Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, Elmo, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

It really is! :)

So I have started another AIBU thread about my barking sweet SIL. Sigh. I wish she and BIL did not drive me to madness, but they do. They really do.

gomummygo · 22/08/2011 23:20

We really should have traded Cheerful, up until this year I had hostas that would take over anything! DH and I seriously wondered if they'd plow their way through cement, lol!

Biking is great! Or at least it used to be, LOL, before DS was born! Suppose I may get to do it again someday once he's on two wheels. What a nice surprise from your DB, must have made your day.

CheerfulYank · 22/08/2011 23:28

It really did! I took it for a late night spin and it was so nice to be all alone for once. :) The stars were out and it was a nice cool night...we've had such a hot summer; it felt great!

elmofan · 23/08/2011 13:39

Hi all Smile

Oooh i used to love cycling too (pre dc's days) Smile

Ds starts secondary school tomorrow - he is excited and we have to go shoe shopping AGAIN today as the shoes i bought him in Advance in July do not fit him now ..... agggghhhhh (so much for thinking i was being very organised) lol

How is everyone ?

CheerfulYank · 24/08/2011 22:44

How did it go for DS Elmo ?

elmofan · 25/08/2011 10:51

Good morning Smile

He had a great time thanks cheerful Smile , he is back in this afternoon and looking forward to it . He is very relieved that the bully from his last school is not in his new class . In fact this school is so big that he only has 2 kids from his old school in his class now . So Fingers crossed it's a new start Smile

CheerfulYank · 25/08/2011 18:34

Oh that's great! :) Good for him. And the neighbors will be out soon?

We have to go to DS's preschool tonight and meet his new teacher. He's looking forward to it, so that's good.

Teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2011 18:54

Teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2011 19:47

Errrr 6th Sept? Need to check the diary again, seems far away still tbh but I know the days will fly by.

OP posts:
CheerfulYank · 25/08/2011 21:09

We're the 6th of September too. No, it's not the big school. Well, sort of. :) He will go to preschool at the elementary school on M,W,F from 8-10:30, and then a different school (but right across the street) on T,R from 8-12. I wanted him to go every day so that if we decide to send him to kindergarten next year he'll be more prepared. He's younger than the group he's always been with (they all seem to have autumn/winter birthdays whereas DS was born in July) and we still haven't decided if we're going to keep him another year or go forward with kindergarten. I'm so torn!

There are other children with summer birthdays but they didn't start going to parent circle when DS and I did, so they're with the younger group. Also DS went to preschool last year (just on Tuesdays and Thursdays) and many parents whose children have summer birthdays are waiting because they know they won't do kindergarten til their kids are 6. But DS has always been social and loved being with other kids so we joined everything a bit early. Blush

I don't want to push him but at the same time I don't want to hold him back if he's ready. And he won't like all of his friends going but not him.

Teaandcakeplease · 25/08/2011 21:54

My daughter is only 4 and starts school full time. The UK is quite insane I sometimes think Wink You sound like you're doing everything right Cheerful no need for any blushes Smile

You will know weather ds is ready for school next year when the time comes cheerful Smile . Over here children start at 4yrs of age , it's very young IMO .

tea has DD met her new teacher yet?

Tiredmumno1 · 25/08/2011 22:26

Its exciting when the kids start school, mine love school, and cant wait to be back Smile, they go back on the 6th aswell, oh no more sleep ins Grin

Hope everyone is ok?

Elmo glad to hear your ds is happy and hope it stays that way

CheerfulYank · 25/08/2011 23:54

Hope everything is ironed out for your DS when school starts too, Tiredmum!

Here they have insane testing starting in third grade, so it's to the teachers' advantage to have the kids start later. That way most of them are nine when they hit third grade instead of barely eight and are more able to test well.

Teaandcakeplease · 26/08/2011 08:50

She's met the tteacher once, she came to my flat to meet her.

Oh that's nice Tea . :)

We went to DS's preschool yesterday and it's really nice. It's a new one that's just opening and the teacher seemed really warm, which is nice. Everything was brand new and really organized well. DS liked the look of all the toys, so that was good.

gomummygo · 26/08/2011 18:09

Oh I am so not envious of you all headed to school/back to school. Here they can start f/t at 4yo, but at 5 it's no longer optional. It varies in different provinces, education is Provincial here. Part time would be ok with me but full time....I doubt I'll send DS until he is 5, it just seems so young to me to send him off on a bus and not see him for almost nine hours, five days a week! I shall be a blubbering wreck when that day comes! Blush Hope things go smoothly for everyone's DCs.

CheerfulYank · 26/08/2011 18:14

I don't know the age where school attendance is mandatory here. Our kindergarten has three options (half days, full days every other day, or all day every day). Most people do the all day every day, but I think I will start DS on half days and then try all day every day after winter break. We'll see! That's a year away anyway. :) Although he will be going every day half days in preschool this year, so...

CheerfulYank · 26/08/2011 18:17

Tea I stopped by the Christian prayer thread. :)

My friend dropped off her two DDs with me to go pick up her husband...he's home from Afghanistan! :o He's been gone for a year and I'm so glad he's back safely.

elmofan · 26/08/2011 18:43

Evening all

Anyone fancy a glass of Wine ?

CheerfulYank · 26/08/2011 18:55

I would love one...it's 1 pm here, but no worries, right? :)

elmofan · 26/08/2011 19:16

I need one to settle my nerves. Its 7.15pm here

gomummygo · 27/08/2011 01:26

Me please! After 8pm here now! :) How are your nerves now Elmo?

Yay for your friend and her family Cheerful. Deployed for a year? Must have been really hard on all of them, that sounds awfully long.

elmofan · 28/08/2011 13:35

My nerves are fine now thanks Gomummy Grin

I have even survived a thread in AIBU this morning so that's good ,lol

How is everyone ? Hope you are all having a lovely weekend .
