if it goes in the basket inside out it stays inside out.

If a garment goes in the washing basket inside out, it is washed inside out and then ironed, if needed inside out and put away inside out.

I will not waste my time putting everything back the right way.

Everything should be washed inside out anyway as it avoids pilling on the right side.
Also ironed mostly on wrong side to avoid shine and then finished on right side (except shirts which should be ironed on right side).

YANBU. You're not Similarly, if it goes into the washing basket with anything in the pockets, pocket contents will get washed too.

I wash most things like this anyway, but I think this is a really petty thing to take a stand over.

That's the rule in this house.

But op, I would have thought your family were helping by turning things inside out? As previously mentioned, it keeps items looking better for longer.

Not here I iron inside out and put it the right way round before putting away. DD2 irons her own now has cut down washing by a hell of a lot.

I never quite get this 'dont iron thing'.

I loathe it with a passion - but I will not have badly turned out and crumpled children.

I do the same as NannyOgg when my daughter puts school blouses in with sleeves rolled up or buttons still done up. And if two tops are worn together, got enought to do without doing things people are capable of doing themselves!

I also do the buttons/poppers up on duvet covers to save pillow cases going in it during the wash and it being a pain to sort. Last time my daughter didn't do it, I hadn't noticed and washed it but made her sort it out once it had been washed

I got so bloody sick of rolling down shirt sleeves, turning things the right way round (usually trouser leg being the the right way and the other being inside out), unballing socks etc that I now refuse to wash anything that isnt presented as the owner wants it to be washed and ironed.

It took my 14 year old having to wear a dirty (Well, once worn) school shirt before she got the message and H having to wear his old work uniform (now in management so wears his own shirts) before he figured out I meant it!

I iron school shirts. It's a waste of time though as 15 minutes after putting them on they are magically "badly turned out and crumpled" complete with mysterious stains.

I don't need to iron. I hang up well and then fold straight from line. I don't see how it gets creased. I don't even iron my work trousers or shirts. Dh does his own work shirts. I won't buy clothes that look like they need ironing.

What on earth are you doing to your laundry that makes it look badly turned out and crumpled?! I dont iron and you really cant tell. Life is too short to spend it doing a job you loathe that is completely unnecessary!

I know Im slightly mad - I just prefer everyone to leave the house looking like they are well groomed - the fact they come home looking like a they've fought with a hedge is neither here nor there really.

Shirts, sadly, need ironing. As do trousers.

Nobody wears shirts in my house.......

I dont see how the children looked badly turned out everything is washed and ironed to perfection.

I also do the poppers on the duvets covers.

YANBU. I don't turn DH's stuff back the right way out, nor do i check his pockets. If he wants it ironed, he has to do that himself, too!

School trousers if washed and hung straight away do not need ironing.....
