How miserable are you that the Tories are in power?

I feel tense and twitchy. I used to enjoy reading the politic section/ other political forums, but I fear if I keep on going there and reading more and more about Tory plans, I will give myself a heart attack.

I loath them but worst I fear them. I am anxious for this country and the ordinary man and woman.

Dave makes me feel insane with hatred.

I have a colleague who is in love with the Tories. I don't share biscuits with him any more.

In the 70's the rich were taxed at 95%. Which is why so many of them hid their money or fucked off or banked offshore.

If you want to see the same happen again, up the top tax bracket.

The well off pay more tax and use less taxpayers money in return. that's how it is and it's right in a democracy. But when people start with the rich bashing it really fucks me off . Some people never contribute a penny and live off the rest of us like a parasite. Why not save your ire for them rather than those who put the food in their mouths?

There's more than enough (righteous and deserved) ire going around for benefit spongers, I presume you've read a few threads on this forum already

How about those 'spongers' running their respective banks like a casino who privatised the millions they made with incredibly risky short termist business decisions and subsequently came crying to the tax payer to bail them out.

I'm not bashing the rich btw, I've done all right myself but don't kid there's no inequities in the system inb both directions or that a lot of rich people don't pay their share.

the rich peeple have got more money than they shuld have tax the nasty rich basterds more and give it to us what deservs it.

peeple say that on benifits you have loads of money but you havent and i need more too live proper.

I am an academic in one of the countyr's top universities and what the Tories are doing here is short-sighted, to say the least. There is little sense in their higher education policy and our children will have to pay the price. I am not opposed to fees, but I am oppsoed to their being tripled overnight and to the ENTIRE humanities budget being removed. All we can do is charge more, just to stand still and we are short of money already. Complete and utter madness as our best universities are some of the few world-class institutions we have left in this country. Every academic I know, right and left, is v v worried.

Academics are worried because the gravy train is coming off the tracks. Keep the russell group, turn all the others into polytechnics offering vocational courses. People that have no skills other than spouting 2nd rate academic crap will have to find some other way of earning a living.
