there is a perception that feminists are not being nice enough.

I want to go back to AIBU - it felt nicer somehow.

Carmina - it's come to summat when aibu is better than the fems, non?

Niecie · 03/07/2011 20:13

Leningrad - depends how integral the annoying person is to the thread. If they are the OP or the main poster, it makes it difficult to ignore them.

I am tempted to leave this thread, but my curiosity is too great and I want to know a) why it is here and b) what will happen next. Smile

Hullygully · 03/07/2011 20:14

there's no love, kindness or real debate

there's: this is feminism, if you don't agree you're a misogynist

boring ol shite

You cannot deny that some feminists are man hating loons, you just can't. Doesn't make feminism wrong or irrelevant though, just means that some people who call themselves feminists hate men.

Is this the post dittany.....or have you confused me with someone else?

garlicnutter · 03/07/2011 20:16

Lenin, you're a (the??) reasonable regular.

Which is probably why you're making a genuine effort to engage.

Carminagetsprimal · 03/07/2011 20:16

Oui Hully I agree - Oui again.

Hullygully · 03/07/2011 20:17

I repeat, not you, you pillock

as others have said, there are a couple of very vocal, dogmatic and insistent people who bully and shout down and accuse of misogyny anyone who doesn't 100% agree with their interpretation of feminism.

snowmama · 03/07/2011 20:18

Garlicnutter look at the last two pages and honestly ask yourself, what is really said about he feminists section here...because I will tell you what I am hearing.

  1. Feminists all think the same thing...and toe the party line.
  2. People in the feminist section are rude.

I do not think it is in the slightest bit patronising to say I disagree with the first, and actually don't feel that any woman has the requirement to be polite all the time ( which is why I also like AIBU...but for different reasons).

seeker · 03/07/2011 20:18

I started the thread and I put it in AIBU deliberately. I didn't want the discussion to be limited to the people who frequent the feminist board. These are important issues - if they a repegated to the feminist section, it is fatr too easy for people to think "Oh, this doesn't apply to me, I don;t ahve to think about it"

For the record, I object very strongly to the move. I would be interested to hear MNNHQ's reasons for it.

CDV Grin

This is where you come out with some back-turning, foot-stamping shite about word twisting, misinterpreting, not understanding and being a plaything of the MRA.

In this section things get really boring and repetitive and point scoring. It's like male dominated boardrooms with chest beating and alpha-feminism. Dull.

Elsewhere you actually get a bit of discussion and movement. peopel get to explore their thoughts without being trampled on or scared away.

Hullygully · 03/07/2011 20:23

It would be lovely to ignore them, Lenin, but they drive everyone else away and leave no one to engage with.
