I don't think name calling is a bit deal tbh. Stick and stones and all that and generally makes me go Hmm

What I object is the belittling and patronising that goes on, like if I don't agree I am somehow deficient.

Can anybody from MN please explain why this has been moved? I can't imagine any of us wanted it moved.

Hullygully · 03/07/2011 20:04

oooo oo ooo oooooooo oo oo oo

garlicnutter · 03/07/2011 20:05

Lenin - I can see why people don't want to discuss things here under this banner, but isn't that fine? Discuss them elsewhere - not allowed, apparently Confused We were discussing elsewhere! But we got moved ...

HRH - I match your 27 posts to bunfight with 30 posts until everyone leaves this thread except the people who always post on this board Grin

HULLY WAS IT YOU that prompted the thread move?!

Bet it was ...

Hullygully · 03/07/2011 20:06

I'd say about four.

Lenin, if I didn't love you I'd suspect you of disingenuousness.

Not you, you pillock (lenin)

CrapolaDeVille · 03/07/2011 20:08

I think the main gripe people have, that I have encountered, is that they assume women have choice about everything, whether to stay at home, strip or whatever it is. And to deny that women have free will in the way their lives evolve is also an admission that they themselves are subject to the same lack of choice that men enjoy.

Afterall why doesn't that beaten wife leave? Why does that woman choose to strip? Why shouldn't a career suffer if a woman chooses to have a baby? Why should everyone suffer for some women to have babies? What have women in the Congo got to do with women here in the UK?

And then there are the common misconceptions....

Feminist women can't be attractive.
Feminist women can't love men.
Feminist women can't give a shit about male rape or violence against men.

Hullygully · 03/07/2011 20:08

No it bloody wasn't me. Last thing I'd rquest if i wanted a discussion without a few maniacs shouting me down if I didn't toe their party line. had enough of that in the seventies.

snowmama · 03/07/2011 20:09

Well, I think everyone is in agreement that it was inappropriate to move it into the feminism section.

Haven't read all 24 pages, but not sure that those who think that the feminism represents a 'one size fits all' feminism have actually read the board. There are several streams of feminist thought represented, discussed and debated with passion here...crossing multiple topics..as we all have our own personal priorities. Would be a real shame to see that derailed with belittling and silencing this section because there is a perception that feminists are not being nice enough.

There are worse things happening in the world than Playboy opening in London.

garlicnutter · 03/07/2011 20:09

Sorry, Hully Grin

Bloody hell, were you marching next to me in the seventies? (If you remember diving into the nearest pub for beer & sanity, the answer's yes)

Hullygully · 03/07/2011 20:10

BUT.

Oh bollocks, cba
