To have no sympathy for the burglar

Another burglar has been stabbed to death when he broke into a businessman's home. His wife and child were returning to the property. The details are very scant at the moment as it is early day.

But the burglars who were stabbed robbing a shop, and an edlerly shopkeeper killed one of them, he was not prosecuted. I think that's right.

It's on R5Live now being debated after another burglar was killed at the weekend.

Personally I think home burglars should take getting stabbed as a occupational hazard. I have no sympathy for them.

"Totally stupid and pointless question Mayorquimby

I believe you should be allowed to use as much force as you feel necessary, including killing them, on anyone who invades your home."

Well then it just highlights what a stupid and pointless statement "i believe he leave his human rights at the door etc."
Far from believing his human rights cease to exist you believe that they continue to operate as they always have done, you're promoting his human rights as they are currently protected by the law.
Stupid statments such as yours often deserve stupid questions.

SindyW if I know mobs, and I think I do, they are nothing if not meticulous in their research. I trust 'em.

Tewkespeggy · 23/09/2011 20:01

not only do i have no sympathy with burglers getting hurt whilst 'working'

I also feel that people who choose to break the law, shouldnt be allowed to use the same law for thier own benefit whilst incarcerated.

call me the hanging judge kidding

mayorquimby, with all due respect you are an irrational loon. Your post makes no sense and kindly do not tell me what I believe;
"...Far from believing his human rights cease to exist you believe that they continue to operate as they always have done, you're promoting his human rights as they are currently protected by the law."

Er...no, I said that you leave your rights at the door if you break in to someone's house.

And by the way, there is no currently no trade in former burglars being sold into the agricultural sector. Although maybe there is on your planet.

mayorquimby · 23/09/2011 21:54

and then when I questioned if that included the human rights not to be subjected to torture, slavery or to be sold to others you said it was a stupid question.
I'm starting to get the impression that you don't really understand either the issue at hand or what you are saying.
two questions:

  1. do you honestly believe they leave their human rights at the door? In which case that would mean it would be acceptable to incapacitate them, torture them and sell them as slaves.
or
  1. do you believe that you can use reasonable force to protect yourself and your possessions against a burglar? This has nothing to do with rights being left at the door, this is the current stance of the law which upholds the human rights of all parties involved, including the burglars.

I think you're mistaking me being a loon with you being slightly thick

mayor you are being deliberately provocative. you are taking a hypothetical situation and bringing it into absurd. nobody is talking about torturing anyone apart from you.

pigletmania · 23/09/2011 23:13

Yes and I will sit on the burglar until the police come, I might even let one off, ooooh better not I might infrindge his oooooman rights Grin

"mayor you are being deliberately provocative. you are taking a hypothetical situation and bringing it into absurd. nobody is talking about torturing anyone apart from you."

A poster said "they give up their human rights at the door etc."
I'm asking if they honestly believe that or if they believe that a person has the right to use reasonable force to protect their home.
As I said they either are using hollow cliches which they haven't thought through or they believe the law, which as it stands allows for reasonable force while simultaneously upholding the rights of the burglar, is correct.
It's people who spout ridiculous crap like "they enter my home they give up their rights" who are being absurd because it patently isn't true.
