Upset that Hair Metal has not had a resurgence.

All of the other sub-genres have had one: grunge, New Romantics, punks, Goths (Topshop did a very good Siouxie Sioux type range a few years back)

HAIR METAL. Needs a comeback. I have a wardrobe full of hair metal band t-shorts just dying to be worn. I want to see men with huge, hairsprayed hair and spandex leggings. AIBU?

Oooh top thread! I lurve hair metal, went to a rock night reunion a couple of years ago with DS's godfather and he wore the full spandex, hairspray, eyeliner combo! In fact that's how we met -him borrowing my eyeliner and lip gloss many years ago. I think he is going to be an eminently suitable godfather!

Gigs I have been to:
Little Angels
Black Crowes x 2
Skid Row x 2 (v jealous re: Seb Bach btw)
Love/Hate
LA Guns
Extreme
Motley Crue x 2
Queensryche
Whitesnake
Def Leppard
Guns 'n' Roses
AC/DC
Metallica x 2
Red Hot Chili Peppers x 3 (and again in Nov!)
The Darkness
Airbourne
Muse

Plus many other random ones - Scissor Sisters, Seasick Steve, Jools Holland and his orchestra, Take That, Tom Jones, The Dixie Chicks, Jamie Cullum, Roger Waters, NERD - bit of an eclectic musical taste here . . .

fairieswearboots · 06/08/2011 22:24

Queen in the early days
Motorhead

PervyMuskrat · 07/08/2011 01:28

Ginger, impressed by mention of Blind Melon and Enuff Z'Nuff! Unfortunately, these days it's all about the Corey Taylor and the Matt Tuck :)

lynniep · 07/08/2011 21:20

Aw, I'm feeling all nostalgic. Was directed to this thread by a friend, who pointed out I'm just about the only person she knew who thought I'd appreciate it :)

I have a terrible memory and can't remember all the bands we used to go see, but one of my greatest moments at 15 was following Wolfsbane to their hotel in Newcastle and chatting to them in the lobby. Then Blaze Bayley came in and asked if I wanted to up for a cup of tea! 'Yes! OF COURSE!!' I said. And off we went into the lift and to his ever-so-slightly-grim hotel room. I actually had coffee. and a chat. And watched some rock vid. Nothing else ( of course my step-mum doesnt' believe me to this day - she went OFF HER HEAD (as would I, I imagine if my daughter told me that little tale)

Twas a great day, especially when I met up with my mates for their gig later and afterwards whilst doing the 'waiting by the stage door thing' Mr Bayley came out and said 'hi Lynn' just to prove I wasnt bullsh**ting. Nice man!

lynniep · 07/08/2011 21:21

bloody hell I've got 18 and life in my head now...

GeetTallBird · 07/08/2011 23:03

lynniep whereabouts do you live?

GeetTallBird · 07/08/2011 23:05

I've got "blackout in the red room" stuck in my head now.
I saw Dan Reed last year and he was amazing and still stunningly beautiful, even without hair!

caughtinanet · 07/08/2011 23:12

I'd totally forgotten how great No Rain is, I'm off to itunes - thanks Ginger and Pervy

acsec · 07/08/2011 23:16

Haha - was making DP youtube hair metal bands in bed this morning - he hates, I love!

GeetTallBird · 08/08/2011 00:02

Has anybody been to a rock festival? I see Sonisphere 2012 is on sale, I'd love to go (hear Red Hot Chilli Peppets may be headlining) but I have no-one to go with! This years looked amazing.

acsec · 08/08/2011 00:03

I would LOVE to go to Sonisphere! I've been to Wacken in Germsny twice - it was immense! But it's more heavy metal than rock

MmeBucket · 08/08/2011 00:47

I'm going to Motley Crue/Poison/New York Dolls on Thursday, and I'm so excited. (This appears to be the only place in the world I know where people would appreciate that fact, and not just roll their eyes at me.) I saw Poison last year before all Bret Michaels' health problems, and they were great.

Jenstar21 · 08/08/2011 01:21

huckingfell I was a Mission girl too in the 'Burgh. The Venue was my venue (!) of choice, however. I knocked myself out, stagediving at a Love/Hate gig there, circa 1990. Oh, how my mum loved that one - picking up her 15 year old daughter with a massive black eye from the Royal Infirmary.... Best hair-metal gig has to be Little Angels at Glasgow Barrowlands, c.1992. Ah, those were the days.... ;)
