All of the other sub-genres have had one: grunge, New Romantics, punks, Goths (Topshop did a very good Siouxie Sioux type range a few years back)

HAIR METAL. Needs a comeback. I have a wardrobe full of hair metal band t-shorts just dying to be worn. I want to see men with huge, hairsprayed hair and spandex leggings. AIBU?

I really feel ITCROWD needs to share more details. Bach was a total rock god - way way hot.

GeetTallBird · 05/08/2011 18:44

Bach was very hot, agreed...Nuno Bettencourt or Dan Reed anybody? Steve Vai?

CMOTdibbler · 05/08/2011 18:52

Nuno Bettencourt mmmmmmmmmmm

I used to go out in an Ann Summers top, micro mini and thigh high boots. People would run in horror if I did that now. Still got the long hair though

herecomesthsun · 05/08/2011 18:56

I have got a big guy with lots of hair who looks wonderful in leather trousers. He would not be seen dead with eyeliner though, which is prob a very good thing!

overgrownplant · 05/08/2011 18:58

those american hair bands of the 80s were blardy ridiculous and shite

Men in leggings - yum.

I was a Rock City-ier too, is it still there?

HuckingFell · 05/08/2011 19:46

Steve Vai - yum yes, Nuno Bettencourt - yes please - i offer you Bret Michaels - drool, steve tyler - raaaar and Nikki Sixx.

HuckingFell · 05/08/2011 19:49

I was a Madisons in edinburgh girl myself plus the mission. Bikers jacket - natch, hot pants, thigh boots and some sort of indian cotton top. Sometimes velour dress with zips, once a rubber dress that laced up - murder to get off after dancing/moshing for hours. Rarely wore the leather trousers (laced up the sides like Mr Bach) out if dancing as they would weld onto your skin and be practically impossible to remove.

GeetTallBird · 05/08/2011 20:06

Brett Michaels ooh yes! But Tommy Lee ooh yes yes yes!
Steve Tyler hmm no, bit scary, so thin!

GingerWrath · 05/08/2011 20:26

I had a pair of way too small spandex jeans, needed a coat hanger to do them up.

Fanciable men back then? Janie Lane, Taime Downe, The Bachmeister, Tom Keifer, Singer from Slaughter, Brett Michaels..ooh, the list goes on!

GingerWrath · 05/08/2011 20:27

Steve Vai was a knobber, he screwed Whitesnake round something chronic.

2littlegreenmonkeys · 05/08/2011 20:33

Mmmmmmm yum to all of them yes please.

CupcakesandTwunting · 05/08/2011 20:55

"I had a week long "liaison" with Sebastian Bach in the very early 90s. I wasn't even a fan of the band. Well, not until after.... "

Shock and Envy

I actually know the wife of Spike from The Quireboys. He was her pin-up when she was a teenager and now she is married to him. That must be weird/brilliant for her. She is beautiful, too. Proper rock-bird gorgeous, like.

Envy I conformed to a certain extent, get the pissed ripped out of me for wearing black on the school run and DD can sing Stone Sour and Metallica word for word. At nearly 40 will I change? Will I bollocks!

DrCoconut · 05/08/2011 22:11

I thought I was the only one!!!!! I listen to a lot of folk as well now but have not forgotten my misspent younger days. It started with Extreme in my teens and got bigger as I got older. Anybody heard of / like White Lion? I used to think Mike T was the fittest man on earth. When I met him it was awesome, didn't do anything other than meet him though, I must add. I started compiling my life soundtrack with all the hair metal songs on it. I should perhaps resurrect that project! :o

squeakytoy · 05/08/2011 22:16

Steve Tyler is a lot fitter in the flesh. (I had a few drinks with him one night, which was completely surreal).

I used to be completely in love with David Coverdale, but he looks dreadful these days.. hasnt aged well at all.

I used to go to Space City in Bolton, and Jillys in Manchester if anyone remembers them in the late 80's.

FromGirders · 05/08/2011 22:41

I remember having a White Lion album! Well, copy of one on cassette. Had completely forgotten about it til you mentioned them.
If we're going for pretty cheesy obscure, does anyone remember Vain?

squeakytoy · 05/08/2011 22:45

I have almost every White Lion album on CD.

I had an amazing vinyl collection, thousands of picture discs.. but stupidly left them at an ex's house :( .. Never got them back and they would have been worth a fortune. I have rebuilt my collection on CD slowly over the years.

I love it when we go to the USA on driving holidays and I can have stations on like Hair Nation which play the old tunes all day long. :)

SpamSpamSpamSpam · 05/08/2011 22:57

Oh god yes...bring back hair metal so I can stop hiding my Motley Crue back catalogue

V. jealous of the Seb Bach liaison! I'd have given my thigh high leather boots for a go at Vince Neil in his hey day. Closest I managed was a drunken tryst with a member of a Bon Jovi tribute band. That tells you just about all you need to know about my life....

DrCoconut · 05/08/2011 23:29

My ex was a Bon Jovi lookalike when we met. He slowly turned into Frank from Shameless :(

DrCoconut · 05/08/2011 23:33

Squeakytoy, I used to go to Jilly's too, though it was in the early 90's. It was a cool and fairly cheap night out as I remember. Not sure I could do it now, they'd probably find me keeled over somewhere at about 9 o'clock!

GingerWrath · 06/08/2011 09:02

I used to doctor my jeans by putting rips all over them and leather laces over the flies. Lacy leggings underneath were a must. Loads of my old vintage t shirts have been DIYed to make them sleeveless v necks. I still have my black lycra miniskirt somewhere (for memories' sake).

Other bands I remember are: LA Guns, Britney Fox, Mr Big, Warrant, Danger Danger. More will come back to me!

superv1xen · 06/08/2011 10:05

ginger i still customise all my skinny jeans by ripping the fook out of them :o

ooh and yes LA guns as well!!

GingerWrath · 06/08/2011 10:31

super I now buy them ready ripped! Smile
