On www.rightmove.co.uk (or equivalent) which house is the most expensive nearest to where you live within 10 miles?

For us its this one:
www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-34723280.html

Its not bad but the snooker room looks like a WMC snooker room.

Amused that most of the pics are of the view from the property rather than the actual building.

Mandy2003 · 03/10/2011 15:01

I think it's still for sale, probably for less than the £70,000,000 that it was. About 5 miles from my house we have Updown Court, Windlesham

theyoungvisiter · 03/10/2011 16:52

This a fab thread! The hideous £75 million one is within 10 miles of me too, but after that is this one - it's boringly POA but it's listed above another house at £45 million so I think we can safely say they're hoping for more than that.

I think the resounding moral of this thread is: Money can't buy you taste Grin

theyoungvisiter · 03/10/2011 17:04

elinor - you HOOVER your curtains?! Confused

Awomancalledhorse · 03/10/2011 17:09

A tacky house for £6m The artwork in picture 11 is pretty damn shite, the room in 19-21 is lovely..rest of the house is garish! Plus, judging by pic 23 the house comes with cricketers...much rather have llamas.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/10/2011 17:11

I hoover my curtains, occasionally. How else to get the dust off them without taking them down?

The £75 million one (with helicopter) I think every single room is bigger than my entire house Sad. But I don't like the ceilings.

MadameCastafiore · 03/10/2011 17:11

There si one more expensive but you have to be a potato farmer as most of it is fields of potatoes!!

this one is nearest otherwise!

Awomancalledhorse · 03/10/2011 17:15

OMFC MadameCastafiore, that rug in picture 6 is repulsive, looks like a Willy Wonka factory reject!

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 03/10/2011 17:17

I want my own tennis court.

BoffinMum · 03/10/2011 17:19

This one which I do not think is worth that kind of money tbh.

SecretNutellaFix · 03/10/2011 17:20

this is the most expensive one within 10 miles.

£5,850,000

so very many zeroes i don't know what to do.

Do you think you'd be able to get two cars on that drive?

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 03/10/2011 17:32

theyoungvisitor what's more for all that money the Cornwall Terrace property is leasehold as the land in Regents Park is part of the Crown Estate hence the vaguely salmony pinky cream colour that a lot of the CE properties around the Park are painted with.

theyoungvisiter · 03/10/2011 17:35

ooo wow - I rather love MOther Panda's one! I want marble pillars in my hall!!

The £13m Wilmslow one though - words fail me. I hope it's got a bloody big garden!

TalcAndTurnips · 03/10/2011 17:39

Liberace's boudoir; complete with perspex Joanna - thought to be on the market for £3 - 3.5 million. has not just one terrace, but four. 'Tis very shiny and bling - but has spectacular views across the Solent to the Isle of Wight, the harbour, the city.

Not my cup of tea at all - but I'd love to have a nosey just to see how far you could see!

Lexilicious · 03/10/2011 17:40

this £15m monstrosity although I would love a cinema room like that.

BarryStar · 03/10/2011 17:40

www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-30037684.html

I like housey threads. Favourite house on this thread so far is the Grand Designs one.

theyoungvisiter · 03/10/2011 17:46

OMG that £15M one IS monstrous.

Do you think that's a giant flatscreen telly hidden behind the "tapestry" in picture number 8?

TalcAndTurnips · 03/10/2011 17:58

theyoungvisiter - perhaps; or it could be giant telescreen like in Orwell's 1984.

The new buyer, smug with his vulgar purchase, will be sitting there one night; doing a line of charlie on the glass coffee table; when all of a sudden, the tapestry will fall to one side revealing this apparition and a sinister voice booms out; sirens blare etc. etc...

(sorry - I've been at the cheese again)

Lexilicious · 03/10/2011 18:09

heheh, possibly! Or it might be a minstrels' gallery for some strippers.

Actually (now I'm home and not looking at it on my mobile screen) I know exactly what's wrong with it. They've tried a room for every architectural era - look there's a tudor exterior, mediaeval is picture 4, arts and crafts pic 5, then baroque/regency/edwardian (historical knowledge somewhat lacking) in 6 and 8, and the 1980s specifically the bridge of the Star Ship Enterprise is referenced in pic 7.

It's disastrous. Kevin mcC would just die, darling.
