They deleted what I considered a valid thread because a few people failed to understand the point of it and chose to overreact and get offended instead. Perhaps I should try and remove any thread I disagree with? How do I go about doing that?

OP posts:

After too much beer of a saturday night I'm usually hoping no one remembers dp is with me, nevermind holds his opinions against me

Mrsperkytits · 06/09/2011 23:37

You must be so proud, wish my DH posted utter shite for all to see

LineRunner · 06/09/2011 23:38

So BeyondTheLimitsOfAccepability is married to RobotLollyPopMan.

They are both MNetters.

The man one thinks that we are man haters, and the woman one doesn't want to get involved but does.

Gee, ain't life just swell. Smile

AryaStark · 06/09/2011 23:39

I have had my cigarette and am now completely confused.

Just tell me, do I need to name-change again for being a twat or not? I can't tell what the comments referencing me mean, sorry.

Or you could just ignore me and carry on fighting the good fight which will be just fine.

mothiman · 06/09/2011 23:40

don't name change on my account. i like your honesty. but please be aware - people's lives are broken as a result of child abuse. it's not a case of being able to hide that thread. once you've seen it, you've seen it and it's in your head. one thing i do think is that people get through traumatic events more easily if they're treated with respect. what's a laugh for some is not for others. whilst I'm a firm believer in free speech, to me this went beyond the boundaries.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 06/09/2011 23:41

I didnt see the original thread before he posted it (not being the same person and all), only after, and no, it didnt occur to me then that people would find it offensive. Sorry but it just didnt, theres nothing I can do about it now. And a lot of the people on the thread didnt say they found it offensive, they discussed his point. Yes looking back now it was overly emotive for someone who has gone through that, but thats hindsight for you. Not that DH will admit that...

scuzy · 06/09/2011 23:41

in a nut shell mothiman that was perfect. well said. now am off to bed.

AryaStark · 06/09/2011 23:42

WTF? Was that to me? And I've been called random?

AnyFucker · 06/09/2011 23:42

Oh, the atmosphere will be frosty chez lollypop this evening Grin

To be fair, I wouldn't hold the posts of one fully grown adult against another one

I presume she has to let him off the choke chain leash occasionally and can't be expected to police his internet use in a constant fashion Smile

mothiman · 06/09/2011 23:43

no arya read back a bit. relax

scuzy · 06/09/2011 23:43

pity some consideration and empathy didnt come before the hind sight. you dont have to got through certain traumatic times to have those for someone!!

Northernlurkerr · 06/09/2011 23:43

Heaven preserve me from ever being fool enough to defend dh when/if he is a twat.

LineRunner · 06/09/2011 23:43

No-one ever goes off to bed.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 06/09/2011 23:43

Anyway, as he said, we do have to go to bed now.

BeyondTheLimitsOfAcceptability · 06/09/2011 23:44

Goodnight.

Crosshair · 06/09/2011 23:45

Shock at this and the previous thread.

scuzy · 06/09/2011 23:45

so true linerunner Smile

laters

reelingintheyears · 06/09/2011 23:45

.

DUH

LineRunner · 06/09/2011 23:46

His 'point' was a foolish misunderstanding of a decontextualised construct aka a 'Greek' 'word'.

AryaStark · 06/09/2011 23:46

Unfortunate x-post, thank you

'Night all

AnyFucker · 06/09/2011 23:46

arya, who are you having a conversation with ? Grin

people think you are mildly amusing (in a good way) the way you keep popping up with random funny stuff..it's nothing to get your knickers in a knot about

I do it too, but people mainly ignore me 'cos they see me do it all the time (and I'm not very funny)

garlicnutter · 06/09/2011 23:46

The point of OP's other thread is still eluding me Confused

The word paedophilia is made out of two Greek words.
Some people don't know this.
News Of The World [RIP] readers get words beginning with 'paed' mixed up.

Nope. Still don't get it. Must enrol on Rocket Science For Classicists.

tethersend · 06/09/2011 23:46

Oh, the thread was deleted?

That's a shame. Now fewer people will bask in my genius.

AnyFucker · 06/09/2011 23:47

and another cross post arya

this could go on all night Grin

garlicnutter · 06/09/2011 23:47

Or make some hot chocolate (better idea, I'm sure)
