ok NOT an aibu, but this is where it will be seen the most and it NEEDS awareness.

quite frankly, i along with others am appalled at the comments that are being made and left to stand, toward the SN community, they are downright offensive and quite simply appalling.

i am sure (or hope) that the majority on here do NOT agree with them but yet the SN community on mn are not being supported, whether this is because people do not know what to say, or they havent seen these posts i do not know?

BUT IT IS ABOUT TIME THAT THINGS CHANGED, so this a thread where you can stand up and be counted and say that you do not agree with the disregard, blatant trolling and offensive behaviour towards our lovely mn who have or are dealing with sn in their family.

they need this place for support, not the vile behaviour that they are getting.

so please post here and show your support and help make a change for the better.

Do the posters who complain about SN posters realise that they make LOADS of posts that dont mention SN at all?

I know I do. I am always banging on about something or other without bringing my child with SN into it.

We all do.

But when we DO leapt to someone's defence or challenge an ignorant assumption we are suddenly the SN Mafia.

I dont know how many regulars even know I have a child with multiple SNs. And I post a LOT too much

Peachy, I think it's more a case of whenever some kind of anti-SN thread starts up, many of the parents of children with SN do come on to put the record straight or stand up for themselves, or whatever needs doing. And there are others who have disabilities or SN themselves, who join in too - and then there are the others who have no direct experience but can't stand to see that sort of attitude/ignorance go unchallenged. Lots of people challenging prejudiced crap making the prejudicial crapper think there that "most people on MN have a kid with SN" - no, just most people on your vile crappy thread, person of extreme ignorance!

I have honestly never seen offensive comments in relation to anything go unchallenged - it is one of the things that I like most about MN. I think self moderation is good and that in the main posts (unless illegal) should stand - they provide a very useful barrometer of who to avoid if nothing else.

Having said that I don't go on the SN boards and if people are going on their to actively distress posters as opposed to simply having an unpaletable opinion then that is another matter entirely.

I hate it when it's implied by some arrogant posters that other posters' views are compromised by being in receipt of a benefit [related to SN].

I've just had a look at the benefits thread started by Glitterknickers and have read it all the way through and I can only see offensive posts by Maypole, LadyOfTheManor and someone I had never heard of before kidsrfrenzy or something like that.

Well, obviously, all their posts are just ludicrous. But surely this is only what is to be expected from Maypole and LOTM. They are trolls in the sense that they post to be deliberately inflammatory and provocative. I have never seen either of them say anything remotely worthwhile. And I am sure lotm used to have a profile on which she said she was a Christian! R O F F L E.

Their views might be offensive to some, but please please please don't be offended by them. Simply write them off as fraeks and do not engage. Mnhq must have left them to stand, on that thread anyway, for a reason.

And in a thread about ADHD and treatment. And about dla in a wohm/sahm thread. And your Childs bus gets shouted at. And people start muttering about you in a queue in a cafe.
