I love this guy, AIBU?

OP posts:
ExitPursuedByAKitten · 10/06/2011 13:34

Has no one mentioned his remark about Eating dogs for the anorexic?

ohmyfucksy · 10/06/2011 13:36

I think he's hilarious.

ExitPursuedByAKitten · 10/06/2011 13:36

Me too.

petitepeach · 10/06/2011 13:47

I think he's great! He is very intelligent and has just got on with what life has thrown at him - I also love his devotion to the Queen.....makes me well up a little bit...
Also DofE awards and his charity work, he takes an interest in people and life in a no-nonsense way....long may it last!

nowayhosay · 10/06/2011 15:00

When introduced to a female solicitor, Prince Philip said, "I thought it was against the law these days for a woman to solicit"

"If it doesn't fart or eat hay then she isn't interested"
- speaking about his daughter, Princess Anne.

I think if i'd spent my life living in the shadow of the most famous person in the world, would maybe want to make my presence felt in a small way Grin

CoteDAzur · 10/06/2011 15:04

He is sexist and a racist xenophobe, so YABU.

HelloOutThere · 10/06/2011 15:08

YANBU he is fab fab fab

Dippy001 · 10/06/2011 15:10

He said himself the DofE awards are nothing to do with him. Someone else had the idea and used him to promote it. He is such a waste of space. I cannot believe so many people on here think his racism/sexism is 'hilarious'. I wonder if there are things Nick Griffin of the BNP says that you find funny as well.

SarahBumBarer · 10/06/2011 15:18

Still haven't seen anyone actually introduce any evidence of his racism/sexism. It's easy to call someone a racist/sexist/bigot and far too many people on MN seem to attempt to win an argument by trotting this shit out as some sort of trump card with precious little to back it up.

If anyone is in a position to understand what a good job a woman can do it is he surely and he has always seemed to me to acknowledge that.

komondor · 10/06/2011 15:28

I'm a republican, but even I think he's the pick of the bunch.

komondor · 10/06/2011 15:32

Actually he is the only one I like.

komondor · 10/06/2011 15:36

My dotty granny is in her 90s, and she isnt racist, but I have heard her describe my cousins husband as Coloured, which I think can be offensive. She has also referred to her much loved great-grandchildren as half-castes. It doesnt bother us, but we do tell her she should not use the term half-castes in public.

I think they come from another era.

ApocalypseCheeseToastie · 10/06/2011 15:53

I always imagine the Queen giving him a clip round the ear behind the scenes for showing him up yet again Grin

Darnsarfupnorf · 10/06/2011 16:28

hahaha apocalypse i love that image!

i think hes hilarious! thes 'inapropriate' jokes are just his way of breaking the ice, i dont think hes ever said anything purposly to offend somebody.

i think hes fabulous and an inspiration!

alemci · 10/06/2011 16:34

I like him. He is refreshing.

Northernlurker · 10/06/2011 16:44

I loved seeing him at the Royal Wedding - didn't he look absolutely thrilled - both with the marriage itself and the v attractive bridesmaid Grin He is what he is and I think there's a lot we don't see.

Georgimama · 10/06/2011 16:45

I loved him edging ever closer to Pippa Middleton on the balcony. I'm sure he had his hand on her arse at one point.

seeker · 10/06/2011 19:10

And why is it that whenever a person in the public eye does something quite normal they get massieve credit for it? Of course he walked with his grandsons at their mother's funeral - it would ahve been shameful if he hadn't rather than praisworthy that he did.

Funtimewincies · 10/06/2011 19:13

...whereas if anyone else did something like that, it'd be sexual harrassment georgimama. I just don't hold with the 'cheeky old duffer, aren't I a card' routine. He reminds me of the office 'comedian' who thinks that it's OK to make stupid comments because he's 'only having a laugh' Hmm.

seeker · 10/06/2011 19:17

"I loved him edging ever closer to Pippa Middleton on the balcony. I'm sure he had his hand on her arse at one point."

Such swwetheart he is. Oh how we laughed!

diddl · 10/06/2011 19:23

"I just don't hold with the 'cheeky old duffer,"

I agree.

With all the aides, he must know what is & isn´t acceptable to say-and have more chance to be "in the know" "up to date" than most of his age.

Georgimama · 10/06/2011 19:26

"Oh how we laughed!"

Pippa did anyway Seeker.

It took a little longer than I had hoped for some tede to pick up on my post, MN is slipping.

yousankmybattleship · 10/06/2011 19:28
