Right lets be reasonable about this
Some people - but a small minority - have medical conditions which affect their weight.
Most do not.
You lose weight by reducing calorie intake and increasing movement - thats simple. So to lose weight IN ITSELF is easy.
The big problem I think is the food we are being sold. Ive been doing a very specific diet and weights programme and walking round the supermarket its really made me look at whats on the shelf. Its actually AWFUL how much crap is projected at us and its far too easy to throw in low value foods. Then they dont keep you full, so you eat more, because its simple carbs which you digest fast.
Im also constantly horrified by how little a lot of people really know about food and how it works. And I was one of them until a few years ago. As Ive said before, DH is training to be a personal trainer and very interested in this stuff.
And yes we do eat rubbish, but in moderation.
I think we are fighting an uphill battle against marketing, free availability of poor food choices, people using cars etc and walking less, increasing costs of gym membership, a society which presents a "perfect" body image so far removed from reality most people give up, and our western civilisation which has taught us since rationing ended that food is our friend.
Im going to sit inthe corner now with my riot shield up and see if anyone agrees.
