ggirl · 19/06/2011 11:21

they do bimbo
the car has to be forward enough though
logic

CroissantNeuf · 19/06/2011 11:22

Stallion -blimey, 6 schools! Educ Welfare Officers visit less schools than that Grin

MynamesMikeIswimlikeafish · 19/06/2011 11:28

Doesn't work for me. My car has a proper dodgy diesel intake hole thing (whatever you call it) and if the nozzle isn't just at the right angle it constantly knocks off. So takes longer than waiting for the pump.

You'll just have to be patient.

L8rAllig8r · 19/06/2011 11:47

I tried it once but it didn't reach, was very embarrassing as the petrol station was packed. Never again!

PredictableDullard · 19/06/2011 11:51

agreed - as always [inserts head in stallions arse]

i hate when i am parking and some old cunt decides to help me cos i am a woman and obviously having some old cunt standing exactly where i want to park is an ENORMOUS help.

TheStallionOfSensibleness · 19/06/2011 11:53

ouch Wink

OP posts:
Bink · 19/06/2011 11:58

The conclusive riposte to that Stallion is:

my HUSBAND once did this
getting the hose neatly all the way round
filled up the car and then, guess what
with the slightly heavier weight of the filled up car the angle for the tank was no longer the same and
the nozzle WOULD NO LONGER COME OUT it was STUCK
and so then there was a very long time sorting that out

Put that in your tank & explode it
Many thanks

xstitch · 19/06/2011 12:04

I try and do it if there is a queue but I have got into knots a couple of times. I now know which petrol stations have hoses long enough to do it and which idiotically do not.

wigglybeezer · 19/06/2011 12:05

Yes. know what you mean Dullard, I am pretty good at parallel parking etc. UNLESS a man is watching me, then I get all flustered and tend to fluff it.

Mind you, the same happens to DH when he is trying to reverse and level our caravan watched by old gits in deckchairs who treat it like a spectator sport!

Stallion, one of our cats does that, and also hops onto toddlers' buggies for a ride, all the kids from the nursery over the road know her.

PredictableDullard · 19/06/2011 12:11

my sis as a remote control for her caravan. the old gits worship her as a god

Amieesmum · 19/06/2011 12:15

The petrol bit is broken on my car, so you have to put the nozzle in at an angle, or the pump wont deliver the fuel. Can't be done from the wrong side, it simply doesn't work with my car.

bandgeek · 19/06/2011 12:20

I tried it once and couldn't reach so had to drive away in shame. I would rather wait in a queue! My parking is ace though Grin

eurochick · 19/06/2011 12:24

Cats are a hazard at petrol garages.

And for a more sensible answer, they don't always reach the other side of the car and you end up dragging a mucky hose over your paintwork so it's perfectly normal to wait. I would unless I was in a particular hurry.

MediumPretty · 19/06/2011 12:34

I saw someone stretching the hose over their car the other day and the forecourt assistant bellowed over the tannoy that customers are "NOT ALLOWED" to do that.

PopBiscuits · 19/06/2011 13:32

Pulling those damn hoses all the way out (often from quite high up) and stretching them right around the car is fairly strenuous.

Ergo, there is always going to be people who are not really up to the job physically and will just wait an extra minute in the queue.

Therefore, OP is being unreasonable.

End of.

PopBiscuits · 19/06/2011 13:34

And needs to learn more about cats

onebigchocolatemess · 19/06/2011 13:38

yes I agree its not just women. And it is annoying.

I am happy to say I do S-T-R-E-T-C-H and it pisses me off when others don't, although I always get to queue jump because I am brave enough to risk it

so, actually, no don't encourage them. I like queue jumping Wink

Hulababy · 19/06/2011 13:38

I am not very tall and find it very difficult to stretch the petrol hose over my car. It's a real faff for me to have to do it so I prefer not too.

Not all pumps in all petrol stations do stretch either. Only some stations have long enough ones to do it. I know the ones at the local Tesco metro do stretc but the ones at the garage nearer to home don't.

I will continue to wait. I do tend to queue directly behind a car though, rather than sitting my car in the middle of the forecourt. I make sure other cars can go round me should they wish too.

trixymalixy · 19/06/2011 13:38

I do this apart from at the high street petrol station where the hoses do NOT stretch over the car and I made a right prat of myself.

SauvignonBlanche · 19/06/2011 13:38

Well said PopBiscuits Grin

SoupDragon · 19/06/2011 13:41

I prefer to have the hose on the right side but it reaches perfectly fine round the back of my SMax if I have positioned the car correctly (which I always do, naturally). No way would it reach over the back though.

I do hate filling the car up though. I don't know why, always have. If I could shove the task onto someone else, I would.

TheStallionOfSensibleness · 19/06/2011 13:42

attention all hosers

you dont need to streetch ti OVER we have established

youshouve your rear end FORARDS and you take it from behind

OP posts:
TrilllianAstra · 19/06/2011 13:43

"does it matter if it takes a minute longer to queue, enjoy it."

Enjoy what? Sitting in a car is not my idea of fun. Are you some kind of queue-pervert who loves to wait in queues while people take longer than they need to? Is it your special fetish? In that case you won't mind me going in front while you wait for an extra minute and enjoy it.

TheStallionOfSensibleness · 19/06/2011 13:44

YOu DRIVE the car slightly PAST the hose

then take the hose and enter from BEHIND and bob est ton oncle

HansieMom · 19/06/2011 13:52

Poncey whatever, that is a horrible thing to say. Evil. Vicious. Shame on you.
