To think that my house purchaser is a ....

full on mentalist?

There are so many things to tell you I need to drip feed them. First, I warned her that as it is a very old house there are bats in the attic, as there are in most old country houses. You never see them, except outside, at dusk. You never hear them. But they are there, and they are protected. She asked if she could come and stand in my loft with a torch to see if any of them swooped around her, because she couldn't cope if they did, and she was worried they might escape into the house.

Then there were the gyspies that we don't have. Our house is surrounded by privately owned (not by us) land. She started to worry that our next door neighbour who owns the land might allow gypsies onto it. Hmm I said that the very reason he bought the land around his house (some from the farmer and some from the church) is to make sure that gypsies wouldn't go on it at any point in the future. Keeping some control, see? I have never seen a gypsy within ten miles of here. But still she fretted. And fretted.

And there is more......

does this batty woman not realise that you could technically move out and take her new fridge with you? estate agent told me once that the couple who owned a house we were interested in arranged for washing machine, fridge and dishwasher to be delivered to the house 3 days before moving/completion date. money changed hands, and they got their keys only to find the buggers they bought the house off had disappeared with all their gear. since there was no way to prove ownership (the couple hadn't recorded serial numbers of their new stuff) and the house sellers didn't leave any forwarding info, they lost everything

Fuzzywuzzywozabear · 09/09/2011 15:06

Blimey Ipswichwitch that's shocking!

SarahStratton · 09/09/2011 17:09

It's gone 5. I'm dying to know what's happened.

nocake · 09/09/2011 17:09

It's not shocking. It's hilarious Grin If you're stupid enough to have stuff delivered to a house before you own it then you deserve to lose it.

Al0uiseG · 09/09/2011 17:21

I've texted her, no reply as yet. She's probably banged up in the local nick after assaulting the mentalist :o

HerHissyness · 09/09/2011 17:48

Do not let this woman encroach any more on the house until the money etc has been transferred and the sale is completed.

HerHissyness · 09/09/2011 17:48

You're a great MNer Al0ise! We'll look forward to the update!

plumtart · 09/09/2011 21:28

ooohhh, come on, I stayed up late watching this thread last night

SpaghettiTwirlerAndProud · 09/09/2011 22:11

Crikey what a batty woman! Any news yet? Can't wait to hear what (if anything) happened!

FellatioNelson · 09/09/2011 22:36

Hello! did get your text ALG but it came at a stressful moment and I didn't get a chance to reply - it's been a really hectic day. Well, it has taken me until 10.20pm but I have internet - had to rummage around in boxes to find my router, but at least the BT operative turned up.

I dropped the keys into the agent at about 6 last night and told them on no account were they to give her my mobile number or a forwarding address. I told the sales progresser my tale of woe and she was absolutely speechless and very apologetic, though not her fault really, I should have let them know earlier, but once the buyer has exchanged and has your landline number and you have struck up a friendship of sorts, it seems churlish to refuse to deal with them direct. I have learnt my lesson though. No more Mrs Nice Guy for future house sales.

Anyway, luckliy, as most of the van loading was done on Thursday, this morning was relatively quick and easy, and we were away by about 11am, so I could just lock up the house and go before she arrived. Not sure what happened about the sofas!

One last thing though - bonkers lady did do a drive-by past my house at 9.30am this morning. Hmm I saw her from my kitchen window. I think she was hoping I may have finished up and gone yesterday, so she could get in using the hidden key I'd told her about. But I craftily removed it to thwart her. Ha!

Haha. Glad your move went well.

HairyBeaver · 09/09/2011 22:42

That was quick fellatio! I thought you were moving abroad?! Very Envy you've managed to get sorted so quick!

I have am image of bonkers lady's new kitchen looking like kath kidson (or whatever it's bloody called) has puked in it Grin

Al0uiseG · 09/09/2011 22:46

Yay - you're probably asleep by now but congrats anyway, unscathed by the killer moving bitch from hell. If I ever meet her in rl she's ruined, I'll introduce her to the local crack whore and really give her something to obsess about!

Sleep tight x

SarahStratton · 09/09/2011 22:50

Yay, thanks for the update. Alouise did you live near Fell, if so can we have updates on crazy moving lady's doings please?

Very Envy of you moving abroad btw.

FellatioNelson · 09/09/2011 22:52

I am going to sleep in a minute - knackered. I am moving abroad in about a month HB, but today I have moved temporarily into a much smaller house which we have bought to rent out, and I am using the garage and loft to store stuff we don't need while abroad.

ALG, her girls have just started at that private girl's school just down the road from you Wink so you might soon be knowing some people in common. Hope you don't bump into to her on the dinner party circuit!

Al0uiseG · 09/09/2011 22:57

Well, we did live near each other but "near" in these parts tends to mean a 20 minute drive in a 4x4 with speshul water navigating abilities. However, I have no problem with taking a slow drive past once a week with a long lens to update you all on the situation.

Jacaqueen · 09/09/2011 22:59

Thanks for the update.

I'm really happy it all went well in the end, but can't help feeling a little disappointed, that she didn't turn up at the crack of dawn with a film crew in tow along and some Laurence Llewelyn character to film Channel 5's new hit show, 'Housemove Disaster'.

Al0uiseG · 09/09/2011 23:00

The parents at the girls school have already been, shall we say, enlightened. Wink
