Now the laptop can be anything as long is has wifi so I can skype and is good condition.

And the 32" flatscreen tv must be suitable for the playroom.

Seriously though, why do they let these people on Freecycle? Grin

I'm in the process of starting a blog to collect Freecycle gems like this (if anyone would like to contribute, please PM me :) )

the first post will be this one from Brighton posted last month

OFFERED: used but clean Mooncup

practicallyimperfect · 05/08/2011 22:53

Ooh, we have a 4 man tent offered, could match up.

We also have a wanted for a yarn winder, and a 2011 calendar!

DitaVonCheese · 05/08/2011 23:10

Our local admin freaked out recently and banned all taking the piss wanteds so we don't get them any more :(

I did use to think it was taking the piss to ask for cars etc but saw a surprising number of them being advertised on our old Freecycle in Sauf Landan. Our new local one is fab, there is a new drama every week Grin Other than that have pretty much given up on it as people just take the piss either replying really rudely or not turning up to collect. Meh.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 05/08/2011 23:20

wtaf does this mean?

"this chair wud suit elderly person my nan used it in her kitchen when she was bad. it folds up, and leans so u can rest on it silver with black seat (hailo is on it )"

Confused
biddysmama · 05/08/2011 23:21

my favourite one was " offered childs head on a stick horse" Hmm

MrsBonkers · 06/08/2011 11:23

Oooh I have a 2011 calender that I don't want - maybe I should offer it!

Come to think of it, they can have my child's head on a stick too after the grizzling for no reason she's done today!

lovecorrie · 06/08/2011 11:28

CAn I have a holiday? Portugal preferably, AI not essential, but transfers included and two bed duplex near the sea are essential. Not crowded, kids club but no kids called chardonnay/leeigh-An/bayleigh , oh and no 'entertainment'. Ta.

Mitmoo · 06/08/2011 11:29

A neighbour actually went out and bought be a second hand flat screen yesterday. But I'm not sharing. Grin

lovecorrie · 06/08/2011 11:36

'i am in need of a dubble bed frame if anyone has one they no longer need as mine brock please can any help .. '

Just found the above. Bless!

dazzlingdeborahrose · 06/08/2011 11:41

My favourite ever freecycle request (apart from "does anyone have a mini they no longer use" Yes people they meant car not skirt) was. "Does anyone have a chemical toilet they no longer want. Friends lent us their caravan for a holiday but it doesn't have a loo so we'd like to fit one for them as a thank you" Woah - as a thank you to your friends you would like to install a second hand (used) chemical toilet that you picked up for free and without asking them whether they actually want one. Can you imagine the conversation? "We thought about wine and chocolates but in the end decided on fitting a used chemical toilet - ta da!!!! Hmm

dazzlingdeborahrose · 06/08/2011 11:44

Oh, and I also liked "I'm going on holiday and I'd like an underwater digital camcorder. Does anybody have one?"

Oh the temptation to reply "I think I've seen them in Curry's!" Grin

LoveBeingAtHomeOnMyOwn · 06/08/2011 11:52

MakesCakes - mine has an offer of loads of large cardboard boxes maybe we could get them together.

I'm very new to it but am suprised how many people say thing like must be modern when asking for stuff. If you really need a wardrobe that ad surely any will do?!?Confused

LoveBeingAtHomeOnMyOwn · 06/08/2011 11:55

Btw here's one that's on mine ATM

16301	WANTED- Life size skeleton-

makescakes - I have the cardboard for the person making the spaceship! We've just moved DD into her own room so have the cot packaging. Hurray, this means I won't have to drag the cardboard out for the binmen - it can fly out with it's booster rockets.

Whoop whoop

Grin

Think I might have to register on my local one for a laugh. I have to admit, a lot of our -rubbish-- unwanted items goes to charity shops but I always feel slightly guilty in case I'm giving them things which won't sell.

fruitloafrocks · 06/08/2011 12:17

Someone recently posted on my local freecycle a rather bitchy message about people not giving her stuff when she replied to wanted adds - she was fed up of asking for things and people never getting back to her.... poor thing.

wolfyideas · 06/08/2011 12:23

I hope when you all get the big, expensive things you want need, you will totally fail to thank the donor, or acknowledge their generosity in any way. It's so lovely answering a wanted ad and having the person turn up and collect the item, moan about having to walk up a few stairs to get it, expect you to carry it to their car for them, while they have a conversation with someone on their mobile...

And this was on my local list this week:
im in desperate need of some chest of draws as me and my children are
living out of bin bags ...

AuntieMonica · 06/08/2011 12:40

this 'gem' is our latest digest Shock

A member of my family is moving into a new flat, and needs everything apart from a bed and a tv, she needs a fridge, microwave, cooker, washing machine, sofa, etc.

no shit, sherlock? you need all that stuff for a new flat?

TheMonster · 06/08/2011 12:42

We had a 2011 calendar offered on our freecycle the other day.

The same person this week has asked for camping stuff (including a tent) and offered a tent. Odd.

Honeydragon · 06/08/2011 12:52

Coffee..... I don't suppose Fisher price to 32" plasma too, at all? Grin

Just found:

Need two, two seater sofa's in dark brown

If red was offered to you think they'd throw a strop Confused

flyingspaghettimonster · 06/08/2011 13:10

we asked for large cardboard boxes on CL a few years back, and some lovely man actually drove a load over to our place in his pick up truck... we built an awesome castle out of them while the kids were asleep, stayed up till 4am painting it with the 1quid wrong colour paint from Lowes, and enjoyed watching all the little princesses at my daughter's party play inside the tower and dungeon... it took up half our living room for a month before we tired of it... :)

Awomancalledhorse · 06/08/2011 13:13

Offered; have a lovely boy Chinese Dwarf Hamster; Thompson who is one year old. My children are board with him and do not play with him anymore. He comes with a cage. I also have another cage, pink, if anyone else would just like a cage but with no hamster.
What happened to the other hamster?! :(

Wanted; wall clock with bicycle theme. A very unusual wanted item but hope someone has one to giveaway.

Best one is: Wanted; Working Car. Hi we are moving soon outside of London and will have to walk 8 miles a day to my daughters school if we don't have a car. If you have a working car you no longer need or want then please get in touch. Many thanks.

LoveBeingAtHomeOnMyOwn · 06/08/2011 13:27

Would live to hear the other side if these wanted ads, why they thought it was a good idea and if they get any replies.

TooImmature2BDumbledore · 06/08/2011 13:31

This one amused me because it is just so random:

good evening. Does anyone have a glug glug jug they no longer want? It is shaped like a fish and makes glug noises when you pour the water. If not does anyone know where I might get one? Thanks in advance.

Wtf is a glug glug jug?

nickelbabe · 06/08/2011 13:37

nickelbabe · 06/08/2011 13:39
