoy · 16/10/2011 20:25

I would..... Blush

Bellavita · 16/10/2011 20:27

Nope it is fine, plus I have the plates warming in the oven. But BoF one has to do whatever is necessary if we want a takeaway.

Mmmm Johnny Depp.

Pascha · 16/10/2011 20:28

12 miles for us from the chippy and actually they are all still very hot when it gets here.

I would definitely drive 115 15 miles to eat Johnny Depp...

...

with ketchup...

mmm...

Rikalaily · 16/10/2011 20:30

Why did he eat something he doesn't like? I would have slapped him around the head with the garlic naan for his selfish greediness and next time order 2 peshwari naans! Git.

MrsBaggins · 16/10/2011 20:30

I would be more annoyed the "Oh here we go " comment Hmm
