to not understand why people dress babies in anything other than babygrows.

Skinny jeans and jumpers, tight trainers, three piece suits...I could go on. Why is this necessary? Surely the priority is for your baby to be comfy, not trussed up like a Christmas turkey. In addition the 'mini adult' thing is creepy is it not?

Babies look lovely in babygros, all cuddly and new.

But I hate the bloody things with all those sodding poppers. If they do a leaky poo or wee you have to change the whole thing because its spreads everwhere.

PJs type things are much better and easier IMO.

A little tipette though - before you put your babygros away after washing do the leg poppers up. Then you can simply slot your wriggly baby into said babygro with minimum fuss.

Neither DD would wear a snow suit. So warmer trousers or a dungarees, vest jumper and jacket was the order of the day, with socks and little lace up boots.
Jacket and thin baby grow legs were not warm enough when the cosy toes was kicked off, socks without shoes were removed and chewed.

whackamole · 17/09/2011 21:37

I dressed my boys when they were very little. Not in skinny jeans or anything similar - mainly in dungarees because they are very cute!

I will probably not bother with this next one though.

My babies have been my little dollies! Grin

ThatllDoPig · 17/09/2011 21:43

My ds is nearly seven months. We quite often have 'babygro days' when he is just comfy cosy, babygro'd up all day. I just put on an extra top if we got out. You can't beat a babygro.

YouWinOrYouDie · 17/09/2011 21:45

DS was in all-in-ones; vests, short-sleeved, then full-length, then fleecy with blankets, until he was nearly a year old Blush

I was probably projecting because I would like to wear non-waisted clothes. I couldn't bear for DD to be in tights either. I fucking detest them myself and bloody well would not want to take a nap in jeans or a skirt so babygros it was.

Snow-suits look super-cute but are a bit impractical for everyday. I live in a town which has a huge shopping mall and the number of screaming, red-faced overheating babies all bundled up in them when you can tell that they've been in the central heating for hours by the number of bags on the pushchair while a lightly-jacketed woman is pushing them around oblivious...

Mrs DeVere - great tip Smile

Why does it matter what a parent chooses to clothe a baby in? I just put DS in whatever people gave me or whatever I could afford on a limited budget.

Babygrows are £1 each at Primarni...just saying.

Youwin - oh I so agree with you re. snowsuits. This summer my friend's baby was in vest, babygrow, cardi, blanket and hat INDOORS! I didn't dare say anything though.

And they probably last for 2 washes if your lucky!!

I still dont see why, as long as they are dressed suitably for the weather, it matters what a child is wearing. DS is a November baby so layers/thicker trousers made much more sense when he was little!

Ohnoredundo · 17/09/2011 21:58

Yes. In hindsight the thread should have been that babies should be in comfy clothes, not tight and restrictive for their parent's benefit.
