'All right love..'

cornsilx · 23/08/2011 13:55

don't know whether to put this here but it's bugging me. People who use 'love' to refer to women when they disagree with them. 'All right love...' kind of thing. Usually men but sometimes women do this as well.

AnyFucker · 24/08/2011 00:06

< tumbleweed >

shit Grin

crazynanna · 24/08/2011 00:14

I hate being called 'dear'...or 'hun'

Honeydragon · 24/08/2011 00:27

AF dh was a feathery stroker, well meaning people telling you that open and sensitive communication are the key to resolving this are liars.

I eventually found the best way to resolve it were wondering off to make a cup of tea or opening a conversation about the following weeks premiereship fixtures were much more effective. It was a win win situation either he put the correct effort into getting me back into bed or shutting me up, happy times or he didn't and I got a cuppa or interesting conversation Grin

He was worth the effort.

AnyFucker · 24/08/2011 00:31

hd Grin

I dumped my feathery stroker, but he was a bit shit in other ways than in the sack

so it was a win/win situation for me

pissedrightoff · 24/08/2011 00:35

Oh dear. I use love all the time.
But I don't think I use it in that slightly sarcastic way, I do know what you mean.

Honeydragon · 24/08/2011 00:45

AF normally I would have been the same, but theirs something snout dh and until I can damn well figure out what it is I can't bring myself to get rid Grin

Dh does darling whether addressing girls, boys, womens, dogs and big hairy blokes

Honeydragon · 24/08/2011 00:46

Snout?
About

I need to fix the keyboard on my phone this is getting embarrassing.

AnyFucker · 24/08/2011 00:47

Hd, I am sure your dh has other great qualities and can be trained out of his feathery stroking

my guy was a bollock brain as well

Honeydragon · 24/08/2011 00:52

Dammit when they can't shag and they can't think they have to go

TheFrogs · 24/08/2011 00:52

Honey i've just realised I dont really have an affectionate term for anyone!...I have a Northern friend and mostly call him a twat...he says its the norm there Grin

Honeydragon · 24/08/2011 00:56

Ooooh you need one immediately. You've got loads to choose from on the thread.

TheFrogs · 24/08/2011 01:04

"hun"? no maybe not...."chick...spelt chic".

"dude"?

stripeybump · 24/08/2011 01:04

I need to know about the sexist monkfish Confused

Honeydragon · 24/08/2011 01:06

Dude could work, ease yourself in gently.

TheFrogs · 24/08/2011 01:08

probably less ofensive than "twat" Grin

TheFrogs · 24/08/2011 01:09

I may learn to spell too

crazynanna · 24/08/2011 01:09

I call people 'Treacle' quite a lot.

AnyFucker · 24/08/2011 07:29

I quite like "sunshine" sometimes

MrsBradleyCooper · 24/08/2011 08:11

TBF DH is a bit of a feathery striker at times. And I'd never quite been able to describe the feeling it gave me, but "setting ones teeth on edge" has just nailed it.

He often has his hand slapped away Grin

Poor guy.

MrsBradleyCooper · 24/08/2011 08:13

Yes that's right DH is a feathery striker.

He is a very timid and gentle goal scorer.

MittzyTheVixen · 24/08/2011 08:27

Ah yes, I have indeed known feathery stroking, whilst wanting to be taken in a rough and lewd manner Grin.. ta for putting me straight on that!

I use petal and flower, but very selectively, and I call most of DS and DD's friends sunshine when I can't remember their names.

I am afraid it affects me selectively depending on who is calling me what!

I also hate glib compliments. But that's another story...

Gonzo33 · 24/08/2011 08:29

I hate being called "love" by someone I don't know. My guilty secret is that I call people "mate" when I can't remember their name!

Bonsoir · 24/08/2011 08:39

"Love" is a dreadful, patronising term.

cornsilx · 24/08/2011 10:50

Bonsoir what is the Parisian equivalent of cocker or wee hen?
