Skinny jeans and jumpers, tight trainers, three piece suits...I could go on. Why is this necessary? Surely the priority is for your baby to be comfy, not trussed up like a Christmas turkey. In addition the 'mini adult' thing is creepy is it not?

When my baby wriggled so much I couldn't do babygrow buttons up, he started wearing pyjamas to bed. I see nothing wrong with putting a baby in clothes other than a babygrow as long they are comfy.

Today DD has a stretchy knitted dress and pair of tights on. She's able to crawl, cruise the furniture, sleep, eat, sit etc all very comfortably but if i take her out she'll look dressed and not in her PJ's!

Babies are there to be made fun of! You haven't lived if you haven't dressed your wee one in a novelty Santa outfit for Christmas, an Easter bunny for Easter and anything ridiculous in between.

Personally DD prefers to be nekkid

YABU: aside from everyone's taste differing, I've never really understood why such a fiddly garment as a babygro caught on as it did. Proper nighties and dresses (for noth sexes) are SO much easier,

I don't understand why you care what other people do.

My DD spends so much time kicking, trying to crawl etc. she ends up with both of her legs in one of the babygro legs. This is because she's very long, but thin. Leggings, vest and a jumper or top are comfortable for her and a much better fit.

Nothing 'creepy' about it at all - I find that sentiment quite odd tbh

With my first DD, she had more clothes than me (still does in fact). However when DD2 arrived I knew better and the first few months she wore her 'leisure wear' ie sleepsuits all the time.

To me babygrows are sleep wear, or for new borns. I dress my son in lovely comfy day outfits, then bath him and put him in a baby grow for bed. Personally i think it looks strange to see babys dressed in a baby grow during the day !

i kept my boys in babygrows for months, as it was easy and boys clothes are dull, but dd is 9mths and after four boys i am having a ball dressing her up in little dresses and tights etc, she does wear babygrows sometimes as well, or leggins and tops, but its FUN to dress her up!

I took a friends DD out the other day to a clinic to be weighed for her, the baby is 5 months. She doesn't have any 'clothes' only babygrows, so that's what I took her in. There were about 15 babies there - she was the only one over a month old in a babygrow. I felt like I hadn't bothered to dress her!!

I like soft 'day' clothes for babies over a couple of months and babygrows for bed time. I like the night & day distinction and it's nice to see them in something a bit different.

Having said that - I don't care what anyone else does. I know some MNers keep theirs in babygrows day & night until they're 1 - no reason why not is there?

There are loads of comfy baby clothes that are not babygros!

What age are we talking? Past 3 mo dd wore a lot of jersey tops and leggings, mega comfy. She is over a year now and still similar, am going to get her some jeans though now she is walking.

When my DD was tiny I always got her dressed in 'proper clothes' for daytime and babygro's were basically pyjamas. She certainly wasn't 'trussed up' though .

I must admit when I see babies in babygro's now (DD had just turned 7), I do think 'ahh' and wish she'd worn them a bit more though .

I think you're talking crap actually. My children have always had "outfits" in the day but comfortable ones.

Wearing only babygro's is not needed when you choose clothing well.

Okay. Points taken. My nephew is quite, erm, chubby (and very cute) but he is always in jeans so tight they look like they may cut off blood supply. It makes me feel uneasy and want to free him. We already have Christmas pud outfit for DS though.

ohnoredundo, my boys were also very chubby and couldnt wear trousers or jeans without the waist band looking like it woudl cut them in two! so they wore dungarees instead, problem solved, when it was cold i often just stuck them on over the top of a babygrow, solved the problem of them pulling their socks off!

its not hard to buy babyclothes that are soft and comfortable if you look around, i dont like babies dressed up to look like mini adults iykwim? but there are plenty of cute and funky soft baby clothes that you can buy :)
