AIBU to feel sorry for the people who spend half their lives on mumsnet?

I lurk a bit at work ( prenteding to be busy, saves me making the tea ) and have started the odd thread here and there seeking advice, BuT my god I feel sorry for the posters who are on here day in day out for hours.
I know some people are socially isolated and I'm sure they get a lot from mumsnet, but it is rather sad when it becomes your main source of adult interaction, and by choice for many I imagin. I know mumsnet has one million members, but it's always the same names coming up in active conversations. These forums should be a place where you drop into now and then, not somewhere you rely on for friendship.

AIBU ?

For me, MN is the new village pump. It helps me stay in touch with womankind and therefore sane whilst struggling in a comparatively male-dominated professional environment. Love it.

Pagwatch · 09/09/2011 12:49

Hello Sue
I wanted to tell you yesterday that I love you but it was on another dull as fuck 'why won't you lot stop enjoying yourself and be miserable like me' thread so it seemed inappropriate

But I do.

Hullygully · 09/09/2011 12:49

I've got to go out into rl right now

Hullygully · 09/09/2011 12:50

Not as much as me tho, eh Paggy?

Skippyboo · 09/09/2011 12:50

If it wasn't for reading the witticisms of the "regulars" my day wouldn't be half as amusing as it is and I'd be left with just the snidey, judgey, arsey threads like... well... like this one Hmm

I DEMAND that internet doesn't break!

AuntieMonica · 09/09/2011 12:50

actually, i've got a new crush now

on YOU, OP

none of the rest of this set of rabble and unfunny gutterminded cunts care as much about me as you do...

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 09/09/2011 12:51

Oh FGS. Whaddya say, Sjue? (In-joke, nudge nudge, you know what I mean....)

I'm not going to justify my time on here. It HAS been a lifeline for me. How dare you come on here and feel superior?

Oh I'm just not even going to bother. You're not worth it.

Pagwatch · 09/09/2011 12:51

Can I have a cardboard box too. But not a cat.

NeverKnowinglyUnderDoug · 09/09/2011 12:52

You've been my secret crush for years AuntieMonica.

Don't you go running off.

SeniorWrangler · 09/09/2011 12:52

When I am not working FT, I bring up four kids, do two blogs, read novels and play the piano to concert pianist standard (really, I do). I still find time to be on dozens of threads at once, and enjoy it. When I go on holiday I don't bother with it but enjoy catching up on my return. I suppose what I don't do is watch hours and hours of TV - I prefer interacting with people instead, albeit online.

Scheherezade · 09/09/2011 12:52

I'm on maternity leave. I live in the very-much-countryside. During the day I lurk on here, make tea, avoid cleaning as much as possible and then on the evenings I go see to the horses. Weekends are for seeing friends, going to football, mini holidaying and lots of little daytrips out with DP.

I live an absolute life of bliss, but if you want to pity me, you can send a weekly cheque if you like, so I an then buy another horse Grin

Claw3 · 09/09/2011 12:52

I spend a lot of time on my laptop preparing documents for my ds who is disabled, trying to get him the right help in school, writing letters, appeals, tribunals etc, etc. I often post on the SN section seeking help and support, i even sometimes venture out onto the other threads, such as this one for a bit of relief.

I dont have many RL friends or interactions, because of this. Yes it is rather sad, but short of having my son adopted, there isnt much i can i do about it.

Oh and i also do lots and lots of reading, about my son's condition, tribunal papers, reports etc, etc.

I am really sad and spend all my day on mumsnet and I definately need to get a life. I'm autistic and physically disabled, I am rarely able to leave my house, live in the arse end of nowhere, don't work and am home alone until 8.00pm at the earliest every day. What do you suggest I do?

Pagwatch · 09/09/2011 12:53

Of course not as much as you Hully.

We could move into a box together. It would be wonderful

BFF

DreamsOfSteam · 09/09/2011 12:53

Gosh, it must be so nice for you with so many other friends and things to fill your day with!

WhatABleedinPalaver · 09/09/2011 12:53

Most people have iphones or androids don't they so they are probably MNing while working, which they can do even if they're out-and-about.

SuePurblybilt · 09/09/2011 12:53

HAH Hully, vous can bites me. La bas She loves me much, much more.

I luffs you Paggy. I luffs you all. I rejoice in posting love on these threads. Fuck 'em if they can't take a love-in.

SuePurblybilt · 09/09/2011 12:54

SuePurblybilt · 09/09/2011 12:55

Saywolef, it may be time. Only you can tell, you are the chosen one.
Or something.

Ormirian · 09/09/2011 12:55

YANBU! Only 50%? What are they doing for the other 50%?

Proudnscary · 09/09/2011 12:55

Ha ha @ fantastically provocative OP! And for pretending to feel 'sad' for them!!

Most people who are on here a lot are popping in and out and getting on with life.

Some clearly spend tons of time on here - hours and hours.

Always amazes me when these pepes dish out advice.

I always think 'what do you know about living in the real world? you are on planet MN'
