And am loving it even more after reading this thread and snorting at the indignation and offence caused. Priceless Grin

fedupofnamechanging · 14/10/2011 17:11

Is anyone offended? Finding something not funny and thinking it could be a lot better, is a bit different from finding something offensive.

giyadas · 14/10/2011 17:12

what Hully said.
And I don't think that the comedian unploaded it herself.

2rebecca · 14/10/2011 17:13

The how dare a dirty workman shit in my sacred shrine of a toilet thread is the only one I've seen recently that bares some resemblance to the stuff she is talking about, perhaps I normally avoid the precious princess threads.

JamieComeHome · 14/10/2011 17:13

I'm a bit offended, I suppose. I just find it a bit sad, lazy, unintelligent to make comedy out of something that is patently-bleedin-obvious if-you- believe-what-the -DM-says.

To me, things are funny if I recognise them. I am quite attached to this forum and it's just too easy to diss it based on a few AIBU threads

JamieComeHome · 14/10/2011 17:15

Also, I think that we are intelligent enough to know that we are enjoying trivial conversations about stuff that doesn't much matter.

Hullygully · 14/10/2011 17:15

I'm not offended. Just thought it was rubbish.

Whatmeworry · 14/10/2011 17:15

Yup, the She is BU comments on this thread are as good as the routine :o

worraliberty · 14/10/2011 17:15

I can honestly say I've never read the Daily Mail in my whole life and yet I recognised exactly what she was saying from just MumsNet Grin

She really should have mentioned white linen Mumsy trousers somewhere though!

JamieComeHome · 14/10/2011 17:17

I recognised that a few of those things are the case. But it just doesn't sum up MN. to me.

Her delivery is good, but I didn't laugh

FunnysInTheGarden · 14/10/2011 17:17

just marking so I can listen when I get home and pass judgement.......

FlossieFromCrapstonVillas · 14/10/2011 17:17

To the offended: Little & Large & Jimmy Cricket are >>>>> That way.

(That was tongue in cheek, please do not be offended Smile )

JamieComeHome · 14/10/2011 17:18
Smile
working9while5 · 14/10/2011 17:22

This is excruciating. Seriously. Lighten up MN. Lazy reliance on media perception my arse. There are plenty planet raping, 4x4 driving, Waitrose shopping, Nigel Slater worshipping, Boden wearing, nanny using whatevers here. It is cringe-inducing to read the conspiracists (laugh track!), ham-fisted critiques and passive-aggressive put downs, particularly in AIBU. It's a broad brush stroke, if it's not to your taste fine, but don't behave like twats.

Hullygully · 14/10/2011 17:22

working, your post leaves me utterly baffled.

MidsomerM · 14/10/2011 17:25

I found it amusing, but to be honest I didn't really recognise MN in it. I'm not sure how MN has got this reputation, because I've never really seen any evidence of it. Made me laugh though.

Maisiethemorningsidecat · 14/10/2011 17:26

Interesting - I understood it perfectly. Esp. enjoyed the "Daily Mail reader" cry that went up Grin

It's all very predictable, but I like predictable.

mycatsaysach · 14/10/2011 17:27

v funny - can we not laugh at ourselves ? Grin

JamieComeHome · 14/10/2011 17:28

working - I think we're entitled to express not only that we don't really find it funny, and also why.

Shutupanddrive · 14/10/2011 17:29

What's with the fake laughter? Couldnt be bothered to listen to the whole thing tbh
Yabu and not really that funny either

JamieComeHome · 14/10/2011 17:29

mycat - I think we do laugh at ourselves quite a lot on MN.

giyadas · 14/10/2011 17:29

When other comedians are discussed, posters comment on what they like and don't like about them. This thread is no different. What I find cringe inducing is needless hyperbole and imposing the label of 'offended' to people who express any criticism.

JamieComeHome · 14/10/2011 17:31
lubeybooby · 14/10/2011 17:31

I thought it was rubbish sorry.

And nooooooo I'm not a blonde bobbed organic anything eating smug mum or anything like that.... far from it! I haven't taken any offence in the slightest. It just wasn't funny.

The last joke made me smile but not laugh.

Robotindisguise · 14/10/2011 17:33

What actually is very funny is how much she'll cringe when she does have tiny children and realise just how exhausting, demoralising, confusing and lonely it can be on occasion. And then she'll remember her standing up there with her free time and free cash, thinking she knew a thing about why mothers talk to each other on the internet Grin
