Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, Elmo, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

Ooh, Lisa , just watched the clip. Very cool! (You, erm, are who I think you are, right??)

Teaandcakeplease · 09/08/2011 06:40

I'm so glad you saw someone and now have anti biotics. Back pain would indicate your kidneys are suffering. Get better soon love x

Oh cheerful Sad sorry you are sickly . Lovely you will need to drink lots & lots (over 2lts per day if possible) of water to try flush out the infection . Cranberry juice is great for clearing out the infection in the bladder , it stops the bacteria from clinging to the wall of the bladder (tmi sorry) . As for the Nausea , You can get anti sickness tablets (motilium are great) just ask your pharmacist if they are ok to take with your antibiotics . I lived on motilium for 2yrs after my kidney operation years ago .

Hope you are getting lots of rest xx and hope ds's head is ok too [hugs]

gomummygo · 09/08/2011 15:01

Aw Cheerful, that sounds awful! :( Hope your antibiotics kick in soon. Can you take painkillers to help cope with the pain until things improve?

Hope things were ok with DS's head.

CheerfulYank · 09/08/2011 19:28

Feeling much better today, just feverish and achy. I'm just going to rest and drink for a few days. I have had two big jugs of cranberry juice over the past few days and hope it will help.

How are all of you? I'm so worried for everyone over there with the riots. I don't want to sound like a "typical American" but it may be time to get tough or for the police to bust out the water cannons or something!

elmofan · 09/08/2011 19:46

Barley water is very good too Smile glad
your starting to feel a bit better.
Hows ds's head? poor little man.

valiumredhead · 10/08/2011 12:05

Yanky hope you are feeling better soon x

Won;t be here for a bit as we have guests for 2 weeks, but I will be back so keep my seat on the bench warm please! Grin

elmofan · 10/08/2011 12:42

CheerfulYank · 10/08/2011 15:03

Yes, have fun Valium ! :)

Can't believe what's going on over there! Shock So sad for the families of people who have been killed.

elmofan · 10/08/2011 16:35

It must be so scary to have all that trouble in your home town Sad

How are you feeling today cheerful ?

CheerfulYank · 10/08/2011 21:50

Pretty good Elmo , just tired. :)

DS is going to stay with my parents for a few days. I'm going to miss him, it'll be quiet around here! But nice to have the time just for DH and me.

gomummygo · 11/08/2011 01:37

Evening all, suppose I've missed you for today. Hope everyone is well.

Thought I'd show my naievety and ask those of you in the know - what on earth really started all the rioting? It is horrible and shocking what we are seeing on the news, but none of it seems to mention why this all really started? I should probably be Blush for not knowing this already but please enlighten me?

CheerfulYank · 11/08/2011 02:04

From what I understand a man (Mark Duggan) was shot and killed by the police. His family and friends demanded answers in what was an initially peaceful protest. It got out of hand. And now, in my opinion only, a lot of awful teenagers and young adults are taking advantage of the situation to burn and loot.

It sounds horrible. 4 men have been killed already the last I heard. :( And it doesn't sound like the police can really do much. Here we'd have got out the water cannons and tear gas long ago, though I don't know if that's any better.

gomummygo · 12/08/2011 01:44

Thanks Cheerful. I knew about the initial police incident, but didn't know how it got from that to a full on riot. It does look horrible from what we're seeing on the news...hard to understand why it hasn't been brought to an end (whatever force necessary from police/military/etc.). Scary looking. :(

CheerfulYank · 12/08/2011 03:41

And now a 68 year old man has died because he told them to stop setting fire to trash bins.

I don't care if the PC brigade jumps on me for it: FUCKING SCUM!

gomummygo · 12/08/2011 15:03

That is horrible. I read about a man who went to help another and found it to be his own 21 year old son (who died from his injuries).

I'm sure this is an inappropriate thing to say but I SO do not understand the point of all of this violence and destruction. It is still beyond me how it came to this. I sometimes wonder if the media presentation of all of this is an accurate representation of how it is irl?

M0naLisa · 12/08/2011 23:11

Yeah i am lol.

here are the links:

M0naLisa · 12/08/2011 23:13

The riots are fucking horrible. When i was in London there were police everywhere and that was in Kensington, we went to Harrods as it was the only place still open. Everyone was putting their shutters down and locking the doors. Herds of police everywhere in groups, Sirens every 5 mins. It was scary to think they could strike. We stayed in the hotel for our own safety just in case.

CheerfulYank · 12/08/2011 23:19

I'm sorry, they can talk about why this has happened after they've stopped it.

Bring on the water cannons. Or tear gas. I'm serious. This is not a peaceful protest; innocent people are being murdered.

elmofan · 14/08/2011 15:55

Well said Cheerful Smile
