AIBU to feel sorry for the people who spend half their lives on mumsnet?

I lurk a bit at work ( prenteding to be busy, saves me making the tea ) and have started the odd thread here and there seeking advice, BuT my god I feel sorry for the posters who are on here day in day out for hours.
I know some people are socially isolated and I'm sure they get a lot from mumsnet, but it is rather sad when it becomes your main source of adult interaction, and by choice for many I imagin. I know mumsnet has one million members, but it's always the same names coming up in active conversations. These forums should be a place where you drop into now and then, not somewhere you rely on for friendship.

AIBU ?

at " I'd rather be popular in real life (which I am)..."

Empathy. Modesty. Is there no end?

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoCunt · 09/09/2011 13:14

I've always wanted a stalker. See OP? MN has now completed my life's ambition and you thought I was wasting my time. Tut.

SpringHeeledJack · 09/09/2011 13:14

if I knew people as funny in RL as people tend to be on here, I wouldn't bother with here at all

but I don't, alas

I can't remember the last time I cried laughing at something that wasn't on a screen.

AuntieMonica · 09/09/2011 13:15

hey Gilbonzo, i've got one too, you know

and the OP has been spying on me

SpringHeeledJack · 09/09/2011 13:16

I am really popular in RL, btw

and lots of people have just pm'd me to say they agree with everything I've just said

some of them are mn royalty, so it's a win-win for me

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 09/09/2011 13:16

C'mon, there's enough of PsychoDuckCunt to go round.....

NeverKnowinglyUnderDoug · 09/09/2011 13:19

She's mine you Slaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaag!

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoCunt · 09/09/2011 13:20

I'm a big fat cunt so there's plenty to go around.

Why am I still here??? Fuck, maybe the OP's right........

HandsOffOurLand · 09/09/2011 13:20

"I like that there are people here who I can "talk" to who can actually form proper sentences and who aren't obsessed with coco pops. "

How odd only to meet people who talk about coco pops in RL.

Hey ho. No wonder MN seems appealing. Hmm

Destinationzero, I laughed at the nose-picking thing. I sometimes think that MN royalty is probably a load of beery blokes with beards taking the mickey out of sad women.

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoCunt · 09/09/2011 13:22

Oh fuck. Hands has caught me out.

SuePurblybilt · 09/09/2011 13:25

Has anyone ever seen any poster assumed to be MN Royalty banging on about it? Or boasting? Or having a big fat Royalty quiche with locks on?

No. The only people I ever see going on about Royalty are on threads like these, usually with a good dollop of bitterness on top. Sneeriness is bad for the wrinkles you know.....

AuntieMonica · 09/09/2011 13:25

i haven't got a beard either

blackeyedsusan · 09/09/2011 13:25

so?

NeverKnowinglyUnderDoug · 09/09/2011 13:26
Honeydragon · 09/09/2011 13:26

Oooooh another OP demanding validation for how I spend my time Grin

I'd tell you, but then I'd have to get Hully to kill you

OhdearNigel · 09/09/2011 13:27

Who is Mumsnet Royalty then ?
Who is the Queen of Mumsnetland ? And who is her Duke of Edinburgh ?

tethersend · 09/09/2011 13:28

Hands, that gets right on my tits.

michelleseashell · 09/09/2011 13:29

Oh yeah? I'm a breastfeeder so pop that in your pipe and chug yourself a smoke sandwich.

MotherPanda · 09/09/2011 13:29

I'd love to be QueenPanda, but I'd settle for Duchess.

HamsterzBollox · 09/09/2011 13:30

I'm with you OP!

I have just signed in to see if the thread I started yesterday about MNers making me feel queasy in AIBU had petered out - and was really Shock to see the thread was full because it had 1000+ posts - most of them, I would imagine, consisting of MNers 'virtually' giggling their in-jokes to each other.

I do (seriously) think it's sad that if they all think they're so hilarious, they can't find some RL friends to talk to for hours on end. As a case in point, some of them were on the thread from when it started mid-morning to after ten last night Confused

Anyway, that's all I wanted to say - toodle-oo!

AuntieMonica · 09/09/2011 13:33

Hamsterz

you do realise some people do move away from the computer and then come back to it, don't you? they aren't glued down

NeverKnowinglyUnderDoug · 09/09/2011 13:33

PMPL

That has to be one of my favourite xposts ever saycool and michelleseashell
