AIBU to intensely dislike the word "cum" for orgasm?

I don't know why but just reading the word in that spelling makes me actually shudder!

Why isn't it just spelled properly? I don't even get bothered by the "c*" word that makes some people gasp in horror, but this teensy 3 letter word makes my eyeballs want to melt.

Surely there must be an alternative?

It means sperm doesn't it?
Or it did in my yoof

cjbartlett · 06/09/2011 06:36

But yabu for using it in a thread title at 6.30am. I nearly lost my breakfast :/

msshapelybottom · 06/09/2011 06:37

Really? Christ, it has multiple meanings!

Women say it too though don't they?

I still hate it!

sorry about that. YABU for having breakfast this early Grin

Totally agree Msshapelybottom. Awful word, awful spelling for it. I dislike the use of the word "head" too for that other bit (cough, cough) down below -use that in the wrong circumstances and you have a real comedy of errors:o

kayb123 · 06/09/2011 07:05

hate it in terms of using for a woman.

SlinkingOutsideInSocks · 06/09/2011 07:07

Grim word.

YANBU.

I can't stand it

TheMagnificentBathykolpian · 06/09/2011 07:29

I hate it too. Makes me cringe. It's just nasty.

Whatmeworry · 06/09/2011 07:33

So a better word would be......?

pinkytheshrinky · 06/09/2011 07:35

yes very cringey I hate it too

msshapelybottom · 06/09/2011 07:37

whatmeworry, it's not the word for me, it's the spelling.

In my head it's spelled "come" but cum just makes me feel like having a wash!

Well - [baffled] what's wrong with the word 'orgasm'? It's a perfectly fine word and doesn't have cringy 1970s porn feel about it. Grin

RoxyRobin · 06/09/2011 07:56

YANBU. It's yukky and makes me squirm. It was an americanism when I was young, but seems to be well-entrenched here now. Also, it was a term used almost entirely by men, which made me automatically suspicious of it, so I'm a bit uncomfortable about women using it.

SuePurblybilt · 06/09/2011 07:59

Hate it, in fact I wanted to post this after the orgasm thread but couldn't be arsed. So thank you Grin

It's nasty. 'come' is OK, 'orgasm' is fine. Spunk or whatever slang word for the man's contribution - none of it worries me. But I hate the spelling 'cum', it makes me feel sleazy and a bit thick just to read it.

misty0 · 06/09/2011 08:00

Yes! Yes! Yes!

I agree Grin

Orgasm is so clinical though. 'cum' is awful. In my mind the word 'come' is to ejaculate for a bloke. Why cant we have our own word?

What could it be?

Whatmeworry · 06/09/2011 08:05

Nix Orgasm....One inserts a penis into a vagina until orgasm and ejaculation occur.

Cock, cunt, come and cum are attractively alliterative.....

RoxyRobin · 06/09/2011 08:06

Melt?

PfftTheMagicDraco · 06/09/2011 08:13

Well, it is vile. But "cum" is ejaculate. "Come" is orgasm.

Butterfly75 · 06/09/2011 08:30

i really hate it when i get text messages from people i support at work asking what time i'm cumming round or can i cum round a bit later. it gives me the shivers.
