To ask what you would buy four month old DC with £100

A lovely aunty has said we can pick something - anything - to buy our gorgeous son up to the value of £100. We have all the basics so I suppose really it's ideas for a lovely extra for him. Any advice appreciated!

Save it for sure, in his own account. Or, if she really wants it to be a thing then a money box which will be well under £100 and suggest she buys premium bonds with the rest. Then if he wins money every now and again you can spend that on something he needs in the future.

We have just inherited £100 and we are buying 4mo DS a high chair with it.

If your aunt wants you to get a monstrous large toy, a jumperoo would go down well.

decent backpack for carrying DC on walks in the countryside. Is what we bought for DDs first birthday, as we had a houseful of toys from DS. Got a lot of use out of it, then passed it on.

I'd keep aside, you'll soon find need it for something! Don't spend it now just for the sake of it, 4 month babies don't really need much, mobile babies/ toddler are another kettle of fish!

Jumperoo or activity centre. DD (now 5.5 months) loves hers. Or savings account!

Have you got a high chair? Tripp Trapps are really nice, though they're a bit more than that.

Although that's a slightly marmite suggestion for mumsnet as there will now follow at least two dozen posts stating that they are a waste of money.
My eldest still uses hers at every meal time aged 5.2

The backpack idea is a good one, but don't get a framed one. They will KILL you. Get an Ergo. Best mony I spent on my second by far. And the tripp trapp kighchairs ARE great but you can get ones int he same style for about 50 quid. My 3 yo still uses theirs.

If you can't think of anything then you don't need anything. Save it until you need it, I'm sure your aunt would rather you did this. Small kids grow rapidly and I spent as little as possible on mine when they were growing.

We are getting our highchair from East Coast Nursery and it's about £80 - cheaper than a Stokke Tripp Trapp and not that much different.

a superb collection of classic stories by authors such as Hans Christian Anderson. My mum bought my DD a wonderful book (not £100 but it was one book not several) by him, beautiful illustrations and stories. While she was too young to read them, we read to her every day, and sometimes read these, and now she is 5, she looks at the pictures and marvels at the stories within them. She will have them forever, inscribed by her nana.

If your his aunty writes in it, it will be a wonderful memory and something you might not get around to buying him.

I wouldn't, I would save it for them or say thanks but no thanks.
