That actor is Mathew Baynton (see my earlier post!). I'm old enough to be his mother Blush

Just got home from the Horrible Histories prom. It was FAB! ds loved it although he did put his hands over his ears at a couple of points when the orchestra was going full throttle. (We were in the Gods standing right above the orchestra so it got v. loud.)

Was well worth the lengthy train journey, hour queuing and two hours standing during the performance. Really exciting. Only negative was that hundreds of people waited outside the stage door for 45 minutes only for some security guard to come out and tell us to bog off. (Well, he said 'the cast aren't coming out, there won't be any autographs and they won't be leaving by this door'.) Which seemed a snotty way to treat hundreds of children and teenagers. OK, the crowd was huge, but still, they could have sent a nice message or said sorry or something.

we were lucky enough to go to the prom today and it was just brilliant. They filmed it so hopefully it will get aired at some point.

Great to see them all live! Kids got right to the front so they had a ball.

piratecat · 30/07/2011 18:09

At one point one of the actors had a go with the conductor's baton. The orchestra played accordingly, i.e. a complete shambles given an amateur was having a go. The actor looked at them, and then handed the baton back to the conductor saying 'it's broken'. Grin

Still a bit disappointed that they were so mean to the children who had stood patiently waiting by the stage door for 45 minutes, though. Not Big Nor Clever.

oooggs · 30/07/2011 20:07

gory games also very funny!!!

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 30/07/2011 20:10

Boo to not showing at the stage door.

Yay to the filmedness. I shall keep my digits twisted for some televisual goodness.

Parts 1&2 are on iplayer in the radio section. Am going to go steal borrow some wi-fi tomorrow and download them for my own gratuitous aural pleasure the kids.

Grin

Oh bother it's just radio! Need to see them. Blush

DontCallMePeanut · 30/07/2011 21:02

I'm going to have to collect the books again... Was my favourite series as a tween!

IDrinkFromTheirSkulls · 30/07/2011 22:19

Oh I loooove HH! As you can tell from my name Wink. I spend all day singing the songs in my head at work.

I am so sad. DS isn't even old enough to watch it so I can't even say I only watch it because he does.

edam · 30/07/2011 23:29

Grin that is quite a bad case, you've got there, idrink... (I do the same thing, hum the songs in my head. AND I work with a bunch of people are either in their 20s and childless OR far too old so no-one would have a clue what I was on about if I tried to tell them.)

piratecat · 31/07/2011 15:01

check out youtube for proms!

TakeMeDrunkImHome · 31/07/2011 15:59

sheepgomeep · 31/07/2011 16:12

Ohh my 8 year old dd1 loves the horrible histories. The songs are so catchy. I have a bit of a crush on the one who does the dick turpin one Blush

They've just don the proms yesterday and there are downloads on the internet. Definitely should bring out a cd.

DD (3) calls it mummy and daddy's programme!

NorfolkNChance · 31/07/2011 21:38

You see the more unscrupulous MNetter would find them on YouTube and then an online converter to mp3 and listen to them that way.

Which I wouldn't do, oh not me guv'ner, Honest

Greenshadow · 02/08/2011 18:46
to official clip of Proms
MavisGrind · 02/08/2011 20:25

I find it hilarious that there are comments such as "I love HH and I'm nearly 16!"

I'm 40, love....I don't need my dcs about to sit in all day and watch all of it on the iPlayer! Blush

mrspear · 02/08/2011 20:33

O my god never watched the songs; now i am in stitches! Thank you mumsnet for making me Grin again

piprabbit · 02/08/2011 21:43

Bet the HH actors couldn't quite believe they were singing in front of a full orchestra and choirs in the Royal Albert Hall.
I am soooooo jealous of them.
