Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, Elmo, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

id someone mention wine and cake? I prefer red but it is a bit early in the day, don't like tea but am partial to coffee and loads of different varieties of cake

CheerfulYank · 19/11/2011 17:05

Hi Barkis ! Sit down and stay awhile. We just hang out and talk. :)

I hadn't heard anything about your new money Gomummy ! How funny! I have always liked the different colors though.

Oh tiredmum he is so cute! I WANT A BABY! I love how we all get to watch him grow up, so to speak. Our lovely little Bench Baby :)

We have our first "real" snow today. 'Bout time! We always have a good covering by Thanksgiving so I was starting to wonder. :) I have the ILS Thanksgiving tomorrow. I am bringing some sort of spaghetti squash gratin thing. I've never made it before, eek!

valiumredhead · 19/11/2011 17:12

Funny money Grin

gomummygo · 19/11/2011 18:53

Cheerful that spaghetti squash gratin thing is delicious if it is the same baked dish I am thinking of. Happy Thanksgiving, hope you have a wonderful dinner!

Grin that everyone thinks our money is funny! When it's in my wallet beside the nice professional looking US money, it always looks a bit like monopoly money to me! I just hope we don't come out with another bloody coin! Ever since the toonie and loonie, my purse has tripled in weight!

ElmoFan · 19/11/2011 19:01

Is that $100 bill all plastic or only a little bit of a plastic strip on it ? I have visions of you trying to clean all the new bills if there made of plastic gomummy

gomummygo · 19/11/2011 19:05

Nope Elmo, it's all plastic, and all of our paper bills are going to be replaced by them eventually. Grin @ trying to clean the bills, what an excellent idea!! Money is so filthy, I wonder if it is possible? LOL!

ElmoFan · 19/11/2011 19:17

Grin Plastic money is a great idea , No more grubby , have torn notes . Hope they catch on to that idea over here . Grin

ElmoFan · 19/11/2011 19:19

Blush I meant " Half torn notes"

CheerfulYank · 19/11/2011 19:33

It's an easy recipe gomummy. You cook the squash and put the strands in a baking dish. Then sautee minced onions, sun dried tomatoes, spinach and garlic, then dump it over the squash and toss with asiago cheese. Done. :)

Glad you had a lovely time valium, cant believe you managed to get up and go out that early, well done you.

Loving the plastic money gomummy I want some, glad you enjoyed the pics, and it is lovely you are all getting to see him grow up cheerful, you are all the buddy bench aunties Grin

How's everything getting on your end elmo, hope things are calm?

Hi barkis, welcome to the buddy bench, newbies are always welcome Smile

Sounds similar to the one I've done Cheerful, except it has roasted red peppers in place of the sundried tomatoes and parmesan instead of asiago, and you bake it again after putting everything together so it gets sort of crusty on top. Will have to try yours over the holidays, I adore sundried tomatoes!

So I am imagining that we have a virtual Christmas tree at the end of the bench. What would each of your ornaments be?

CheerfulYank · 19/11/2011 22:02

Oooh, I may bake it a bit just to kind of gel things together :) Maybe pop it under the broil and let it brown a little.

Ooohhhhh....ornaments! Um...for starters I think I would do glittery pinecones. I love making those with DS. :)

gomummygo · 19/11/2011 22:32

Sometimes I mix up a bit of bread crumbs, butter, and a little extra cheese and put it on top before it goes back in the oven to get a bit more crust.

Can I ask how you make glittery pinecones? DS has an abnormal obsession with interest in pinecones, sounds like something he'd love!

CheerfulYank · 19/11/2011 23:07

Just glue and glitter. :) You could dip them in watered-down glue and then roll them in glitter, add ribbon and hang!

BarkisIsWillin · 20/11/2011 00:53

Thanks for the Wine. Had enough for now, off to bed, night

gomummygo · 20/11/2011 02:10

Well, I think we can manage that! Grin We have the glitter glue but it always ends in disaster...

gomummygo · 20/11/2011 02:10

Night Barkis!

CheerfulYank · 22/11/2011 00:10

Helllllloooo Benchers!

How are we all?

DH, DS and I are leaving in a minute to make the 45 minute drive to the big city :) We need snowpants, boots, and all the Thanksgiving fixin's.

Teaandcakeplease · 22/11/2011 09:56

I have just finished helping on a course with a rather fabulous man who was born in England but grew up in Canada. He has a lovely accent and is rather gorgeous to look at Smile

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 22/11/2011 13:50

Where was he from tea?

I HAVE A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION! -

If one were to hide a thread in a fit of rage, how would one get the thread back once angered had subsided and nosiness returned Wink

Teaandcakeplease · 22/11/2011 14:03

He lives in Surrey now and works in a London hospital. he's just finishes a degree in radiography. He's a mature student now, also divorced, his wife cheated on him.

Ummm errr I think it's probably best to message mumsnet about the hidden thread, or try and cheat the system by clicking on your name if you have a profile and back into recent threads you've posted on perhaps and then marking it as "I'm watching"?

Anyway this forum is rather public so I better not say anymore about Canadian accent man Blush It's all pie in the sky. I think he is utterly drop gorgeous and lovely. But once you've both been through the trauma of adultery and both have children it's rather a different scenario on dating. It's a big step, you need to be sure and I'd want to know him a lot better. Besides I only know him a little at the moment. Admire him from afar and I do not even know if he likes me at all.
