Come hither all those who haven't found their place on mumsnet, have scrapped in Aibu or crossed words in chat. The buddy bench shalt not judge.

The buddy bench will hand out wine and cakes, it will join you on your scoffathons getting pissed

All those who sit on the bench, will have their sins erased and be given a warm welcome and cheerful chat from CheerfulYank, gomummy, tiredmum, Elmo, valiumredhead and far, far too many more to mention.

Welcome to the buddy bench, we look forward to meeting you all Smile

Oh and don't forget, last one to leave polishes bench and locks up!

I can change back to tea?

Where is this thread you speak of Valium, I cannot find it.

elmofan · 05/10/2011 18:40

I agree with you Valium , not very nice language to use on a forum IMO

Gomummy i just use Butter and a splash of cream and season well Smile

At Halloween we put Curly Kale into our mashed potato's , Do you all do that too ?

CheerfulYank · 05/10/2011 18:43

So cute! "Lllllook in the bucket!" :o It's so funny to hear your voice!

A thread I started made discussions of the day! Shock Have I Arrived ? :o Of course it's a thread talking about what a terrible parent I feel like now that DS is 4, but...

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 18:45

elmo I swear like a trooper -it's not the language, it's the fact it's directed AT me and then a second thread about it?

wookiee I am on ds's crap lap top and keep losing the page when I try and do a link.

gomummygo · 05/10/2011 18:49

I don't see it either Valium?

Never tried kale in them. At Halloween I put in parsley and chives with sour cream. I am positively potato obsessed though. At St. Patrick's Day I make bubble & squeak. The rest of the time I put in different kinds of cheeses (brie especially good) or roasted garlic or sauteed onions with bacon....aaaaaaaa....dinner is still four hours away and now I am ravenous! Grin My favourite is a double-baked stuffed, but I do a lot of roasted ones because they are so easy (DS can be quite a handful in that pre-dinner hour these days!).

elmofan · 05/10/2011 18:55

Oooh i love Garlic mash especially when its under a steak with pepper cream sauce Grin
I have never tasted cheesy mash , it sounds delicious , do you melt the cheese then add it to the mash ?

Would you like me to link for you Valium ? x

gomummygo · 05/10/2011 18:57

Aaah Cheerful, do I sound like you???

And yes, I think you have arrived, Discussions of the Day!

CheerfulYank · 05/10/2011 19:03

You do! Except we say "out" differently! :)

I have a video of DS on my fb but I'm not talking on it.

gomummygo · 05/10/2011 19:03

Exactly Elmo, roasted garlic mash under a steak with a pepper cream sauce, one of my favourites!!! Grin

Depends on the cheese. Usually I heat a bit of cream and melt the cheese into it, then add to mash. Things like old cheddar are good for that. Softer cheeses like brie though, I cut up into little bits and mash into the mash, love getting those little bites.

I have just read a recipe I am curious about - you make caesar salad dressing, then mix that into your mash. I am not sure if it would be delicious or horrible?

valiumredhead · 05/10/2011 19:04

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/1314775-To-think-that-if-you-don-t-like-swearing-don-t-join-a-thread-wi second thread!

yanky woo hoo well done you Grin

gomummygo · 05/10/2011 19:10

OK, I'm with you now Valium, thanks for the link. And I agree with you, but I am admittedly biased as I hate that particular word. Which seems hypocritical as I swear like a trooper when DS is not around, but it's that particular word that bugs me. I am also a bit pedantic though and it really wasn't the correct word for what the post described! Grin Grin

Really Cheerful? Yay! I lurve the various American accents and like trying to place them geographically...have never thought we sounded alike at all!!! Lots of tourists in my area, now going to listen to how they say "out"! Grin

CheerfulYank · 05/10/2011 19:24

It's more like owt here...I can always tell a Canadian because it sounds closer to "oat" to my ears. :)

Tiredmumno1 · 05/10/2011 21:04

She sounds vile valium, cant believe she swore at you, what a horrid woman.

Well dinner was yum and i am now full Grin

Would love to know what gomummys brekkie would consist of

gomummygo · 05/10/2011 21:41

Grin Cheerful, now I want to hear you say it, LOL!

Tiredmum DH only gets it on weekend mornings, but it's ham or sausage, bacon or back bacon, homefries with onions, eggs (sunny side up for him, scrambled with cream for me, scrambled with spinach Hmm for DS) and Texas toast. Decorative fried tomato slices or orange slices.

On occasion they will request pancakes or lattkes with it as a treat.

Then we don't eat until dinner, lol!

gomummygo · 05/10/2011 21:42

STARVING

All this talk of food has me stealing bites of counting the minutes until dinner!

CheerfulYank · 05/10/2011 21:44

When we get our floor done and things moved back where they're supposed to be I'll make a video of my house for you. :)

Mmm....food!

gomummygo · 05/10/2011 21:49

Oh you must do that Cheerful! Grin

  • get to nosy at DIY, see Cheerful's house, hear American "out" ... excited! Can you also please say "bag" or something like that on the video? It is that sound that helps me with my mental map of American accents! Blush Grin
Tiredmumno1 · 05/10/2011 22:10

Gomummy all that sounds yummy, well except the spinach Grin, i had to google what texas toast was Blush i thought it was going to be a fancy way of toasting Grin, we have hovis doorstep bread, which i am gonna guess is similar Smile, one day us benchers will get to it your scrummy sounding food.

Cant wait til you do a video cheerful, i am looking forward to hearing your accent aswell, gomummy maybe we both need to get a hobby eh Grin

And wookiee its fine if you like this name we'll have to get used to it thats all, really is entirely up to you Smile

Tiredmumno1 · 05/10/2011 22:12

to eat your scrummy food - it Hmm

Grin
CheerfulYank · 05/10/2011 22:14

I say bag differently from most Minnesotans...it's my one holdover from living in Ohio until I was 7! :)

gomummygo · 05/10/2011 22:44

Grin Nope, nothing fancy about texas toast, Tiredmum, but I'd love the chance to feed you all! My chili for this evening would clear your sinuses of that cold, I'll bet.

Oh no Cheerful! You mustn't confuse my accent map with your out-of-state "bag"! Grin LOL, You should hear the sound of me after I spend any time in New York! I'm one of those people who picks up little bits of accents and has no idea until someone says "why are you talking like that?" Blush

CheerfulYank · 05/10/2011 23:04

I love Texas toast! :)

Looking around my house now from an objective eye it looks a bit shabby, so you have to promise not to judge when I make my video... :o

CheerfulYank · 05/10/2011 23:46

Our supper is a bit shabby tonight too...celery with peanut butter, bananas, and mac 'n' cheese from a box for DS...cold cereal for me. Blush

TiredMUMMYno1 · 05/10/2011 23:50

One of my new halloween names Grin
