Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, Elmo, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

I have a semi-interesting idea...see the other thread. :) I don't know. It's either find something that works or scream at him, and I don't want to do that.

Tiredmumno1 · 12/09/2011 21:09

Hi all,

Yes i am still here, i know you miss me when i am not Grin

Teaandcakeplease · 12/09/2011 21:15

Awww Jamie sounds so sweet. I've had the same weather as you tiredmum. It's very odd.

I'll be interested to hear how it works out Cheerful. It's always been so important to me to try to explain everything, as clearly as I can (my parents were very much of the "because-I-said-so" school), but it's already coming back to bite me! Some days DH will phone and ask if DS is arguing about something with me, and when I say yes, he tells me he can hear it in my voice. It's not the arguing...it's that I'm losing the argument with a 3yo!!!

Good to see you Tiredmum, Jamie sounds positively adorable. You'll have to post an updated piccy or two for us! Wish we had the rain that you and Tea are having. Everything here is dreadfully dry the last couple of weeks and the rain barrels are empty now.

Hope you're ok Elmo, is the storm there now?

Tiredmumno1 · 13/09/2011 08:39
Grin

I will sort a couple of pics real soon, he is getting so big now Smile

Cheerful sorry i wasnt to much help on your other thread, i hope it all calms down for you, fingers crossed its a phase.

Going out shopping today, just praying its not to busy.

H E A D H U R T S

Off to lie down whilst DS is napping and DD is in school. Bless her, she was exhausted after yesterdays first full day. Bedtime she went into meltdown. I had to sing to her whilst stroking her face to calm her. Felt like she was a newborn again, it's been a long time sinde I'd last had to do that, she asked me to sing for her. Poor thing.

Hello Smile

We had a power cut just after i posted on cheerful's thread last night , it lasted just over 4 hours . A few trees have fallen down from the wind and the ferries have been cancelled because of the sea being too rough but nothing major thankfully Smile . We are hoping today is the last of it .
I think the reward chart is a great idea btw cheerful.

Grin

Any plans for dp's birthday Tiredmum ?

gomummygo · 13/09/2011 21:20

Aw Tea, she must have been so tired, bless her. How sweet that she wanted you to sing to her, lovely that she finds it so comforting.

Glad you are alright Elmo, are you very close to the seaside?

Good to see you back Tiredmum! Thank you for doing the rain dance, could you please post a photo of said rain dance when you post the new pics of Jamie? Grin

Have you given the new tactic a shot yet Cheerful?

CheerfulYank · 13/09/2011 21:53

Aw...poor Tea's DD, she must have been really tired. DS had his first day at his other school today. He seemed to really like it!

Thank you for replying on my other thread, everyone! I think we'll just have to take it one day at a time. A few times today I've just said "I'm not arguing" and left it at that with a warning that he will go to his room if he continues. I think I will try to make sure he gets lots and lots of fresh air and running around time...like puppies, it seems like small children do best with lots of exercise. :o

I sent DH a list of the graphics I want for DS's responsibility/behavior chart so hopefully we can get it up and running soon.

Glad you're okay Elmo! I was thinking of you and hoping everything was going well.

I want to see Jamie pics too! :)

elmofan · 13/09/2011 22:24

Does dd have a long day in school tea? Over here at
that age they are only in school for 4.5 hours and even that
tires my dd out.

I think its really cute that she asked you to sing to her x

gomummy i live only a 5 minute drive from the seaside.
So about 3 miles (ish ) to my local beach.

I love walking my dog on the beach after dropping the dc's off at school
and its so quiet it's lovely
.
Thanks cheerful, were fine here Smile
Hows the christmas photo coming along?

I kept last years one in my photo album Smile

CheerfulYank · 14/09/2011 01:01

Aw...that's so cool to think there's a photo of us somewhere in Ireland. I love Mumsnet and how it brings people together. :) This year's photo is still in the works. They require a lot of planning! :o

Teaandcakeplease · 14/09/2011 02:33

DD starts at 8.50am and finishes at 3.30pm. Envy of the beach walks

elmofan · 14/09/2011 18:57

Ireland is so small it's hard not to live near a beach Grin

Ahh that is a long day on dd tea , no wonder she is tired .

Cheerful - last years photo was adorable , good luck trying to top it this year Smile
I'm hoping to start on my Christmas shopping this week Blush i know it's early but my local shops have started to stock wrapping paper already.

CheerfulYank · 14/09/2011 19:52

Don't worry, I started mine already. :)

I'm addicted to internet shopping Blush and this way I can scour websites for good deals and tell DH "this way we won't have to buy things in December and rush around and get all stressed!"

Wink
Teaandcakeplease · 14/09/2011 21:23

The thing is, I get so excited about gifts for my kids and seeing their faces, I think I'd burst if I had to keep something hidden that long Grin LOL

Urgh throat hurts. Off to bed in a sec, hoping for a better nights sleep.

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 14/09/2011 23:29

Sleep well love! Have something hot with honey.

gomummygo · 15/09/2011 13:46

Cooler here too, about the same. I love sweater season! Supposed to hit 0 on Friday. Spending lots of time putting wood in...can feel it coming already. Fall seems so short the last few years.

Another early Christmas shopper here, about 25% done. Lots of things ordered but not arrived as our postal system moves at the pace of an exhausted snail.

Stores here are full of halloween stuff right now, no Christmas stuff yet (which will show up the day after halloween). We don't really do halloween, so I'm just starting to think about Thanksgiving. I love doing the big meal, and the leaves are turning now so hopefully DS and I can make some fall decor. Poor guy collected all kinds of leaves in his wagon the other day, only to have a gust of wind blow them all away, he was so sad about it that I went around chasing leaves like a crazy person.... Blush

Teaandcakeplease · 15/09/2011 17:02

It's still quite warm here, it's watery sunshine and about 18 degrees most days. The leaves are starting to turn and the conkers to fall. But not really chilly yet, except first thing in the morning for a short while but that's about 11 degrees, still warm compared to what you're probably getting. Did you have a summer GoMummy? Smile Feels like when our weather was warm in April you still had snow and that even though our weather is still mild yours is turning cooler.

Full of cold, sandpaper throat and snotty nose.

OP posts:
Teaandcakeplease · 15/09/2011 17:04

I don't "do" halloween really. I'll probably buy in some sweets in case someone knocks but that'll be it. It's not as big here as in the US anyway, although it does sometimes feel that we're becoming more like the states with Halloween.

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 15/09/2011 17:54

We do Halloween but no spooky stuff. A black cat or some silly spiders is one thing, but I'm sort of uncomfortable with devils and gory stuff so we don't do that.

I tend to do more "autumn decor" than Halloween so I can leave it up longer. :o

I'm at school and my student is headed to lunch so I'd better catch up with her. Be back soon! :)

Teaandcakeplease · 15/09/2011 21:24

GoMummy you should head over to this thread

OP posts:
gomummygo · 16/09/2011 02:50

Thanks Tea, have added my typically Canadian addiction (Tim Hortons) and a couple of other recommendations.

Feeling better that others don't really "do" Halloween either, DH says we are odd!

No, we don't really have much in the way of a summer. A lot of people take it really seriously where I am, most people's holidays are scheduled around it, etc. I used to always take mine in the fall though, I'm not much for the humidity. We're going to have frost tonight, it is 4 right now but supposed to go to 0 overnight. Fall can stay as long as it likes, but winter...argh....will come far too soon for my liking!

CheerfulYank · 16/09/2011 04:26

Although sometimes my friends and I like to dress up and go out on Halloween...I've decided I might be a witch this year just so I can do these eyes Blush
