To expect dh not to eat the Peshwari Nan? Warning - ranty and trivial.

We had an Indian takeaway tonight which is a big treat in our family.

We ordered 2 nan breads because dh doesn't like Peshwari Nan and the rest of us don't like Garlic Nan.

Dh also gets a meat curry and me, dd and ds share a veggie one.

Dh gets a rice to himself and I share a rice with the 2 dcs.

So, to recap, dh gets a whole curry, whole rice and whole garlic nan to himself while I share all of my food with the dcs.

Am I being unreasonable to complain when he eats the peshwari nan, meaning I got none and ds only got one small piece, when there is garlic nan sitting there uneaten?

When I commented - in a calm tone - about him having a whole nan and that I now had none his comment was, "Oh, here we go!"

I know it is trivial and hardly life changing Grin but am I being unreasonable to be a bit annoyed with him and his selfish currying ways.

If it is relevant it was me who drove the 16 mile round trip to get the curry and me who paid for it too Angry

Save money in the future and buy supermarket naans.. they are just as nice and someone can put it in the oven while the other one is driving back from the indian takeaway..

The one with meat in is a keema naan btw..

TadlowDogIncident · 16/10/2011 19:16

But supermarket naans are blech and the ones from the takeaway are delicious! That's not a reasonable solution. (Also, does your supermarket sell peshwari naan? It's posher than mine if it does!)

jade80 · 16/10/2011 19:17

I'd be pissed off too! But it wouldn't happen, because

a. I would say 'oi mitts off my bread, that's yours'.

b. I would have ordered 3 naans for 2 kids and 2 adults. One each for adults, one between kids.

So YANBU to be pissed off but YABU for letting him eat it and for not ordering enough.

yousankmybattleship · 16/10/2011 19:18

You are not being trivial. Peshwari naans are gorgeous. You should have got yourself a coconut rice too though. Next time eat the naan in the car on the way home!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 16/10/2011 19:19

You should order more food. Your dh, however shouldn't have eaten the naan, no way would dh come between me and my naan....he would not liveGrin

However op, it's not really your dh's fault if you don't order enough food for you and your dc's. That sounds a teeny bit martyr-ish if I'm honest.

Clearly he does like peshwari naan - so dont order garlic naan next time.

Carrotsandcelery · 16/10/2011 19:19

Ok to clarify:
there is veggie curry and our rice left over.
there is meat curry and some of his rice left over.
there is garlic nan left over.
THERE IS NO PESHWARI NAN LEFT OVER.
he ate it before I noticed - why I do not know - before I had even served myself in fact as I was getting everyone a drink.
I am not in the habit of ranting at him.
the nan are about the size of a dinner plate.
we don't order more as this order costs £28 as it is.
there would have been enough if he had eaten his own nan and left my our peshwari nan alone.

picnic Grin

By the way - if you do leave him on strength of the whole naan-snaarfing incident please consider getting yourself a house that has a decent indian takeaway less than eight miles away.

diddl · 16/10/2011 19:21

"Clearly he does like peshwari naan - so dont order garlic naan next time."

And with any luck perhaps he won´t like it anymore & you´ll get both.

UrsulaBuffayTheVampireSlayer · 16/10/2011 19:22

next time get one rice and 3 naans.

Trills · 16/10/2011 19:22

You must get very big portions If you + 2 kids can't manage a whole veggie curry with rice.

jade80 · 16/10/2011 19:22

Supermarket naans are not usually as good! Which do you buy?

TheFallenMadonna · 16/10/2011 19:22

How on earth is there veggie curry and your rice left over when you are sharing it one between 3?!

And why does he get a rice to himself and you share with the children? Is it meaty rice? Confused

BleachedWhale · 16/10/2011 19:24

Better still leave him for the man who runs the Indian restaurant.

GHAHSTLYGHOULYpants · 16/10/2011 19:25

op serious like, you said you paid for it, don't you share money when you have kids?

molepom · 16/10/2011 19:25

LEAVE THE BASTARD

squeakytoy · 16/10/2011 19:26

Sainsburys "taste the difference" naans are very good.. but so are almost any other.. the trick is to splash water all over them first before putting into a hot oven.. and I guarantee they will be better than one that has one sat in a foil bag for at least fifteen minutes and gone soggy with the steam.

backwardpossom · 16/10/2011 19:29

nan or naan?

jade80 · 16/10/2011 19:30

Thanks sueaky I'll give them a go! I just remember crap dry ones years ago and have never tried them again since!

LeBOOOf · 16/10/2011 19:30

Who can be arsed to drive eight miles each way for a curry?

AnnoyingOrange · 16/10/2011 19:31

esepcially a third of a veggie one

SlackSally · 16/10/2011 19:32

Personally, I find takeaway curry portions massive and I'm really, truly not one of those people with a bird-like appetite. Because my DP is a big eater, I always end up with a curry and nan on my own as he wants one to himself and I never, ever finish it. I also have about a quarter of his rice.

I bow down in deference to someone who can eat a whole rice, nan, curry and starter to themselves.

Trills · 16/10/2011 19:32

People who live in the middle of nowhere BoF, that's who.

I like living somewhere where they bring the curry to you.

Carrotsandcelery · 16/10/2011 19:32

Oh it is probably naan Blush

The portions are huge and my dcs don't have massive appetites which, along with the price, is why we don't order more. We always have left overs. and I am a greedy mare

Trills · 16/10/2011 19:32

People who have a curry to themselves are doing it wrong - you need to get different ones that you both like so you can have some of each.
