to feel absolutely disgusted by what just happened on the bus?

On the bus with DH, toddler DD (19 months) in pushchair and newborn DS (17 days) in sling. Travelling through bog standard, middle class suburbia.

As we board, bus driver snaps that we'll either have to fold the pushchair or get off now. As we're fumbling to fold the pushchair whilst clinging onto a tired and wailing DD, other passangers are elbowing past and paying no attention to DS whom I'm trying to protect, and the bus driver is shouting at me to hurry up.

Nobody at all offers DH or DD a seat, and the only person to offer me one is a woman of at least 70.

Having an ashamed-to-be-British moment.

gooseberrybushes i didnt say i was a model of forbearance and politness in the world at large
did i? if i thought someone was being bullied in real life thats exactly what i would call them. i see far far worse language posted on here.

Gooseberrybushes · 24/06/2011 19:13

Yes, there is far worse language posted on here. It's very often by people who are pushing a "let's all hold hands and save the world" viewpoint - who get cross when others demur.

im sure she wasnt crying herself to sleep about it, she just had a moment and had a hasty post, disgust may be a bit strong but why do people take things to the most literal of their meaning. i often say im disgusted about things meaning im a bit annoyed, everyone exaggerates. it wouldnt have been very eyecatching if she said. i have a small feeling of disappointment. would it.

woahthere · 24/06/2011 19:17

bullies. bet you were at school as well.

Honeydragon · 24/06/2011 19:22

I've told you a million times not to exaggerate Woahthere Grin

TidyDancer · 24/06/2011 19:23

woahthere, being vile to people is not the way to disagree with them. Stooping to a level you feel they are at never solves things. Your words were horrible. I support the OP's perspective personally, but I can still see that what you said was awful.

woahthere · 24/06/2011 19:24

why? it was true?

hairfullofsnakes · 24/06/2011 19:26

Please be assured that I would have helped you if I had been on the bus and So would countless others. You had the misfortune of finding a bus full of miserable shits!

TidyDancer · 24/06/2011 19:27

No, it wasn't true. It was your opinion. I'm sorry you can't see the difference, but rest assured there is one.

woahthere · 24/06/2011 19:32

my opinion is what i said was true Smile im off now, i made my point, it made me feel better and frankly thats all that matters. haha.

Honeydragon · 24/06/2011 19:32

It's not that true, unless big fat dicks can type....well I guess they could in a non flacid state?
The managing 3 children whilst juggling was tongue in cheek from a good many posters tbf.

TidyDancer · 24/06/2011 19:33

Bye bye then.

Crosshair · 24/06/2011 19:39

zukiecat Do you get a mormon equivalent of Watchtower magazine?

PeachesandStrawberry · 24/06/2011 19:53

Woahthere.

I agree with you

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 24/06/2011 19:54

My goodness. Can't believe I've generated so much hot air.

Thanks to all those who've been so supportive. Certainly, I'm sure I will calm down and use more proportionate language once I've had some sleep.

Also, to respond to some other points.

  1. Whether or not I could afford a car is irrelevant. I have DVLA endorsed medical reasons for being unable to drive.
  2. I therefore can't comment on the cost of petrol versus either breastmilk or lattes.
  3. No, I'm not in London. If I were, I'd just have waited for the next bus, which would have come along much more quickly
  4. What have the Mormons got to do with it?

''4) What have the Mormons got to do with it?''

Everything!

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 24/06/2011 20:00

Why? I mean, I'm aware my brain may be a little below speed, but...

Crosshair · 24/06/2011 20:12

They can be annoying on buses in certain places.

BreastmilkDoesAFabLatte · 24/06/2011 20:14

Ah, OK. Round here they either set up camp outside the hospital entrance, or knock on doors.

Crosshair · 24/06/2011 20:15

Everyone seems to have Mormons apart from me. :(

tralalala · 24/06/2011 20:16

ffs of course you offer a place to a man or woman holding a 19 month old. Ever have you been in a bus that stops suddenly and everyone falls over. That's really fun holding a toddler.

Stand up you lazy fuckers.

JudysJudgement · 24/06/2011 20:18

yay, someone has picked me out of the crowd

i have arrived at last !!!!

runs round room with t-shirt over head!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bunbaker · 24/06/2011 20:21

"Everyone seems to have Mormons apart from me."

We don't get them either. We get the occasional Jehovah's Witness, but that's it.
