An establishment like 'Hooters' is pathetic and wrong?

OP posts:
Pan · 07/08/2011 20:21

I'm afraid you are talking rubbish catgirl re the prosecution and SO register.

though we digress aa bit.

still agree wit hthe OP.

worraliberty · 07/08/2011 20:22

Why is it that whenever a subject like this one or porn is raised, someone always tries to take it off topic by bringing children/sex/pedos into it?

Really, why not just stick to the topic here?

catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:22

No I am not Pan. I am afraid you are totally wrong and that would (and has been) prosecuted and people convicted have been placed on the SO register.

BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:22

You are either a troll or a complete numpty- whats the better option? I mean coming onto a thread and telling someone they are being ridiculous because of their opinion? Oh sorry what am I on about, that makes you a very sensible type of person doesn't it?

OP posts:
Pan · 07/08/2011 20:22

Erm - in parctice it v. really is a defence, and one which would balk the CPS

depends what was said of course.

EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:24

catgirl for the record I think paedophilia is wrong and I wish that 13 year old girls were not exposed to unwelcome sexual attention.

I believe that Hooters and attitudes like their defenders have exhibited on this thread do very much promote a culture in which women and children are subjected to unwelcome sexual attention. I think it is naiive to believe otherwise. Its not just a restaurant and its not me who is sounding creepy here.

Pan · 07/08/2011 20:24

go on then. Show me where. I suspect there could be IF the comment was inciting a sex act - not 'wow you've got nice jugs' or some such.

EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:26

Although I have not been to Hooters, I am suprised to hear that the use of sexual innuendo in Hooters will get you thrown out immediately

squeakytoy · 07/08/2011 20:27

Well I can assure you EFA, it will. The waitresses are there to look pretty, take food orders, and serve food. You can have a laugh and joke with them, the atmosphere is very party like, but absolutely no way can you be lewd or suggestive to them.

ChumleeIsMyHomeboy · 07/08/2011 20:27

Absolutely in line with your stated aim of not allowing anyone else to have an opinion Bimbo. Keep going - if you need any more rope please tell me!

EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:30

Hopefully someone like Louis Theroux will do an expose on how much innuendo you can really get away with in Hooters.

BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:31

But how is telling someone they are being ridiculous because you dont agree with them having an opinion? Its just being pure simple!

OP posts:
ChumleeIsMyHomeboy · 07/08/2011 20:32

Do you think that squeakytoy is making that bit up then EFA?

BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:33

I do personally but will no doubt be told im not allowed to have this view if i've not been there- whilst squeaky clearly knows all the rules....

OP posts:
Pan · 07/08/2011 20:33

o dear. Im hiding so many threads these days I'm running out of places to put them all.

EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:34

Well it would be frankly incongruous that in most bars innuendo is hardly a throw outable offence yet in hooters you would be straight out on the street

worraliberty · 07/08/2011 20:35

To be fair Bimbo you called Squeaky a 'porn apologist' earlier on in the thread...because she didn't agree with you. So why get upset when someone tells you that you're being ridiculous just because they don't agree with your opinion?

catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:35

Well squeaky is the only one here who has been to a Hooters so I think she is the only one qualified ot say what happens in one

BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:35

-'Only approved Orange Hooters Girl Shorts are to be worn, sized to fit, and should NOT BE SO TIGHT THAT THE BUTTOCKS SHOW.' That's just one of the important 'image and grooming standards' addressed in the beer and boob emporium's entertaining employee handbook, key excerpts of which you'll find below. The 'essence' of the chain, the handbook notes, is 'entertainment through female sex appeal, of which the LOOK is a key part.' While there are too many amusing parts in the handbook to point out, here's hoping that none of the buxom waitresses run afoul of the chain's Pantyhose Police. The 52-page handbook, a copy of which we found attached as an exhibit to a recent federal lawsuit, also requires Hooters Girls to sign a statement recognizing that they might be on the receiving end of some randy patron comments: 'I hereby acknowledge...the work environment is one in which joking and innuendo based on female sex appeal is commonplace.'

squeakytoy · 07/08/2011 20:35

I have been in dozens of them, and one of my best mates worked in one for quite a few years and is now a manager. I think I have a pretty good idea how they operate.

EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:37
BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:37

Yes of course im sure shes more than qualified- she always seems to have inside knowledge of every issue she debates funnily enough....

OP posts:
catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:38

Why? Because she learnt to use copy and paste and didnt even spot the irony in reproducing a post saying Hooters specifically state the shorts must NOT be so tight that the buttocks show?

catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:38

Well she has been in one and I haven't and you haven't.

Pan · 07/08/2011 20:39

well done Bimbo!
