I was shopping in Marks and Spencer and came across this glaring at me in the checkout queue.

First this is a horrible story but par for the course for the media, but 'Josie' is on the front page, inside were enormous pictures of this woman in her bikini. I don't know who she is but I don't want my kids reading shite like this or even seeing it in the supermarket. why the hell is it anyone's business how fat she is? Why does she deserve to have pictures of her in her bikini plastered all over the country?

It's a bad as the Lad's mag thing

im no sure what you are upse by, a woman in her bikini or he celulite?

childinjoy · 21/06/2011 10:57

I know I was shocked when I saw this, poor thing Sad

CrapolaDeVille · 21/06/2011 10:59

Who the fuck is Josie Gibson?

clayre · 21/06/2011 10:59

It looks like shes sold her story to the magazine as predicted by a newspaper last week when they printed the same pics of her, the paper also predicted she'll have a workout dvd out by the end of the year........

knittedbreast · 21/06/2011 11:00

im lost ive never heard of her or seen her before

BarbaraBar · 21/06/2011 11:01

Who is she?

porcamiseria · 21/06/2011 11:02

agree with clayre, its a shit situation for women and self esteem issues in general, but Josie knows whats she doing

NormanTebbit · 21/06/2011 11:03

I don't know who she is either.

Has she 'sold her story?' because it looks like a cut and paste job to me.

Are you saying she has deliberately set this up so she can sell a work out DvD?

FArking 'ell

MrSpoc · 21/06/2011 11:04

She is a celeb. you have to take the good with the bad. Her choice of career.

G1nger · 21/06/2011 11:05

Hmmm.... Those legs don't look natural to me. I think the image has been photoshopped to make her look bigger. Either that or she's ill and water-retaining quite badly.

microfight · 21/06/2011 11:05

Well if you go on big brother looking for fame?

GypsyMoth · 21/06/2011 11:07

but you looked inside anyway op??

EricNorthmansMistress · 21/06/2011 11:08

These Z list slebs all do this. They sell pics of them looking fat then they do a workout dvd and put the fat pics on the front of it. Trust me, she knew what she was doing (or her management did)

DogsBestFriend · 21/06/2011 11:08

God knows who she is but I presume she's getting paid for it.

Sorry but I don't think that your outrage or desire not to have your children see this rag magazine in the supermarket is going to make any difference. Come to that, I can't quite see why a person would so be so seemingly annoyd about their children seeing it... I wouldn't offer the rag to mine as an alternative to Enid Blyton but they're not going to be affected by the mere sight of it.

BunnyLebowski · 21/06/2011 11:09

This might change your opinion.

She's a desperate fame-whore trying to milk her 15 mins for as long as she can. Fitness DVD by Xmas I reckon (if she can muster the self-discipline to out the fork down that is]] and then by this time next year she'll have put it all back on.

MumblingRagDoll · 21/06/2011 11:09

She knows exactly what she's doing and is carefully manged. Have pics of yourself likea whale all over the press...then 6 months later miraculously lose it all...then sell the DVD of your regime. Tis an old trick.

NormanTebbit · 21/06/2011 11:10

You know, I agree with the whole impatience at whining celebs complaining because they've been caught snorting coke or fucking their brother's wife or whatever

But don't you think that story also says something about us? That we want to consume this trash.

I think my DD's will see that in a few years and feel disgust and contempt for that woman and then approval when she loses the weight and brings out her Dvd and I feel it is a really unhealthy culture.

And it's splashed right across the front page so you can't really bloody miss the whole humiliation party

EricNorthmansMistress · 21/06/2011 11:11

If you were a sleb, even of the Z list variety, and you had put weight on, and you didn't want people to get hold of pics of your wobbly belly and cellulite legs, why would you wear a bikini on the beach?

I wouldn't wear a bikini and nobody would be taking pics of me and putting them on magazines.

Lots of shock at the time that this woman wore this vile green thing in public - look what happened

NormanTebbit · 21/06/2011 11:11

No I didn't read it, I linkied to it on the internet.

Maybe I am getting old and should just shrug my shoulders and accept it.

OP posts:
BunnyLebowski · 21/06/2011 11:11

'That we want to consume this trash.'

I don't. I walk straight past shite like that in the shops and don't watch the idiotic telly that spawns them so don't count me in that category, ta.

NormanTebbit · 21/06/2011 11:12

How does this differ to lad's mags with their airbrushed cuties on the front?

OP posts:
worraliberty · 21/06/2011 11:12

How come no-one who starts a thread like this ever admits to having actually bought the magazine?

It's always "Oh I saw the front cover in the shop" or "Oh it was in the surgery waiting room" Grin

DogsBestFriend · 21/06/2011 11:13

If it's any comfort, my teenaged DDs would say:

Who the hell is she?

She's agreed to be featured.

She's being PAID for that article!

Oh my good god, not ANOTHER fitness DVD...

They don't learn from magazines, they learn from parents. And if you have a cynic for a parent.... :o

NormanTebbit · 21/06/2011 11:13

I don't watch it or read it either.

Perhaps that is why I was so shocked. Perhaps I need some therapy. A few mins watching Jordan and reading OK! a day and I will think it's all fine.

OP posts:
NormanTebbit · 21/06/2011 11:14

I did not buy the bloody thing
