An establishment like 'Hooters' is pathetic and wrong?

OP posts:
BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:07

The men who shout sexist chauvinstic things at people in the street are the type who would think going to Hooters was 'just a bit of fun' though dont you think? I.e womens body's are for their pleasure, for them to ogle and make disrespectful comments about.

OP posts:
catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:08

No. They know it is ok to look at the waitresses in Hooters but not shout abuse to women in the street as they are able to alter their behaviour in different situations and can easily see the difference between the two situations. They really are clever like that.

catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:09

I don't assume to know what the men going to Hooters are like as I have never been there, but I think it is a bit different looking at attractive women and shouting abuse in the streets. They are rather different behaviours are they not?

If a man was shouting abuse to a woman in Hooters he would be asked to leave.

EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:10

Oh, so who are the blokes who make unwelcome sexual comments to 13 year old girls then? Not men who would go to Hooters?

BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:10

Ha yes, im sure the type of men who frequent hooters have the upmost respect for women and their bodies and wouldn't dream of being so crude...they are positive gentlemen im sure!

OP posts:
squeakytoy · 07/08/2011 20:10

The workers accept money to be treated in a disrespectful way by the customers. The customers pay money to disrespect the workers. These situations are very different.

Christ almighty... Hmm

I paid money for a plate of chicken wings... the fact that the very competent waitress was wearing a tight tshirt and a hot pants actually didnt bother me one way or the other... the male server on the bar was also very pleasant and courteous.

It is a restaurant, you do not see the women getting disrespected by anyone. People go there for the food and the atmosphere, and the clientele includes plenty of women.

I have been in non-themed restaurants and served by girls in short skirts and low cut tops, where there was no need whatsoever for them to dress that way.. but they chose to. Because it is their choice.

squeakytoy · 07/08/2011 20:11

Bimbo, you have NEVER been in a hooters, so how the fuck would you know what the male customers behave like?

You are just assuming. Again.

EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:11

I don't know what your version of "shouting abuse" is catgirl. 13 yer olds are likely to be uncomfortable with "sexual compliments"

catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:11

No - men who make unwelcome sexual comments to 13 year old girls are paedophiles. That is very different from going to a legal restaurant chain Hmm.

ChumleeIsMyHomeboy · 07/08/2011 20:12

I'm afraid, OP, that you are being ridiculous and I wonder if you're doing this on purpose just to get reaction?
Anyway - here's my question to you:

If you were to open a bar, or a restaurant or any other service based business would you employ a shedload of old harridans with faces like the rear end of an aged rhino? If they had warty hands, club feet and bad teeth? Would you do humanity that favour or would you employ nice looking people who won't frighten the horses whose money you hope to take?

BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:13

Squeaky please dont swear at me, I am entitled to my view without having to be in every hooters in the world to analyse the clientele.

OP posts:
EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:14

Men who make unwelcome sexual comments to 13 year olds who look like they are 18 year olds are not paedophiles catgirl

BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:15

And Chumlee you are being a troll. I'd much rather be 'ridiculous' (although many people on the thread feel the same so im clearly ridiculous in company). I'd employ people who are reliable and capable of doing a job, its a novel idea but it tends to work.

OP posts:
catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:15

I think a court would disagree with you EFA

worraliberty · 07/08/2011 20:16

worraliberty are you ok with the idea of blokes ogling and leering at your 13 year old child's breasts and making sexual comments that make her feel uncomfortable? Or should she learn to feel good about it perhaps?

Errrr really if you could keep on topic and get your mind out of the gutter, that would make you sound less creepy Confused

Let's stick to the over 18yr old waitresses shall we?

squeakytoy · 07/08/2011 20:17

Hooter raised over 2million for breast cancer charities last year by the way, in addition to many other charities that they donated to..

BimboNo5 · 07/08/2011 20:18

Oh wow thats great then, that must mean they are in no way sexist....

OP posts:
EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:18

we are talking sexual comments not sexual contact catgirl - very different surely? Courts have no interest in this and making sexual comments to someone under 18 is not against the law as far as I know

Pan · 07/08/2011 20:18

catgirl - no courts would agree. Paedophilia isn't legally defined but we come to accept it as having a sexual attraction ot children. IF the girl looked 18 yo authentically then the comment-maker would not be a paedophile, and the CPS would v. probably not case the case on to prosecution.

Pan · 07/08/2011 20:19

or "carry the case" - even!

catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:19

Erm - yes it really is against the law EFA -what planet are you on? The courts are very interested in men who make sexual comments to 13 year old girls and men who are convicted of doing so end up on the sexual offenders register. And rightly so. Although you obvioulsy don't think so, which is very worrying.

EssentialFattyAcid · 07/08/2011 20:20

If its OK to make sexual comments to women who are over 18 then you can hardly find it suprising that some men will misjudge the age of younger women unless they ask for passport ID before admiring their tits.

squeakytoy · 07/08/2011 20:20

Anyone making a sexual comment to a waitress in Hooters would be thrown out. Immediately.

ChumleeIsMyHomeboy · 07/08/2011 20:20

I'm a troll? Well see now that just tells me exactly what you're all about. You are lost for an answer so shout 'troll' at me. Brilliant. I'm glad you did that - you have just invalidated everything you've said so far about anything.

catgirl1976 · 07/08/2011 20:20

Erm - I am sorry but "she looked older" is not a defense in law.
