They deleted what I considered a valid thread because a few people failed to understand the point of it and chose to overreact and get offended instead. Perhaps I should try and remove any thread I disagree with? How do I go about doing that?

FFS "mong" is never acceptable, what a stupid thing to say

MissVerinder · 06/09/2011 23:02

Just waiting for the gurgling sound when someone pulls the plug on this bilge.

Also agree with AF

MmeLindor. · 06/09/2011 23:02

Well, maybe you should go and ponder this conundrum elsewhere, and not on a parenting website.

TwatsNet.com is a welcoming website, I hear.

AnyFucker · 06/09/2011 23:02

I always think "toe" is a really funny word

Say it enough times and it gets very silly...

LRDTheFeministDragon · 06/09/2011 23:03

My brother had a teacher who delighted in insisting, pedantically, 'but I'm a paedophile - I love children - I'm just not a pederast'. I might find this a whole lot funnier if the same school that tolerated his crass pedantry had not also housed two genuine paedophiles, one of whom is now behind bars. I can't help feeling that people who're able to make pedantic jokes about child abuse may also be those who turn a blind eye to it in reality.

reelingintheyears · 06/09/2011 23:03

You are a fool OP.

AryaStark · 06/09/2011 23:04

Where are you from, OP?

It is clear that the MN collective have out-acedemia-ed Grin you and destroyed your silly excuse for a discussion topic.

So why bother coming back?

Genuinely curious.

robotlollypopman · 06/09/2011 23:05

2shoes - I never said 'mong' was acceptable. But listen carefully next time you're out.

OP posts:
TheRhubarb · 06/09/2011 23:05

If you started a discussion about the context of words and that word was mentioned in the discussion I might have more sympathy. But you thought it ok to include it in your thread title?

Yes language is an interesting subject, but so are emotions and you cannot possibly think that such a discussion is more important than the raw emotions of those who have been abused and might find it distasteful and upsetting.

Why am I even engaging on this topic with you?

AnyFucker · 06/09/2011 23:05

Why is Mumsnet so full of people who clearly hate everything about it at the moment ? Hmm

AnyFucker · 06/09/2011 23:05

totally agree with rhubarb

pinkyp · 06/09/2011 23:06

I think you could of used a million other words to give as examples. Op must of wanted drama / a reaction regardless of other people's feelings.

Notchattingnow · 06/09/2011 23:06

yep sounds like the facebook megatwat

please delete this MNHQ

wildhairrunning · 06/09/2011 23:06

The most idiotic, mornonic 'debate' - so so stupid

Go away!

NormaStanleyFletcher · 06/09/2011 23:07

Banister is also very silly if said repeatedly.

Sounds like a v v ill judged topic given audience

robotlollypopman · 06/09/2011 23:07

I'm not a Facebook megatwat?

OP posts:
WoofToYouTooLady · 06/09/2011 23:07

AF I am pointing to nearly full moon up there

TheRhubarb · 06/09/2011 23:07

But not content with presumably being told how upsetting your original thread was and having it deleted, you feel the need to start another thread all about YOUR feelings and how hurt YOU are?

Seriously?

Have a think about that eh?

AnyFucker · 06/09/2011 23:07

arya...I was going to ask the OP if he/she was an academic

I have met these kind of pedantic gobshites who think they have the high ground on intelligence

but I thought that might be offensive to any genuine academics on here Smile

reelingintheyears · 06/09/2011 23:08

Yeah...the meanings of words do change.

Cunt once meant a woman's vagina.

Then it meant 'a despicable person'.

Now we have reclaimed the word and it means......BOTH.

wildhairrunning · 06/09/2011 23:08

Moronic

Agree with those who are calling for a ban...

There are a subset of weird, scabrous, persistent denizens of the internet who get an enormous thrill out of provoking, disrupting and derailing forums. They're often limpet like and rarely go away of their own accord. The technique of the moment is to be as upsetting as possible and then try and dominate all discourse by howling in outrage at their perceived mistreatment. They often don't like women very much at all.

Is there a word for them yet?

Sookeh · 06/09/2011 23:09

Ooh, get you being all "controversial"

You could have used another example, you chose one you knew would offend.

AnyFucker · 06/09/2011 23:09

a full moon you say ?

ah

that could explain a few things Grin
