I do play in a duo with DP, but so far we've not been brave enough (or able to agree on a set list) to perform properly in public (only in front of friends/family)

Actually that is a good idea.
What we could also do from time to time is to swop band members about from time to time and call that union a 'supergroup' like some of the rock groups do such as Black Country Communion, Chicken Foot, Hindu Love Gods and the like!
