AIBU to think that this woman is taking the bloody piss?

www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3673011/Nigerian-mum-Bimbo-Ayelabola-flew-into-Britain-and-had-quins-on-the-NHS.html

I very much doubt she will be sent back. Who is paying her legal fees is what I would like to know?

Are we a soft touch or just a lovely compassionate country with enough resources for all?

I think I'm off to Lagos soon. I was joking that I must ensure I am pregnant with quins first... I've multiple birth history..

mathanxiety · 06/07/2011 20:35

Painting with a nice broad brush there, Blimming?

If you're going to play the class card, you'll have to exclude me, cos I'm a Marxist, don't you know.

catgirl1976 · 06/07/2011 20:42

How do you decide what class someone is from MN Blimming?

Birdsgottafly · 06/07/2011 20:52

Gooseberry- on top of her being imaginary, i will be sat here tomorrow night imagining my disabled daughter is sat by me because the funding for her SEN club has been cut Hmm

Blimming- you should have said high tax payers, some people can have oodles of money and no class.

LadyBeagleEyes · 06/07/2011 20:55

For one woman who has had quins (a rare occurence wherever you live), and gave birth here, and had five healthy babies in spite of the risks is surely a good news story.
I'm on Mumsnet aren't I?
You know, the Mumsnet that has just banned advertising for Sky television because it's part of the group that publishes The Sun and NOW where you have taken your information from, and who have proved to get their information illegally and in the most despicable fashion ever seen in British journalism?
Be very proud OP.

Orbinator · 06/07/2011 21:03

Careful Lady, your class may be in your name! :) It is written, therefore it must be true.

catgirl1976 · 06/07/2011 21:18

Do you not think people who pay a lot of tax are a good thing then blimmin - given how much they contribute to the nhs etc? plus they don't tend to clog up the nhs wards if they go private when they can afford to therefore not draining resources - surely thats good?

Xenia · 06/07/2011 21:24

I did say in my very first post how gorgeous the babies. They look so cute. It is such a lovely photograph.

(It certainly appears to be a political move and the connections between that awful paper the Guardian which will not be chosen reading for most mumsnetters is not helpful)

Orbinator · 07/07/2011 16:47

Apparently News of The World is to be disbanded as of this Sunday! FYI.

BlimmingCheek · 07/07/2011 21:17

What has that got to do with this, this was not reported in the NOTW? It was reported in other papers besides The Sun.

OP posts:
catgirl1976 · 07/07/2011 21:20

Oh dear god blimmin. you are joking aren't you?

Xenia · 07/07/2011 21:59

It has nothing to do with the NOTW.

The boycott which led to the closure is interesting. The closure is a very very clever move which in my view means in a sense that Murdoch won and good for him. The closure will also help get the Sky News merger through too. Let's see. It will be fascinating to watch.

catgirl1976 · 07/07/2011 22:01

good for him? the sun has nothing to do with the news of the world? are you actually serious?

Gooseberrybushes · 07/07/2011 22:14

Xenia - not sure how clever it is - it assumes the British public are a bit dim.

Surely most people know they are binning a lot of people who had no involvement in order to save RB and JM - who quite probably did.

It really looks even to the dimmest that it's very the wealthy binning ordinary people to save their skins.

Amazingly, I foresee a wave of sympathy for notw frontliners. Only Murdoch could achieve this - even if by accident!

LadyBeagleEyes · 07/07/2011 22:14

Shock at xenia and Blimmin.
Do you watch the news?

Xenia · 07/07/2011 22:58

Yse, very clever and as ever those who are just employees lose out to those who own. If you have sense you seem to own not work for others. It was ever thus.

of course the British public are dim./ The average IQ is 100. Most people dont' even get AC in GCSE. They are dim as anything and they adore the gutter press and always will. If people wanted to read about religion or philosophy or history or business news in their papers that is what would be in the papers.

Gooseberrybushes · 09/07/2011 01:52

if this latest is true and she's married to a wealthy businessman then it just goes to show what I said in my first post

you feel sorry for the wrong people - the people to feel sorry for are those left behind, the people with no funds, no wherewithal, no choice, no recourse to health care

anything else is sentimentalism

it's not difficult to see this

somethingwitty82 · 09/07/2011 10:48

Pasrasite

odds of her being slung out?

lovecorrie · 09/07/2011 11:09

um...nil?

coolio2011 · 09/07/2011 15:52

This woman was taking double doses of a fertility drug - she knew exactly what she was doing.

This story - like many others pisses me right off. She knew that if she could give birth here (saw specialists and had a care team for each baby, I believe?) then she'd be one step closer to staying with her family and a life of bloody luxury. Maybe she should've done things differently - come over through the correct channels, got a job, paid into the system and then had kids. But no. Instead, she came over, we paid for all the specialist care and will no doubt continue to pay for them until they reach 16. Her mum and sister are helping her full time to care for the babies - why the bloody hell don't they have jobs?! and who's paying for the house? oh yes, us!

The government needs to sort the whole benefits system out. I've been working my ass off since the age of 16, got qualifications and for what? I'd probably be better off on benefits. I know so many people who've worked their whole adult life and wanted more children but had to stop at either one or two because they couldn't afford it. Yet people on benefits can have more because all it means is more money! Makes me sick, it really does.
